It's such a shame no one takes the league cup seriously anymore. I'm old enough to remember Scouces in the Wembley final and John O'hare beating Phil Thompson for pace in the Old Trafford replay. I was behind that goal.
Many more wins followed. I was there for all of em.
So its such a shame its become a reserves cup.
Perhaps an idea would be give the winners a Europa qualifying place.

Agree gazzi remember those days well todays times its not important to clubs but it is to fans who want to go to wembley only fa cup and play off final to do it don't hold your breath though.

I was there too Gazzibaldi and the train broke down on the way back home meaning I was straight to work when we got back to Midland Station.
I think the shine began to wear off when it became the Milk, Rumbelows, Coca Cola etc and of course the "Promised Land " of the Premiership wasnt there which has rightly or wrongly changed the landscape of football in this country but like most things in life times do change .

Old fuddy duddies like me still think the old style 2 leg home and away format in the European Cup FOR CHAMPIONS ONLY was far better than this overlong format we have now but of course once again money rules and it will never happen but for those of us who remember those nights they will never be forgotten.

Still got the back page of a tabloid with the headline "FOREST SUNK BY JAP SUB " after a 3 all draw against Cologne. ( don't think that wouldbe printed nowadays )

Anyway i'm rambling now and off in my own world so see you and hear you all Friday

Gazz giving the winners of a cup not many want to win entry into a European trophy not many clubs wa t to be in, unless they get knocked out of the CL is not the answer.

I thought the winners already got a Europa League spot?
