Off the bird site and just mentioned on the radio

"Steve Bruce says Reading have made bid for Jack Hobbs. He will be back at Hull on Monday. Forest have to match the bid. #hcafc #nffc"

what do we reckon ed?

{Ed034's Note - I reckon we should match their bid

1.) 11 Jan 2014
Do not pay them anything

2.) 11 Jan 2014
Hobbs has been fantastic all season & it's imperative that we keep hold of him & match Reading's bid.

3.) 11 Jan 2014
How can they recall him? Thought we went through all this! Billy said they can only recall him in an emergency like they can't fill their squad.

4.) 11 Jan 2014
Ed Steve Bruce is talking rubbish yesterday Adkins said the club can't but anyone till the new owners give the green light so what's changed is Bruce telling the truth

5.) 11 Jan 2014
I would agree that if it's 600k then it wld seem cheap. However the whole thing jus seems wrong if it's a season long loan an they can only recall him if they have injury problems. An they clearly Don't! Then how can it be right the trouble is like in life a deals no longer a deal these days. A perfect example I shook hands with a customer last week on a deal he then asked if he could take us handshake back 10 mins later as he'd changed his mind!proves a handshakes worth very little these days! But bear in mind we would have had a signed agreement again it would seem in Hulls case worth Nothing! Rant over head hope you had a good day at the Game btw

6.) 11 Jan 2014
Very true fact about Hobbs. Let's hope billy gets in ASAP. Awesome form at the moment who plays good along side lacellas. #YouReds!

7.) 11 Jan 2014
Listened to Steve Bruce interview. It's Nottingham Steve, not Notts Forest. How rude! Sign the boy up Fawaz. Please.

8.) 11 Jan 2014
All depends on what the loan contract says

9.) 11 Jan 2014
I agree don't pay them not because I don't won't Hobbs but because he has stated he wants to stay. Stop me if I'm wrong but all he has to do is tell Bruce I'm not moving anywhere but forest, they can't force him to sign. this however could mean we lose him until he is a free agent in 5 months time

10.) 11 Jan 2014
BD says it has got nothing to do with reading, Wigan or anyone else. It's clear Hobbs wants to stay so it's between NFFC and hull only. The two clubs need to work it out. Hobbs has done a hamstring.

Jack Hobbs is ours if we want him. End of. Reading are persons.

11 Jan 2014 18:47:35
Tell Hobbs that if he agrees to stay put and sit tight we pay no money for him and give him a bigger signing on fee in the Summer ;)

12.) 11 Jan 2014
Do not pay them anything!just buy some one else for 3mill instead of spending 500 k on hobs genius.

13.) 11 Jan 2014
A loan deal was put in place with a permo deal at the end. now hull realise he's worth something they want to disragard the agreement as it suits them. I say stick two figures up at them and take it to the fa.

14.) 11 Jan 2014
It is if we actually place a bid we have had two weeks to do so and have not Worried we will lose him and also not sign anyone before the window closes Billy keeps saying he advises and recommends sounds familiar

15.) 11 Jan 2014
Off the bird site again just before 7pm

"#NFFC fans, Nigel Adkins has confirmed #readingfc can't sign anyone until they get a takeover. Steve Bruce is telling porkies #hcfc"

16.) 11 Jan 2014
Good comment ed

17.) 11 Jan 2014
End of the day its up to hobbs if he tells bruce to do one I want to stay at forest & won't sign for anyone else can't see he can do owt about it, if they recall hobbs without good reason ie play him in their starting 11 then it looks like they have gone back on their word & who would want to deal with them again

18.) 11 Jan 2014
If he has done a hamstring Hobbs may be out for quite a while. If Wilson out still it means bringing back Collins or moving Halford again. Not ideal with Lichaj injured and reliant on Harding today.

