Is there a 'rightmove' equivalent in football? ie European agents all have a set of edited videos of their players which aim to tempt football directors into buying? . Surely these same directors with due diligence would have contacted their opposite number at Liverpool and ask why they had a player on their books for 6 years and never played him . Is our club typical as most clubs seem to import players from Europe . However it's far easier to go to Stockport to watch a player than Switzerland! But I suspect players are bought in on the strength of a video or two . To me only agents get rich out of this as we get players who cannot perform in the championship never mind the premier league . The list of such players at our club we have moved or could move on is almost endless. I cannot help thinking the same people are making the same mistakes as they did when over a dozen players were brought in seasons before - how many of these players still remain? My serious worry is that these transfers are done over the head of the manager. So if Cook had been fit on Saturday, it would have meant none of european new signings were considered capable of starting for the first team . In SC, we have a Welsh premier league manager and I think will go far - but not necessarily with us.

I tell you what doc we ain't half signed some crap. Awoniyi looks like the new Silenzi. Toffalo had the cheek to hold out for more money he's mile off prem quality. Biancone ?‍♂️. I could go on but won't. ?.

I get what you are saying, but think Niakhate will probably start ahead of Cook, as great as he was when he came in Jan I think it was for us, I see him as cover this season. I'm also pretty sure Mangala will also be starting next Sunday, he had arrived with less than a week with the team before Sat. Richards obvs unlucky with his injury but again, think he will probably be a regular starter.

I don't think these players are being bought over his head (don't think I have read any evidence of this) but think we will see some time before all are blended in. It does look like we have decent strength in depth (I know we are still trying to get another striker and attack mid) and just hope us fans can be patient while it all settles and we start to click soon.

GK42, you can only compare players you recently had and their replacements that the club buy. Zinc as an example . Ok he struggled to score, but was always challenging in the middle and taking players on and ran and ran . Compare him to Linguard principally but then Mangala who showed no drive in his 5 minutes Awoniyi is nowhere near Davies, enough said . If as the Nottingham post has said if we have bought Moreno another full back - what is going on at our club? We were made a laughing stock last time buying Arter, Jenkins and 11 others . This time we have spent 80 M on whom? Is the new centre back we bought for 14m better than Fig? If we had bought Haaland for 50 of those 80, it would have been money well spent . Don’t get me wrong, 0’Brien, Tuffulo, and Williams will do well. Henderson is good but a loan . We still have no striker, to make the point Lyall Taylor loaned out last season is on our bench!
I for one am worried at the end of August we will be lucky to have a point . There will be people on this site I have no doubt beginning to murmur which will get gradually louder .

gingerkid, We need players like Cook. We hardly have any players with prem experience. If the recruitment team have got anything wrong, it is that they have underestimated how important that will be.

Well thanks for your depressing view of the signings after just one game.
Think I'll sell my season card and go fishing as I'm only going to be disappointed every week watching forest. ?.

Sorry Doc, but that kind of says it all, Mangala got 5 mins and being criticised, I know everyone has their own opinion and entitled to them, but 5 after mins, really?

He will prove a decent signing and hope to see him start on Sunday, think it's pretty unfair to be making judgements on players either way just yet.

Cook, I didn't say get rid Red but said see him as cover, I agree he gives his all and was great when he came last year but don't think we bought Niakhate to bench warm is all.

The sides got to settle and gel also we do need a midfielder who can see a pass. Garner hopefully because he’s kidding himself if he thinks he’s going to get in Man U side. Then we need a forward who can hold ball up aswel as score. because I don’t think awoniyi is the answer
Go and get Dennis from Watford . 20m bargain.
Mgw price is ridiculous. The 35m we offered was a very good offer for an unproven player. Wolves are stupid. And we need to stop going after wingbacks.
It’s going to be a tough season. Just be patient and get behind the team.

Doc, I think you could end up being right but I think it’s too early to say it with conviction, I’m worried about the signings but in all honesty we’ve probably spent the right amount of money for us and that doesn’t buy you much. It may be that the team that got us promoted would do better - we Will never know .
I get your angst, I really do, Saturday was embarrassing, we were no where near even landing a telling punch but it’s too soon to assume that we are so far out of our depth that such a performance is the norm - if it is sheeps 11 point record is going to be broken!
