With so many rumours on striker transfer targets being quashed (e. g. Vaz Te), my educated guess would be Maynard as the striker we would go for.

The only reason that it maybe someone else is Billy likes then big, strong and "target man" style.

CROUCH= No Way he will come to us.
VAZ TE = Thought this would be good/likely but hasn't someone from inside the club said no.
RHODES = No way, too expensive.
C COLE = No thanks
SHARP= Not interested
E BLAKE= Unsure - possible
DOYLE= Again, think its a player Billy would like. target man, hard working.
LONG = Why would he come to us when he plays most weeks for WB?

Unless someone is being looked at that no one has thought of, then it must be Maynard/Ebanks Blake or Doyle.

Appreciate these rumours are not new (And I may have missed someone) but I think Maynard would be my preferred choice.

Does anyone think that due to the start we've had, Billy & Co could decide to wait and see where we are at Christmas B4 signing anyone else. I know as in any line of business you should strengthen while on top, but we're doing ok, have a very large squad and who knows what injuries may come along and who we need to replace. I'm not saying WE SHOULD wait, i'm just wondering that if there was someone out there we really wanted we would have moved by now. No matter how flush we are, I don't want us spending money for the sake of it. Also historicly, signing someone this close to the deadline is usually at an inflated price.

{Ed034's Note - no, why would they do that?? They know what they need and four good results isn't going to change that. Billy's far too experienced to think that way
