So. was Silva polished last night?

1.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 16:15:44
More performances like that and he will be a Golden Boy.

2.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 16:54:35
Question is do we still need Carvalho?

3.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 17:05:11
Bsered, after paying £13m for Carvalho we may aswell hold on to him.

Once be gets back to fitness hopefully he will compliment the new players and vice versa.

Although Carvalho is not necessarily a player that fights to get the ball back very much he will now have players around him to do that for him, he can then feed the players in front of him.

Once he and the other players form a understanding he and the team could light up the league, if we can not be optimistic before the season starts when can we.

4.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 18:09:42
Why would we get rid of one of our best players. Imagine Carvs and Silva linking up. Bsered you say you want to keep Osborn but consider selling Carvs?

5.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 18:22:59
Carvs and Silva linking up? Teams would run straight through us.

6.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 18:46:26
What is your reasoning behind that Stevie f.

7.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 19:18:40
Silva one good performance from 2 games carvahallo a few good games from a season and all of a sudden we have Ronaldo and Messi in the team lol let's just wait and see by far the best player and consistent every game is lolley better than both put together by far 😁.

8.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 20:02:55
Lc I believe the combination is too lightweight for the hurly burly of a championship game that’s all.

9.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 20:37:54
Stevie f, that is fair enough, but with Silva being a tough tackler and skilled he would not be too lightweight.

Skegs i agree Lolley is better than both but that is partly down to his experience of the Championship.

No one is saying that Carvalho and Silva are world beaters, just tht their skill and passing ability is good enough for them to come good with a bit more experience if their attitude is right.

Only time will tell, and i can not see into the future, how about yourself. Untill the season starts and they start playing against Championship teams i just want to hope for the best for them.

10.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 20:42:13
Sell Carvalho to Olympiacos and get a good striker. Best chance we've got.

11.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 20:49:10
Lc. I hope you’re right, I would like to see them succeed like everyone else, this championship is a hard school, it grinds plenty down.

12.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 20:54:13
Bsered, How much do you realistically expect we would get for Carvalho at this point in his Forest career, off course he is out injured so he would need to get fit first.

13.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 21:02:52
So who then, shall provide the striker?

14.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 21:34:54
My biggest fear is we spend some money on a decent striker and then on the last day of deadline we sell lolley to pay for him.

15.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 22:35:09
Our neighbours across the trent really are in dire straites, staff not been paid since june hardy has a lot to answer for i'm surprised he didn't ask forest for a preseason friendly however he burnt his bridges when he was laughing at us during the fawaz debacle now its come back to haunt him.

16.) 21 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 23:50:21
Skegs Never fear trust in Dourekas he is the architect of promotion charge! 👀 😰 🤣.

17.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 00:23:31
Guarantee when Carvs is not injured him and silva will be in the midfield.

18.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 08:15:47
Skegg, have to agree . I’m all for being optimistic and positive but one good game in a friendly means naff all/ how many times has that happened only for to not work out.

Ref carvalho: I’m not sure where his hero status comes from, he did absolutely nothing to justify that last season and some games was totally inept and out of his depth. If he had a different name on his shirt delivering some of the performances he delivered, he’d be subject to some significant criticism . He’s got potential for sure but he seems to get an easy ride from fans . I’d be surprised to see him and Tiago in the starting 11, to me Tiago looks more like the ‘championship’ Ready replacement for carvalho. Based on last season Carvalho lacks the tenacity for the championship and I’d lose little sleep if he went . I’m sadder that Osborn is going to be honest .

19.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 09:10:02
2star, IF you remember i was a critic of Carvalho last season, not for his lack of ability but purely based on how expensive he was for a club like Forest that he needed him to be more of the finished article than he was.

I would suggest if a English player had the skills, and potential that Carvalho has more people would be making a fuss of how good he is.

I would also suggest that were we to buy a midfielder from the lower leagues in this country for £4m, or £5m that only had half the skill of Carvalho people would moan about the clubs lack of ambition, and we need more proven players.

The trouble is the club has made a rod for its own back, one minute they say they have a long term plan and we fans need to be patient, then they sack managers when we are not in the top six come January.

Proven players of any real quality are too expensive, especially if they are English and with ffp rules always lurking it is hard for the club to do buy enough of them in one season.

The club itself needs to lower its, and the fans expectations and buy one proven player each season, and a couple of up and coming players then play the waiting game, not bringing in shed loads of players every window.

20.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 09:15:48
Sadder to see Osborn go than Carvs pfft. god help us.

21.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 09:21:07
Shed loads of rubbish at that lc and 2star can't wait for the season to kick off but I'm more worried about this season then any of the last 5 or 6 if we get 4 decent signings in before the start of the season I will be happy and please no benfica rejects onwards and upwards till at least Xmas anyway p. s we still need to get rid of a few and please please do not sell lolley.

22.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 09:24:30
LC. Some excellent points mate, only thing I’d say is I don’t think he’s as good as everyone thinks.
Maybe I watch a different game. Fingers crossed he reaches the heights of the hype as we will have a world beater if he does.

