Pearce is set to bring academy and first team closer by have training game with them once a week to see if any can step up to first team squad

Thought Pearce said that in his press conference after taking over as Manager. He Certainly said he wants the Academy and First teams to Integrate more.

Just reading SP's autobiography, it is interesting to read how he identified with the youngsters at Newcastle when he was treated badly by Gullit, who completely ignored the youth squad. He is clearly conscious of how they can be motivated by contact with first team and manager etc. Great read if you've not read it, some good insights, if he practises what he says we have a brilliant manger!
