Lewis Grabban now being approached by Norwich according to SSN - I thought he had already signed with Cardiff so it looks like he is still available.

1.) 04 Jun 2014
Hooper to us then?

2.) 04 Jun 2014
Deeney and Vydra will do :) or pay the tax bill #worrying

Sorry for asking guys, but what's this about the tax bill?

4.) 05 Jun 2014
NEP reporting we have an outstanding tax bill of around £1.8m which is due end of July. I believe this to be a normal process but being jumped upon to try and create a fire by some people.

{Ed034's Note - its not normal for them to chase, but the club have stated it will be sorted shortly

5.) 05 Jun 2014
Lewis grabban has signed for Norwich this morning

{Ed034's Note - £3m plus add ons. Big money that

6.) 05 Jun 2014
Grabban is a done deal and it looks like Forest are on the verge of completing a deal for Peltier too.

The tax-bill is a non-story. It's quite normal for these bills to be paid late (in fact it's great business sense). I think someone in the media still has it in for Forest.

{Ed034's Note - grabban has signed for Norwich and it is not normal for a club to be threatened with court to pay a tax bill.
the club are in the process of sorting out a lot of things behind closed doors, which has meant this has happened and the club also know these things need to stop happening and that is one of the big reasons fawaz is bringing in a CEO

7.) 05 Jun 2014
Forest slow off the blocks again always the bridesmaid and never the bride. I suppose well get our twenty goal striker in january when no one else wants em. When are we going to shape up

{Ed034's Note - blimey

8.) 05 Jun 2014
Personally Don't think Grabben is worth £3m+, Peltier would be good signing. Ed I think HMRC issued over 20 Winding Up orders to Football teams last year so might be more common then thought, but agree that is why need CEO ASAP

{Ed034's Note - still not good enough from a club of our status

9.) 05 Jun 2014
When I said "Grabban is a done deal" I obviously meant to Norwich, I was replying to the post above mine.

Regarding the tax bill - It is a non-story. It will get paid and in terms of 'business sense', provided there is no prosecution, it will do more good than harm. I'd rather have £1.8m in the Forest bank accruing interest for an extra few months than sat in HMRC's coffers.

Forest aren't the only club in the country to under-go a court order. The bigger clubs seem to do it more than the smaller clubs, in fact.

The story doesn't worry me at all anyway. If anything, it really get's on my nerves that modern football seems to be more about business and finance that it does about the football itself.

{Ed034's Note - oh ok lol my mistake. Sounded like you were saying to us.
regarding the bill. how is the bad publicity doing us good? if it was the best thing to do and is doing us good, why is it not standard practice amongst all clubs to do this??
The story does not worry me one bit, but to say it's more good than harm is a crazy statement

10.) 05 Jun 2014
I don't think it's crazy. It's hardly front-page news. I don't think many people, other those associated with Forest, are aware of the court order. We might get some ribbing from Direby and Festa fans but it oesn't bother me. It happens a lot in football, to my knowledge anyway.

If 'bad publicity' was detrimental to a football club then the likes of Man City, Newcastle and Leeds in years gone by, would've sent them down the tubes, but there still here. And still succesful! (not counting the latter obviously).

And iff bad publicity was detrimental to a footballer Joey Barton would be on the dole! :)

{Ed034's Note - bad publicity is just that, bad. It's hardly good that we are having the inland revenue are chasing us for money. It won't put the club at risk but who says that a player decides to go to someone else, rather than us, due to this bad press?? I'm not saying that'll happen, but it's a possibility.
It's crazy that this can be turned into a positive story.

11.) 05 Jun 2014
Whilst I'm sure the tax bill will be paid, what I find crazy and I'm sure as a businessman yourself Ed, you'll agree, is that fans think it's no big deal the bill hasn't been paid yet, the money is better off in Forests bank etc.
As a business, which is what Forest is, you make sure you pay HM Inland Revenue and HM Customs and Excise first.
I'm sure it won't come to this but they have more power than any other organisation, they can enter your premises, by force if necessary, without a warrant and seize your assets. Unfortunately Miller is already gone.

{Ed034's Note - it's bad publicity and when you are trying to sell the club to investers, sponsors or players it is not a good example.
As a businessman I want my company accounts and profiles on both businesses to read good, for many reasons. Paying late is not going to help do that.
I said on a previous post, if this was benefiting us doing it this way, then every club would do it.

12.) 05 Jun 2014
I'm not turning this into a positive story, I'm saying it's a non-story. In 12-months time no one will care that this happened.

Perhaps I am crazy. Or maybe you're melodramatic xx

{Ed034's Note - you said it will do us more good than harm. I go back to saying it isn't going to do any serious harm but of this was going to do us good, then all clubs would do this.
If you are a regular to this site you will know I am very relaxed and do not go over the top on any story, as I am not on this.
This is poor from the club, but these things can happen and it is not a problem

13.) 06 Jun 2014
I'm getting lost here- has grabban sign for the revenue?

14.) 06 Jun 2014
Of course he hasn't signed for the revenue, he signed for Norwich, the main part of this thread is the unpaid tax bill, which I feel is poor on one hand but on the other just confirms further the need for a CEO which we know the club are working hard on, at this precise moment things like the unpaid bill is a concern because it's slack, I would be more concerned if there was no mention of more support within the hierarchy. Let's all calm down, accept mistakes and trust the club are going to do all they can to ensure these embarrassing episodes are reduced in the future.

15.) 06 Jun 2014
Lol. Talk about missing the joke :-)

16.) 06 Jun 2014
Must have been a good joke to miss it! Wilson close to signing.

17.) 06 Jun 2014
Wilson close to signin? Have I missed somethin ed?

{Ed034's Note - if you have, then I have missed it too
