Let me start by saying again that I beleive AK will keep us up. However, when I saw an article quoting him saying that it is not important who the captain is I was very surprised to have any manager say that. We are desperate for a Psycho type captain on the field, desperate. A verbal kick ass leader who is not worried about upsetting those not performing is essential. He can and should be the managers task master on the field of play. A big factor why we are so dire at the moment is exactly because of the lack of someone to do this. Mancienne will never be a captain while he as an hole in his arse. Fact. It should be an absolute priority to make that appointment NOW. Some of the new boys are obvious conteders but Watson would be my choice for the armband for Burton and if he ruffles a few feathers, great. Do it AK its a must.

If karanka said that retford then its more than worrying. Stevie Wonder could see that the team is rudderless. Geduiora is a decent midfielder but not a captain. Bridcutt again works hard but injury prone and quiet. AK should have coirage for his convictions and put Watson in as skipper and and reshuffle back four. If he plays mancienne then that will be even more worrying. Worral msy need some time out too. Fox is worth a shout alongside the big spaniard.

He probably means a captain in football is not such an important roll as is it in other sports such as rugby or cricket which is actually true.
You could not however have a less suitable captain than Mancienne as he is probably the quietest of all Forest players.
I would give the armband to someone else even at the cost of alienating Mancienne as a few verbal rollickings on the pitch Wouldn't go a miss and may even improve his game.
Better still we get 11 captains on the pitch.

The captain needs to be a respected player who is consistently a good performer so he has credibility to issue instructions and rollockings on the pitch.
Problem is there are no players at the moment playing well and consistent so picking a captain is difficult.
That’s why Mancienne the current captain is struggling with the responsibility as he is having a poor run of form

Just a thought. Msybe mancienne has gone down hill since ZONAL MARKING was introduced. When you see our bsck four retreating in a line when attacked and then see the two central defenders static at set pieces then the mind boggles. Mancienne has been good in the past but looks so uncomfirtable now, is it down to the system?
He is no captain but maybe i have been harsh on my recent critiscm of him. To my mind good centre halves pose a threat both when attacking and defending set pieces. They know how to position themselves to attack the ball and not worry about being out manouvred od bullied. Hobbs was good at it, in both boxes, john terry the master.
Just my thoughts.