19.) 11 Jan 2014
If you listen to Steve Bruce interview, he actually says that Ultimately it is down to Hobbs.
So if he wants to stay at Forest then there is not a lot Hull can do about it. They can't make him sign for Reading.
I really feel that Forest don't need to pay a fee if the player is buying into us

20.) 11 Jan 2014
11 Jan 2014 19:53:29
The only way Jack will be sold is if another club come in and make an offer, hull accept BUT jack hobbs has to agree to these terms, from what I know, Jack loves it here so why would he agree terms?
Surely a move can't go through, Hull won't be able to recall him as there is no emergency, and at the end of Jacks loan spell he will be near enough out of contract so he'll be a freebie.
I can see why this deal is dragging along, Fawaz probably doesn't see why we have to pay 600k or so now when we can get him for free in the summer.

21.) 11 Jan 2014
It doesn't matter who put what bid in. If he doesn't want to go. then we snap him up for nothing in summer if billy doesn't pull his finger out now

22.) 11 Jan 2014
There was that jerno and that agent on bbd notts saying about how steve bruce was very good at playing the press etc to boost value of players etc. this is probably all tactics to make us pay for something we will get for nowt come end of season. don't worry. fawas isn't stupid.

23.) 11 Jan 2014
Tell you what if they're willing to spend 2.5 million on Wilson, Hobbs is worth 5 million by those standards, 600k is a steal

24.) 11 Jan 2014
You keep saying its a snip/bargain/steal at 600k but that is 600k we shouldn't have to spend due to an agreement between two clubs. if hull hold us to ransom and we end up paying for hobbs other clubs will all do the same with there players that are on loan. then a season long loan will not be a season long loan if the player plays well in the first half of the season. football is a shambles.

25.) 11 Jan 2014
Ed, what is your understanding of the loan deal, like others who have posted here, I thought it was reported that it was a season long loan which effectively meant a free transfer at the end - how come Hull can recall and sell him to another club?

{Ed034's Note - my understanding is at the start of the season both billy, hull and Hobbs all agreed he would be our player all season and will be only recalled if hull had an injury crisis. This was because hull wanted to think him for his service.
At the end of the season he'd then be a free argent and Hobbs has already agreed a deal or join us.
Now hull have gone back on their deal and are now trying to get money for the player, even though they said he could leave for free.

26.) 11 Jan 2014
Dont matter what the price! if Mr Hobbs wants to stay then I think it shoud be up to the Player and take a stand that

A-He wants to stay.
B-He likes what is going on here
C-He enjoys Nottingham.
D-All the Above.

27.) 12 Jan 2014
Both billy, hull and Hobbs?

28.) 12 Jan 2014
Ed, based on that fact alone, Hobbs should tell Hull to do one, even if it means playing in the reserves for the rest of the season.

Why should he let them benefit from a fee if they have gone back on their word to him.

I know it won't be beneficial to us but they need to be taught a lesson

{Ed034's Note - they shouldn't but I'm hoping we can pay a small nominal fee, to secure him for the rest of the season

29.) 12 Jan 2014
Davies would do the same, and any other manager. if you could get money for someone rather than let them go for free, it makes financial sense to do so. its business i'm afraid, its a ruthless world

{Ed034's Note - you also have to build relationships, show you are honest and think about the player. He's not a piece if furniture they are selling

30.) 12 Jan 2014
Exactly what I said about George Boyd

{Ed034's Note - completely different. They would not send us parts of his medical history. Without that we could not sigh him

31.) 12 Jan 2014
Pay the money for Hobbs and Vaughan and then we can move on for a left back and a striker

32.) 12 Jan 2014
What everyone fails to understand is the position Hobbs will be in tomorrow. If Reading have had an offer accepted he will go there. Hull and Reading are playing a canny game with us. Hull want money for a player they get nothing for in June. Reading either force us to pay up which means we lose cash for other players or get the player which weakens us.

For Hobbs - if we don't pay Hull up - either get a 3 year deal with Reading on a guaranteed say £10k per week. or wait till the end of the season and risk a Cohen like injury on the last day and no deal with anyone. If you had a family you'd take the offer on the table. even if you love forest. We're really just being done by Hull and Reading.

33.) 12 Jan 2014
The slave trade was abolished years ago. players have the upper hand, and if hobbs wants to play at forest, that's where he will play.

34.) 12 Jan 2014
Regarding the post about Reading not able to sign anyone until takeover is done, I've also been told this from a Reading Season ticket holder too.
