On friday olivera looked in effectivve as he was having to drop further and further back for the ball. Tonight i'd tell him not to drop further back than 20 yards. A) it commits a defender fully and B) its where he is more effective. All the great striker sniff around the box apart from messi and ronaldo and he's not them. Other players are paid to create chances for him and let him do his job.

Don't disagree, our struggles this season consistently occur when we sit to deep as a team.
As for Oliveira against wolves, he simply had a stinker of a game. Nothing came off for him and he tried too hard to do everything himself and ultimately ended up giving the ball away pretty much every time he had it
One of them though. Has been very good in recent weeks and hopefully just a one off game which we take a point and move on.

Yes and to do so we should have someone sitting in the hole linking up play, maybe Williams or even Mendes.

Bang on north tree, for tonight's game especially. When we sit a bit deeper away from home there is no point with the two up top as they just get isolated. A derby formation for me tonight. Williams behind Oliveira and finding that space between and orchestrating and play more counter attacking stuff.

It's harsh to say he had a stinker, Oliviera was superb in the opening 20mins, full of confidence and offered a threat. Then his game fell apart after Wolves scored, trying to do too much, making poor decisions and not being able to hold the ball up. I still think it was the right decision to hook O'Grady first though. Just a shame Ward and Williams weren't introduced earlier.

At the risk of duplicating what's been said above, Oliveira would benefit from a player in the hole to get the best out of him.

This 442 is a dream for Dougie, it has two deep seated midfielders for defensive solidity, two wingers who can get up and down, a workhorse and a striker. Its defensive orientated but gives the impression its attacking. Its seen off a couple of poor sides in Reading and Fulham, but the reality is it centres around clean sheets and industry at the expense of anything pleasing to the eye.

The real football and success will come when Oliveira is allowed to face goal and work with a bona fide supplier in Williams. The Derby Performance had some eye catchingly good combinations and will see off more than enough teams in what is a relatively poor league.

If only Dougie had the courage to play it.

Right let me get this straight. 4-2-3-1 is best. No wait a minute 4-4-2 is best. Which is it keyboard expert managers please tell me? This is why DF will never please everybody. Impossible job. What chance has he got when fans are split down the middle. The point is their is a lot of guess work and luck with these things and a lot also depends on what your opponents decide to do!

Looks like you've got your wish Cjay, but Blackstock not Oliviera.
