Very interesting reading comments on here regarding VAR. I hate the the thing as much as internstional football breaks.
Its killing our game and its integrity. Its one thing having goal line technology but to have offside, accidental handball etc scrutinised so in depth is pathetic. Football is a fluid sport, not precise, nothing is exact. Offside is such a difficult thing to get right and in my view to be offside all of your body myst be beyond the last defender, as in all of the ball must cross the line for a goal to be given. This would make it easier to police and give the advantage to attacking teams and not defences.
Tv replays are not conclusive and cannot identify from some angles whether a player has been tripped. Football is a real time action and should not be judged by people in studios miles away. Let the rules be decided by the officials where a player is deemed to be offside and not so exact. Football is a game of mistakes, we all make mistakes so let the officials have the atonomy. If a player has been spotted doing something ilegal on the pitch then let retrospective punishment be applied. VAR is not dealing with shirt pulling and wrestling at corners so why use it speculatively when goals are scored and a minor misdameanor is discovered. Not once has a ref gone to the pitch side monitor and made the call himself, why? Because i feel its never clear enough and he wants to shed
responsibility. Bin VAR and simplify certain aspects of the game and keep calamity thst is live spectator sport, all this VAR stuff is baying to the armchair fan and not the punter who enjoys the uncertainty and excitement of being in the crowd enjoying the twoing and frowing of live footy!

Totally agree mate. watching MOTD. really putting me off this game now.

{Ed001's Note - just to point out, the pitchside monitors are something Mike Riley, as head of the PGMOL, has decided are not to be used in the Prem. It is the only competition in the world that uses VAR and doesn't refer decisions to the on-pitch ref to look at on a pitchside monitor.}

Just noticed that MOTD said "We will only show you before the injury occurs". Then in the studio. you can see the players ankle facing the other way?!

Football players are to blame for ruining the game, if they did not cheat, and some are very good at it VAR would not be needed.

It’s not var that’s ruining it, var is good it’s the persons that are watching the screens that are the problem. too much interpretation in the game regarding the rules.

Think Colin Murray as a soft spot for us which a breath of fresh air cus every other pundit/ presenter doesn’t give us an ounce of gratitude.
