Checking out these rumors of a Chinese consortium. Embassy hasn't heard of anything. Down in Xiamen now. Lots of monied Chinese entrepreneurs, but they actually want to make a profit, so a Forest takeover seems improbable. More to follow.

Seems like you have been on to much opium the editor should be able to check your ip to confirm your in xiamen and not your front bedroom. {Ed001's Note - the IP does suggest China but they are not infallible.}

Millenium Harbourview Hotel, opposite Lu Jiang Island. Xiamen. Lots of wealthy Chinese businessmen here, trust me. But they want value for money. Feeling is that with falling returns in property market here, funds could be found.

Agree0 Disagree0

Will anyone want to invest in anything that won't be making money? Surely it'd just be a trophy thing rather than a serious investment expecting returns over the long term?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeeesss, is this the consortium headed by Mr Jay-Sun Lee (raises quizzical eyebrow) I don't think pineapple head has that sort of money.

Agree0 Disagree0

Heading back to Beijing tomorrow, empty handed. Nothing to show for my weekends investigation except a dodgy stomach from too much abalone and hairy crab. Will talk to my man inside the UKDTI midweek and see what's happening there. If a Chinese consortium is interested, my guangxi tells me it's not from Xiamen, one of the more likely locations!

Forest are keen to avoid rumours such as the one about Liam Lawrence, to clarify the situation, we are dependent upon Premier League clubs making offers for existing players in January, most likely target is McGugan. This would provide cash for Cotterill to buy a couple of players, but max £750k bid for Lawrence. Boatang to be released in January, foe no fee.

The Mirror reporting that we are going to bid £1.5 million for Liam Lawrence. If this is true, where is this money coming from ?

Believable17 Unbelievable19

It isn't true,

cotterill said himself in the post last night that there isn't any money.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lilely one or two of our players will be bid for in Jan, so this is where the money will come from.

Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cotterill is set to raid former club Portsmouth with a £1.5m offer for Liam Lawrence.

Believable21 Unbelievable28

Forget Forest buying players,we have no money.Time for us all to get used to it I`m afraid.

Agree0 Disagree0

How many times do people have to be told........WE'VE GOT NO MONEY !!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

We gonna sell to invest in new players same as our chairman did when he took over as manager after cloughie he sold keane and n clough and brought in players he needed so can see steve c doing same thing

Agree0 Disagree0

Clough and Keane were not sold, they both wanted to leave. Clough was hailed a hero and Keane a Judas.

Agree0 Disagree0

Keane had a 3.5 mill get out clause in his contract if we got relegated and we did so he went same as clough wanted out after his dad left fact so both where sold

Agree0 Disagree0

Clough left to maintain his England career, fact.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nigel Clough left because only his dad would ever pick him. Nigel was too slow and too weak to play football. He was carried at Forest for years. Would have never made it without his dad.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's funny, the Nigel Clough I remember played for England, was our top scorer more than once and then played for Liverpool, who paid over a million quid for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually it was nearer three million quid and he is still our second top goal scorer ever {Ed007's Note - It was 2.75 million and he scored 131 goals for Forest, second in the list behind Grenville Morris with 217 goals.}
