Look we lost two nil not ten nil. Yes it could have been more but it was not humiliating. We may have looked a shambles but for anyone on here who were predicting a win or even a draw were not thinking straight. Nothing in pre season suggested we were ready or good enough. A major overhaul was needed whether we got promoted or not, that's the problem with over loading loans. We had no realistic yardstick to measure our progress so yesterday was that first opportunity. The team are largely strangers to each other and in uncharted territory. All the acquisitions may appear good at the level they were performing at but could they or can they do it at this highest level. Yesterday was that first opportunity and it may not have looked good. Trust me, every player will look back and be grateful for yesterdays experience and find a way to perform to their best in this coldrun of no mercy. Learning is experience and it's a hard lesson and be jasus cooper will feel exactly the same. More players will come in so it's going to be a tops turvy ride for the next few months. So it's up to cooper to galvanise, like he did last season and hopefully take the fans with him with eye catching football. I really hope he is not out of his depth and can survive the on coming pressures starting with a display, the result secondary, against the hammers.

Eye catching parking the bus Rutters it was total garbage. Went in there box about twice in 90mins and that corner. well?‍♂️an embarrassment with no positives to draw from it . ?.

Yes rutland, could not agree more, if you start a new job and you get things a bit out of kilter on your first day, would you say to the boss "give us a break". Of course you would. These are professional players I know, so give them a chance to perform.

Nice post Rutland.
The next couple of months will be a test to see if Forest have chosen wisely with the player's they have brought in?
This a major step up in terms of skill and speed.
If forest can survive this season which I hope they can then the next few seasons will be building the foundations of a Premier League team and not one hamstrung together in a short space of time.
Getting promotion is a great but a big gamble on spending big and getting the right player's in.

Ballons, there are things to draw from it, our introduction to the Premier league is a step into it future, what if we have the same results as last season to start with. Trust in the club. I do.

I feel the performance was a not embarrassing but j that’s no bad thing as it shows how much cooper has raised our bar .

Worrall's comment about Forest 'matching' Newcastle for the first hour are a tad off the mark. Sure, Forest matched them in score, but bleddy hell, we were totally overrun by the Geordies. Some observations:
Johnno was pants and he needs to up up decision making. Trying cocky flicks and smart pieces of football against an established Prem team was pointless. Ever time he received it the ball was literally taken off him within seconds, due to silly decisions. Niakhate needs to find some speed from somewhere, looked very nervous. Toffolo was, for most parts, very average. Mangala and Awoniyi looked decent when they came on. And I'll say it again, Mighten is not prem. Send him out on loan or (sorry) get rid. The relegation demons love sentiment, and we can't give them food.

Yep that was it summed up pretty perfect Chim apart from saying Worrell was ripped to pieces by St max.
People can bury there head in the sand if they want but we were totally mullered. Yes we will get better and yes I think we will stay up. We need 10 wins and 10 draws for the magic 40pts.
Thats not in sight at the moment ?.

My north east friends were texting me last night he reckons newcastle are miles of top six and that we made them look exceptional, it wasn’t a gloat he supported and cheered every good result we got last season, like many fans he’s glad to see forest in the prem . Time to stop saying we’re back where we belong, all we have is a a chance to be where we’d like to belong.

Good post and realistic analysis Rutland. We had 8 debutants. I kept thinking of the words of Springsteen s great song “Only Strangers”. Let’s get a grip and keep things in perspective.

Don't know what's in sight at the moment, heads not in the clouds certainly, but definitely not burid. Suppose it's my rose tinted glasses, 10 games in then I will wear my hitch hikers guide to the galaxy Sun glasses,

Still reckon Cafu, Taylor and Mighten need to leave. And that would mean four or five still have to come in to fill a 25-man squad.

100% TWF, they have to leave, albeit they looked no worse than any of the others yesterday but I think Most can do better than they did yesterday.

Not only eight players making there debut but apart from Henderson and Colback none of the rest of the team have played in the prem so let's give them a chance i am sure Cooper will sort it.

I have confidence we will adapt, my only concern is how quickly we do it. First game nerves would have played a huge part. But at least our lot now have an idea of how ferociously fast paced and relentless it's going to be: and that's all to the good.
