Good post from Matt Mills, saying what an honour it is to captain NFFC.
How the players feel confident in the manager and style of play.

totaly agree 79 we need players with his attitude too get the club back too a realistic footing after the shambles of fawaz signings and loans. i know he"s not the best defender in the championship but who do the moaners expect to get. its only my opinion but we need to stop slagging individual players off and get behind em as a team.

What I hear on this site is people questioning how Hobbs and mancienne appear to be leas favoured than Mills when Mills, in the eyes of many shows weaknesses defensively in most games. Perhaps if they could make this enquiry direct to MW they would and wouldn't use this site to make the same enquiry through fellow supporters. Despite people's posts are interpreted I think most are simply questioning the inclusion of Mills when we have to other half decent championship centre halves. Perhaps we'd concede less perhaps we wouldn't. It would be a dull site if no one expressed an opinion or a point of view.

Not a question of asking anyone when you can SEE with your own eyes each game what a poor defender Mills is making the same mistakes week in week out?

You can see it,but he can't?
Just a thought

I think my problem with Mills and also Worrall is their choices when heading a ball clear. I am a massive Worrall fan but he needs to learn when under pressure head it away off the pitch and let the team set up to defend it. Too often Mills ( as he did against leeds) heads a weak ball out that drops to the opposition and it gets rammed back down our throats. Once a player commits to the ball he is then out off the game for a few seconds. This leaves a gap that an intelligent player will use. Midfielder picks up the loose ball and plays the intelligent player in on goal. Make sure you find a red shirt or have it off the pitch.

Mills did his job and headed clear, shame it can be said about the rest for that goal as no-one marked Roofe, too many ball watching and gave him a free header, hardly Mills fault that goal but people love to put him down on here.

Darikwa and Worrall asleep to ball coming back in and neither picked up Roofe.
Mills did his job and won the header from the cross swung in. Defend as a unit!

FF79

Please do not put words in my mouth about the manager!

Forest have conceded 8 league goals and 3 of these are a direct result of Mills failure to win or clear the ball and 2 are because he did not close down the runner with the ball he picked up but did not follow through with a block.

The team have to improve collectively at defending so it's not a question of keep putting him down but the stats do not lie and he has "form" from last season in poor decision making leading to goals.

Mancienne has also missed a couple of headers in the box for goals so it would seem Warbo thinks Mills is currently the lesser of two evils at centre back?

Overall most would agree Mancienne is the better all round footballeer so it will be interesting to see who gets the next run of games now they have had time out to work on their defensive shape?

But my point is if he heads it out then there is no ball back into our box!!

But your still saying he can't see it then?
Mills will play and be captain against Wednesday and Warburton picks the side

True. I don't dislike Mills. He just needs to stop those loose headers.I played cb for 15yrs and was always told put it out rather than lose it.it worries me because Worrall has real promise but he does it too. Needs a cb next to him to learn from. Hobbs if fit.

Warburton is the best manager we have had in ages. Maybe Mills just needs time to adjust to the new style of play.

Redfin, understand your point and agree but as a defender you will always look to head it clear rather than behind where you will face another dangerous ball in from a corner. Communication is key in a back 4 and a vocal keeper always helps.

Vocal keeper is good but head out for a throw. Get the team shape back and defend. Basics really. If you have time head to a team mate. If you can get it well clear do it. If under pressure and can't see a team mate head it out for a throw and regroup. Its not rocket science.

Getting bored with this Mills debate. You cannot polish a t**d but sometimes you just have to work with what you have got!

Hopefully we will continue to outscore the opposition to keep us at the right end of the table if he who knows best continues backing our number 5?

I think and hope that barring injuries we will have a different defensive line -up after 10 games to see us through the season as our game develops. However, as leopards never change their spots we are set for conceding 60 goals this season with Mills as a regular starter.

At least we will be entertained with goals. let's just hope we have more for than against with our roller coaster game plan?
