Leeds have made a formal approach for Hobbs.

Can't we try to sell them Wilson instead?

Our formal response to Leeds is Samba + £5m and we might think about it!

I think you can ask for that sort of deal only when you do not want to sell, then unlikely to get it.

If a reasonable deal is offered for a injury prone player you take it, especially when in an embargo and said player being on high wages.

Thank god you are nowhere near the club purse strings. You will have us with a depleted squad, relegated and still in embargo!

We have one season with the current squad who are as good as any in this league to get promoted. The embargo is a red herring as we will be out of it next year no matter where we end up as our best players /high wage earners will leave in any event if we do not go up.

My comment was tongue in cheek because no-one is going to offer us a better player than the ones we have. Cash without a better player is no good to us this year!

Hobbs is now fit and one of our few leaders so we need him and every other member of the current squad this year

You say Hobbs now fit, but how long for? You can not lead when you are not on the pitch, as you said yourself he probably go anyway if we do not go up, then he will be a year older and a year less of his contract left.

I personally feel we need to get rid of the proven injury prone players and either bring loan players to replace them, or give young players a chance.

If we do not go up so be it, even if we are out of the embargo spending will put us in a mess and back in it again in no time, we need to bring in young players next season and get our finances in order before we start spending again.

It will probably take 5-6 years before we can spend again to get our finances sorted, then with young players that have already got experience we would be fianchally sound, and have a good team.

That way you only need 1-2 additional players each season, instead of replacing most of the team as we normally do. When we sack manager the owner needs to make sure replacement mananagers buy into the clubs ethos of bringing in you players and keeping spending realistic.

Should read:

When a manager gets sacked, the owner needs to make sure replacement managers buy into the clubs ethos of bringing in young players, and keeping spending realistic.

The ethos being win or get sacked. Every owner bastes himself in bronzed managers to wink at the premiership sun. They rarely apply factor 50 to the youth team to prepare them.

The knock on effect is evident. Idiots are paying 10 million plus for championship players due to the swell of TV cash. Wait a year and we are worth some serious cash.

The ethos is to make money. Do not be mistaken in that

To some degree i agree, but not many managers get instant success, therefore the club has to be prepared for the loss of quite a few game while the right foundations are layed.

What better way to make money than to achieve success, especially when youth is given a chance.