23.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 10:32:26
Lc on last seasons performances carvallho was no better than dowell was the season before, yet carvallho is herelded as some sort of midfield genius where dowell got slagged off for being too lazy and not strong enough,

24.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 11:06:40
2star, The only doubts anyone could have about him is, is he physically able to cope with Championship football, even does he have the mentality to cope with Championship football. Footballing wise experience is all he short of, but the above could cancel that out.

I hope for the best.

25.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 12:04:42
If an English player had the skills and potential of Carvalho then that player would've cost a lot more than £13 million. You'd be looking upwards of £25 million at least.

26.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 12:07:44
Stevie f, I for one would not say Carvalho is a Midfield genius but Dowell was a loan player that Everton had at the time no intention of selling.

Why would we help Everton make one of their player better when we can do it with one of our own.

27.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 13:47:37
Not from what I saw last season psycho - clough. If we could get our money back I’d be glad to see him go so that we can invest in a good striker.

In fact I’d hazard a guess that we’d have moved him in if we could get the money back. He delivered so little last season we’d be lucky to get 6 million back, that’s why he’s still here despite a poor return last season.

All that said though I’ll be over the moon to be proved wrong though 👍.

28.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 14:24:00
Lc I was merely comparing the 2, not much between them for me, except 1 cost us 13 mill, so we should have expected a bit more from him, PSYCHO CLOUGH you are living in fantasy land mate 25 mill? I haven’t noticed big clubs knocking our door down to get him, so he’s not exactly hot property is he?

29.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 14:52:40
2star he was a average player last season he had 1 good game followed by 3 where he went missing or wasn't bothered oniell sorted that out by putting him on the bench thought he had a right to be in eleven because of his price tag to me there's only olympiacos that we could just scrape money back for him and I would say he's probably worth 4 million at the minute if he has a good season this year it will double but we will never see the 13 million back for him not good enough.

30.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 16:21:57
Skegs I watched all the games last season and I never saw for 1 minute Carvs playing like he wasnt bothered. He was constantly pressing from the front. You also claim to know what's going on inside his head which is some gift! With regard to O'Neil dropping him that didn't really work out as it was one of the biggest clangers he made as manager. I still think he put him in against a physical Boro to try and prove a point. but we all know it ended up with egg on his face. The payment of 13 million is spread over his 5 year contract. SO up until this point we've paid about 4-5 million for him. Which is in line with your expert valuation. He has plenty of time to improve and build upon his undoubted talent. Having someone like Bostock (we are linked) at the base and Silva + Carvs combo infront would create some beautiful football.

31.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 18:07:38
Beautiful football lol 🤡🤣.

32.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 18:09:36
Skegs after the Bournemouth friendly in which Dias scored last season, some on here were saying that he was going to rip the championship apart, we’ all know how that ended, let’s see Silva in championship action before we start building him up, I sincerely hope he does ok, but we won’t know until the real test starts.

33.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 19:01:06
Skegs, I know you prefer the O'Neil way of hoofball with Yates and Watson in midfield and Murphy up top. But some of us like to watch attractive football. Giving these technical players the start will do that. Stevie I haven't said we are going to blast the league and I personally would be more than happy with achieving that 6th place spot.

34.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 19:08:33
Redtree mate I never accused you of saying any such thing, but just as you warned me not read too much into the olympiacos friendly, I am advising you the same about the palace friendly,

35.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 19:28:04
I haven't even gave an opinion on the palace game. I have just said a midfield of Silva, Carvs and a defensive midfielder is exciting.

36.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 20:17:41
Well you couldn’t have been judging anyone on the olympiacos game and certainly not Silva.

37.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 20:31:39
6Redtree where did you get that I preffered oniels football when did I ever say that lol I wasn't over the moon at oniell signing I preffered the Lincoln brothers for the Job but I was willing to give oniell a chance as I was Warburton and Pearce so why should I get my hopes up about someone I've never heard of 6 months and we will be moving on and you will be asking him and his freebies to go before then you need to read comments properly and getting facts right and I would be like a lottery winner if we made top 6 with the team we have now and even if we were top 6 come xmas do you think marankis will keep this man in charge and trust him to get us there by the end of the season no he will go for a bigger manager think about it no lose situation brings in a nobody if he does well by Xmas he goes for a bigger manager to finish season off if he's no good by Xmas blame the manager and sack him win win for marankis just saying 🤔😀.

38.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 21:47:37
I didn’t judge silva on the Palace or the Olympiakos game stevie. I think you need to take your own advice Skegs and get your facts right 😂😂. Although as we’ve already established you can read minds so telling the future must be another one of your abilities.

39.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 22:11:42
I was referring to what LC mentioned and I quote

'I would suggest if a English player had the skills, and potential that Carvalho has more people would be making a fuss of how good he is. '

Because English tend to cost more than foreign players. I'm not suggesting he should be valued anywhere near that amount just that if we paid £13 million for Carvalho's potential then an English player with a similar potential would've cost us probably twice that figure. Hope that clears that one up.
