Forgive my ignorance but i actually thought putin would have set his defences around moscow, never to pass into other areas. With such forward advances attacking everything in front. Then i woke up after my nanna nap. Realised it was hughton i was dreaming about.

My daughters is just about to fly back from Prague where she has been visiting her Czech friends who are very fearful indeed. I’ll be relieved when she is home.
I remember as a 15 and 16 year old playing in the Notts Alliance for Sherwood Rangers against a team called Dnipro Ukrainians! They were always difficult and very hard opponents and there were several real punch ups! I think Putin, in the long term, has underestimated his opponents and will fail. Russia is a gangster state where unlike say the Mafia in Italy the criminals are actually in Government not opposing the state. The Russian economy should be enormous like the USAs whereas it’s actually many times smaller than Italy s due to the massive corruption. Analysts say the billionaire oligarchs who are Putins supporters ( including Abramovitch) are overnight 39 billion dollars worse off. I think eventually his own side will bump him because he’s costing them money.
It’s like in Bob Dylan’s great song “Joey” about a gangster he knew that’s “ It’s peace and quiet that we need to go back to work again “.
