Dean Saunders is the man Fawaz wants, he has agreed a short term contract to the end of the season. could be announced as soon as this afternoon.

{Ed034's Note - someone will get one right soon ;-)

1.) 27 Mar 2014
Fawaz has said manager to be installed by end of next week. Surely wouldn't say this today if he was going to appoint someone this afternoon.

Lincoln Rob

2.) 27 Mar 2014
I'm struggling to dream up any criteria by which this would be a good appointment. I understand it took him ten games to record a win in his last job and he was dismissed following relegation.

If true, this smacks of a desperate sense of needing to fill the void.

3.) 27 Mar 2014
Hope not was bought in to save wolves and we all know how that went.

Kev

4.) 27 Mar 2014
God I hope not he looked completely bewildered at Wolves so he won't know what day it is here!

5.) 27 Mar 2014
Saunders 2nd fav

6.) 27 Mar 2014
Out of all the available managers, Saunders would be pretty far down the list in my opinion.

7.) 27 Mar 2014
This wouldn't surprise me and I think it might be the best bet so we could sit down properly and get the right man in the summer. can't see many in line that would want to take this job on with possibly ten or so games left.

8.) 27 Mar 2014
God no please I am sorry but he cannot motivate a class of kids to eat cream eggs. I guess nobody wants it so we scrap the bottom of the pan. rubbish with wolves and Doncaster. sorry not rubbish. total garbage. please don't be true

9.) 27 Mar 2014
The shorter the better!

10.) 27 Mar 2014
Just read an article online which makes the point that all of our identified targets are currently out of work and - in many cases - have been out of work long enough to suggest that no one's in any rush to employ them.

Should we be looking at poaching current, proven talent?

11.) 27 Mar 2014
Saunders is the type of guy who WOULD take a short term contract.

12.) 27 Mar 2014

What a good job he did at wolves! Can sako follow him? Lol. Bet the sheep think were a carry on film. If this is the level we are looking at can't we have Brian laws, at least he is a forest man.

13.) 27 Mar 2014
Peltier has signed

14.) 27 Mar 2014
Why is McGovern there?surley he didn't advice the owner on getting dead Saunders lol, I don't care anymore about the money I won't the owner out if this is the best he can do. Saunders lol, derby must be wetting themselves, we are becoming a laughing stock

15.) 27 Mar 2014
I'd literally take French and Saunders ahead of Dean Saunders, I wouldn't trust that man to manage to get his socks on the right feet in the morning.

16.) 27 Mar 2014
@ Lincoln Red, he said Hopefully by the end of next week not that we will. Problem with a few of the managers linked with is that are on either Gardening Leave or in dispute with previous club which makes it hard to appoint as need permission to speak too.

17.) 27 Mar 2014
And would you be happy if this one was right Ed?

{Ed034's Note - I would back him

Hi Ed, how are you reading this situation at the moment. Are Forest saying the job is till the end of the season then they will look how the manager has done, and that's why people are saying no, and are we just looking at people who are out of work. I would like to see your opinion.
One other thing to all the people giving Fawaz a hard time look at portsmouth and thank your lucky stars he is here and cares.
Cohen fan

{Ed034's Note - yes that is what I can make of it. have the job until the end of the season and we will negotiate then. for me if we can find the right person, we shouldn't be doing it that way. if we fawaz isn't 100% sure but McGovern is advising, he may look at it as a trial run to see how he and the new manager will work together

fawaz please no

20.) 27 Mar 2014
He was at the Charlton game sat in the Directors box. I think he is the last resort!

If he comes my season ticket goes
Red robin

{Ed034's Note - hope he comes then

22.) 27 Mar 2014
To the irrational people slating Saunders, it is all rumours, there is no official suggestion what so ever to say he will or is even being considered. Some people will believe anything, honestly, you probably read the red top newspapers and believe everything they say.

23.) 27 Mar 2014
Bob resario to come back as manager to sort our strikers out.

About as believeable as some of there rumours. Let's just see who!

24.) 27 Mar 2014
Dean saunders is being seriously considered by forest as he will accept the short term contract

25.) 27 Mar 2014
Stop me if you think I'm paranoid but I smell a rat with all the ex rams trying to put one over us ie with billy just gone dean Saunders maybe coming in, john McGovern made ambassador pulling strings, Patrick bamford scoring for fun, sending out so called strikers on loan and they can't fail in front of goal, Neil wanock ex pie, turning us down, same with mock mccarthorse, now psycho, David platt nearly putting us out of business, I could continue! Is this a conspiracy against nffc, why?Where? When

26.) 27 Mar 2014
Crikey just did a huge sigh of relief he actually wants Ron Saunders from the Villa even though he must be in his 80s he'd be a class act! Built the Villas European Cup winning team!

27.) 27 Mar 2014
I know this is a rumour site but Saunders. ? talk about scrapping the barrell! We are coming across as being desperate in the press. what are the real reasons for Warnock and Pearcey turning us down. ?
If you are going to sack a manager at this stage of the season, then surely have someone lined up and ready to go?
Eastbourne Red.

28.) 27 Mar 2014
There's a short straw. and Saunders is no straw. Completely out of his depth as a Manager (all his posts will show this) - good player in his time, no manager.

29.) 27 Mar 2014
I think Saunders would do a good job for us, it was him that got Doncaster promoted, he did a cracking job at Wrexham, ok he took wolves down but the damage was done before he turned up, I for one think he is a better choice than Zola, give him a chance, anyway he may be the only one who would accept the terms on offer

30.) 27 Mar 2014
Saunders is a smart man. I also think Zola is overrated. Zola should have walked into the prem when he had all those Udinese players. People read the Sun and Mirror too much and don't use their brains!

{Ed034's Note - my choice would be Zola. He got given a group of player mainly for abroad and got them to okay great football. You think that job was easy to do?? The Watford team that destroyed us home and away is the best side I have seen in the division for a long time.
I take it I am not using my brain then, for thinking this....oh and I stopped buying either one of those papers years ago and will never buy one again.
Ps what have you even mentioned those paper for?? I am baffled

31.) 27 Mar 2014
I agree that his Watford side played good football but ultimately he did worse than I would have expected with that group (they can't have played that well consistently of they would have finished in the top two). Don't forget we played GREAT FOOTBALL at times under O'Driscoll and with the money we have had we could have progressed under him.

I mentioned those papers because it just seems like most of the time it seems to me that people are just spouting what they have read when they comment about prospective players or managers.

The biggest wory for me with Zola is that he is likely to be off to a "bigger club" if he has any success. I know I can't be sure but he is very high profile. I'd like to see someone in for the long haul (like O'Driscoll was!)

{Ed034's Note - I think it would be great of he was with us and got an offer off a bigger club, as it would mean he is doing a good job.
I'd rather someone who is ambitious and wants to go as far as he can.
The great football under sod was few and far between. The stuff Watford were playing was every other week.
To get them doing that over the course of a couple of months is impressive and getting third was a great effort.
He then gets his squad torn apart and has to start from scratch, by bringing in new players, under a part transfer embargo.
I would love to see him at our club and see what he can create with the good players we already have and the ones he brings in

32.) 27 Mar 2014
MY comments about the papers aren't about all of you folks. I see a lot of informed opinion on here too, including from Ed.

{Ed034's Note - even me....you sweet talker you lol
