Hindsight is a wonderful thing I know, but when you look back to when Fawaz came to our rescue, one of the first things he did was to sack Steve Cotterill. Cotterill had not actually done anything wrong and was sacked before we had even started the season. We assumed that because now we had some serious money we were going to bring in a big name manager .Names like Redknapp and Hoddle were mentioned but who did we end up with ? Sean O'Driscoll !!! I just don't understand the problem with our club ! We have had experienced managers like Davies and McLeish and novice ones like Psycho. We've had money and spent a fortune for a championship club and now we are in a position where we're technically skint - it seems no matter who the gaffer is or who we buy we always end the season disappointed - Steve Cotterill meanwhile has just guided his 3rd different club to promotion. Looking back that could have been the worst decision our owner made.

too many people with short memories. Cotternil was getting an absolute barracking by our fans. It was only when SOD was brought in that we started to resemble a team that was able to stave off relegation that season. We were beyond dire under him.
It was the players who asked Fawaz to bring SOD back who had only just gone to Crawley a month earlier.
Short term memories afflicting too many fans

Quite right Deeler, although he has built a good team at Bristol around 3-5-2 with some experienced hungry heads, and a system that gets goals around the team and a strong defence

O'Driscoll was given money to spend. Cotterill had none !

Glen Hoddle would be a good choice I think. not that he would ever come, but his club record was good and was sacked by England for none footballing reasons

Red in exile and Deeler Bristol City got promoted a country mile of every one else and so did Notts County when he was manager there, a system that gets goals and a strong defence sounds good to me also as Wilderbeast states he was given no money. Whether he plays 3-5-2, 4-4-3 or even the christmas tree formation he knows how to get a team up we never gave him that chance

Sorry, but Cotterill was a very dire manager, and getting rid of him was absolutely the thing to do at the time. I know there is all the talk above about his formations, but he only had one when he was with us, and that was hoofing the ball to McCleary and hoping he did something. I think Cotterill is better in the lower leagues, so will be interesting to see how City do next season. It was luck and Blackstock's goals that kept us up rather than him.

I agree C Red, Glenn Hoddle would be very good for us i believe, he is highly rated by players and managers a like and England always played good football under him. We won Le Tournoi against Brazil, Italy and France and the French fans actually applauded our play in that tournament!!
Glenn said he thought he had the job at City Ground but SOD got it instead!
