OK, the truth about Grabban. I'm bored of the nonsense claiming he is doing well. He is not. Grabban is our main striker and starts almost every game so has far more chances than most of the other players to score. If Forest have a low chance conversion rate then in large part the buck rests with Grabban.

Last season Forest were near the bottom of the table on chance conversion rates (13.4% chances converted) . Charlton (14.5%) and Wigan (15.1%) were relegated with higher conversion rates.

So Forest were NOT kept up there by Lewis Grabban. They were kept up there by the defence and much maligned midfielders who included Yates!

More stats. This season so far Forest are second bottom with 2.2% conversion. Grabban has played in all of thos games and has a conversion rate of 0%. Absolute garbage I'm afraid.

So when Grabban was supposedly in form? He was still missing crucial chances before lockdown.

Wasted opportunities by 20/ 3/ 20

Big chances missed:

Patrick Bamford (Leeds) : 25
Lewis Grabban (Forest) : 17
Ollie Watkins (Brentford) : 15
Martyn Waghorn (Derby) : 14
Karlan Grant (Huddersfield) : 13

So Grabban was also the second most likely leading Champioship striker to miss a chance from "A situation where a player should reasonably be expected to score, " BEFORE lockdown. In other words if you give the ball to him on a plate then there is a good chance he will miss anyway.

This is our main striker guys.

I doubt you will see this information in your local newspaper.

Maybe a few of us should start a new blog or something as proper footy journalism isn't just quoting the boss and reporting other National newspaper reports.

{Ed001's Note - you could write the articles for our football-news-views site if you don't want to take the trouble of setting up your own site?}

More info on the striker topic and Forest. Here are the best players before lockdown in terms of conversion:-

Goal conversion percentage (more than 20 games played) :

Scott Hogan (Birmingham) : 43%
Chris Martin (Derby) : 43%
Jonathan Leko (West Brom/ Charlton) : 36%
Ollie Watkins (Brentford) : 32%
Lyle Taylor (Charlton) : 32%

Our very own Lyle Taylor. Who should be first choice striker?

No doubt in my mind grabban needs to drop to the bench for the derby game as a kick up the backside from the manager. If he continues with Grabban it is poor management as his form is terrible, what does that tell Taylor? Sorry pal a striker that can’t hit a barn door at the moment will still get to play ahead of you! So that’s 2 strikers down in the dumps, not even glimpsed our 3rd option! Taylor has got his nice contract that he wished for will he really push himself if this is the situation I don’t know, but he deserves a run of games to see what he can do, and let grabban get his form back from coming on as sub.

Manager sees Taylor in training so we have our new manager with fourteen new additions playing the same tactics as Lamouchi.
Cyclist you won't be impressed with taylor even if he's given a run in the side.
Luke freeman is a big problem at the moment as he clearly isn't fit.
Colback just dawdles about at walking pace and the minute a player goes near him passes backwards.
Stats don't give a true story as you have to get in those positions to score in the first place

Thats why martin is just a hold up striker who others feed off but doesn't get that many chances to actually score.
We missed the boat i'm afraid ivan toney was available and we should have gone all out to get him.
But we go out and sign 14 players of dubious quality instead.

It took him about 8 games last season to score a goal don't know why we got rid of walker, Taylor should start at least make grabs fight for his place as he knows no matter what we don't have another replacement apart from Taylor for to long we've brought midfielders or defenders in we could do worse than try the younger players upfront.

I completely agree that Toney would have been a great signing. He plays differently to Grabban too which is better for the manager/ coach.

Don't get me started on Tyler Walker! He should have been given more of a chance at Forest. I read an interesting article discussing recruitment to replace Toney should he come to - ironically- Forest in May. They concluded that Tyler Walker was the best player to replace Toney IF THEY PLAYED 4,2,3,1 but that Keiran Sadlier was the better option for their system. They rated Walker as the better finisher.

Could you make it up? Forest's recruitment policy is nonnsense. I've said it for a while, Walker was the best finisher at Forest by a country mile and perfect for playing the loan striker with his strength and pace to get through on goal off the shoulder of the defenders.

"If Peterborough are looking for a sole striker whose strength is their finishing and getting in behind, Walker is the right man for the job. However, if they want a similar player to Toney then Sadlier is the suitable option due to his all-around ability. "

Problem is cyclist if you say how it is on here your a moaner.
Get what your stats are saying.
Ive never been convinced grabban likes being a sole striker.
Think he'd score far more in a partnership.
But modern day coaches frown upon two up.
Think we've already seen hiw hughton will set up and its more of the same.

I've never understood the "you are a moaner" camp when people have valid criticisms.

Yes we are fans. We support the team every game. That shouldn't mean we should be happy clappers when we don't agree with how the club throws away our money on dodgy transfers through agents, lining their pockets or potentially laundering money for players we have never heard of. Funny how 90% of those players hardly play a game. Why have we never heard of them again Marinakis?

It is about opinions but some things are facts. This club throw away money buying loads of players who are at best as good as what we already have and we have for years. This season we have got in a few who can play at this level. It's a shame we lost Walker and Cash to pay for another ten.

Oh, I rate your posts FF79. I especially agree with your opinions on many of our managers/ coaches.
