Fawaz has said from day one that youth will be important to the club as a way of maintaining a sustainable future. One big concern is that as Gary Brazil has already mentioned, the production line from the academy is NOT AS STRONG as previously. It will take a number of years before it begins to pick up and fingers crossed we'll get CAT A rating too. So the best option is to spot those gems in the lower leagues like Pato. Issue I have is that Billy is all about buying ready made players. Pato was signed due to NED having been his manager at Walsall and having close hand knowledge. Fawaz is building for the future - we need better scouting and hopefully the development squad will continue to strengthen.

I've said it before and I'll say it again I don't think our strikers are the problem they score everywhere else seems more like the coaching in my opinion

Great news we are putting our effort into young talented players! As for Miller I got to say he was never given a chance by manager or fans. You have to get a run in a team to show what you can do and sadly he wasn't but he's not the 1st mcgoldric was the same and even injurded he's outscored any of our team grrrr kind of makes you mad don't it? i'm not a billy hater but I do think he needs help on the forward side of tactics. And why not keep the trend of young talent by grabbing Andre grey from luton or fir a fair amount more Britt Asobolongo over the summer and see what young hungry talent can do?we could always loan to buy and help our cause these last few weeks.

I don't mind if our strikers don't score. Reason I say this is, it's not the lack of goals, albeit they are lacking from our fwds, that has cost us 3 points on more than a few occasions, it's been daft goals conceded late on. We have a style of play where we have a wide range of players who can assist and also score too. If strikers don't score but their all round game and presence allows others to score, and assist, and ultimately win us 3 points then fine. We need to be more astute as a team in the final moments of a game to hold on to 3 points, or better still, go for the kill earlier rather than sit back under pressure

{Ed034's Note - you could say though that if the strikers had scored that extra goal, the defence would not be under pressure and that mistake would still not have cost us (I know this is what will get sent through, but several times lol)

I get it now, we don't need a 20 goal a season striker we need a 20 goal a season defender who will get the all important goals to kill games off but still be able to shore up the defence in the final minutes.
you said it yourself that we need to kill games off and to do that you need goals, we have had plenty from the midfielders therefore we needed the strikers to add to those (or the defenders? lol)

It is a bit of a paradox, I do agree, but my point ultimately is that, its our style of play which seems to not allow our strikers to score that one extra goal we often need

Good old bill working his magic again. hearing now delayed so that means he should be ok to be on the bench for sat game. i'm assuming that is why he has put his "apologies" in.

We sign strikers who can score, they play for us and don't score. We sell them and they score.
