Im sure SP is more likely to use a specific formation at home, and i'm guessing 442 and away from home to be comfortable slipping into a 451 if the 442 leaves us a little open.

I base this thinking on the observations I have made so far.

1. SP is organised and he likes his players to know what is expected of them and understands about rhythm and keeping a winning team together.

2. Though tactically astute SP also has an attitude of "let them worry about us" and therefore I can't see the formation being changed every week.

3. Although I have not attended the games, from what I understand the pre season friendlies so far have seen us play with width.

What ere you thoughts?

Not many clubs really play 442 as a system any more. I think it should be something like 4-1-2-1-2 or 4-2-3-1, with fitting people like Paterson, Reid and Mackie in the line up that works well with Lansbury and vaughan behind and then someone like Lars upfront.

Lansbury I think is wasted sat in a holding role (though he can do it) we want him up top somewhere causing havoc with his vision, movement and passing. if I remember right he wore the number 10 v Porto so I'm hoping SP sees his strength is in going forward. He'd cause havoc in a free role this season or sat in behind wether part of a 3 (pref with Reidy and Pato either side of him) or even behind a target man such as big Lars
