Austin not coming, a bid was made but that is as far as it went. The three close signings are Wilson ( left out of the Celtic squad today) Holt from Hearts and Jimbo tweeted that one of the signings had not been mentioned before and that player is David Nugent (left out of the Leicester squad today) not in Leicesters immediate plans and in the last year of his contract also played under Billy at Preston.

But its another (Nugent) forward like we have with similar scoring ratios (Mackie, Blackstock, Derbyshire, Henderson etc). Austin is glass and will get a bucket full.

If it is to be Nugent, I would be seriously underwhelmed. Austin yes, Sharp yes, Al Mutawa yes, Soriano yes, but Nugent?!

Jimbo also tweeted " records are there to be broken " when asked if we would break our transfer record. That wouldn't be for Nugent.

In fairness to Nugent, he has played & scored for England while also winning an FA Cup - but I agree, would much rather have Austin. As for the bid, Jim Price said that we've not given up on any players we've previously bid for so that nullifies that statement. Also, for those wondering, Burnley have said they will continue to play Austin in friendlies regardless of speculation, so don't read too much into the fact he's playing

In a season where the ultimate objective is automatic promotion why would billy want to risk giving Derbyshire a chance when he's been given the cash to splash on a player like Austin. It's a no brainer to me.

Got a feeling we ain't going to get CA or DN we are going to batter teams with out right pace and power and have Hendo the battering ram up front on his own with Coxy playing in the hole behind him. Then our collective group of misfit and misfiring and useless (in millers case) strikers will have bit parts in the second half of games.
