McLaughlin off to Southend. Maynard to sign contract. DF still unsure about left back position. But only just over a week to go until season begins so needs to sort LB fast.

Watched a couple of pre season games and imo I think Maynard would be a really good addition on a free transfer and those wages. He has looked quite sharp and just needs a goal. we perhaps just need to find out the system that provides a bit more support to the centre forward or play a bit further up the pitch.

Theres no major hang up at left back. Fox or Lichaj with Riera or Mancienne at right back is manageable. Its DM where the crushing urgency is.

Looks like Pinillos will sign to provide competion for Fox at LB. Agree that DM is now the priority (even with Mancienne doing ok there in pre-season). If Abdoun, Radi and McLaughin leave, we will have 4 spaces left - Pinillos, Maynard, Taylor and hopefully a DM to complete the squad.

Agree with both really. Going into a season with only two full backs and one of them being highly dubious, is just as dangerous. Our inability over however long is not being able to put a consistent back four out with people in their correct positions. Mancienne and riera certainly are not got enough right backs.
Agree with dmf though. Is pivotal to us having a good season getting one in

At least DF is not persevering with Antonio or McLaughlin as makeshift left backs. Don't think Mancienne good enough at DM and Vaughn doesn't seem to be either fit enough or good enough to satisfy DF. Let's hope if Pinillos is good enough we can get it
over the line.

Couldn't Tesche do a job as DM with Lansbury and Mancienne both able to play there as well if needed? Plus Cohen when he comes back?

Neither tesche, Lansbury or Mancienne are dmf. And relying on Cohen is a dangerous game! We need to stop putting people in make shift roles, particularly one as important as dmf. Pivotal to the way the team plays and success
