This is my first post so shoot me down guys!
Don't get me wrong I would love to keep Britt but it's clear his head has been turned and he is on his way! I reckon 14m represents good value for him tbh, and if we play Brereton right up top (no9) with Clough in behind (no10) I genuinely think we will be OK, without even reinvesting, Add a midfield general ( i.e Lead bitter) and a winger and we could prosper! Mid table mediocrity and fiscal progress off field would signify success in my eyes.
We all want more, but baby steps ( as long as they're in the right direction) are enough for me right now.
YOU REDS!

I can't see how it's clear he's had his head turned, he's been out training in America with the lads whilst all the paper talk has happened in England. he's said or done nothing to suggest his head has been turned, its more his agent will try and turn his head.
I also don't think we should pin our hopes on a 18year old lad. don't get me wrong he looks like he's going to be mustard but what if he gets a coulple of injuries? we havnt improve s the team and losing britt in my eyes would be a disaster. leading up to games you look out for britts name and if it's on the team sheet you think yep we have at least one goal in us this game. without him I don't think I will have that confidence. andik sure the players will think that as well, all we need to do is create one chnace for him and it's a goal.
But I am with you it's baby steps I've m seen fans saying if we keep britt we can compete for top six. lol. unless we make some decent senior signings it will be another struggle.
Anyway welcome to the forum.

Don't disagree with anything you've said but regarding the Assombalonga transfer saga, I think the silence from Him is deafening, he could have put it to bed by just saying " I don't wanna leave" the fact he hasn't suggests he is open to a move IMO.
Re Brereton and pinning our hopes on him - you're right, he's a kid, but given our perilous financial situation and what I'm reading as a need to balance the books for the imminent future, I think we might have to place our faith in him.
15-20 goals is a lot to replace however and I'm wracking my brains trying to think who we could get in for reasonable money - thoughts anyone?

Lets get Nicolas Bendtner in and Payne him loads of money - oh no sorry the fuzzy days are over!

I trust McParland to unearth a little gem if he hasn't already done so in Cummings.

He currently gets paid approx 25k by a team who he had to save from relegation to league one last season. He's wanted by Boro who are willing to more than double his wages or Premier league teams which will put him on the big stage. Yeah I think he will definitely want to stay put. Anyone still believing he would want to stay with us in denial.

I'm with you Chesterfield. Centre mid dictator should be our no1 priority. Age and injuries mean we cannot rely on Vaughan and Cohen. Last season games were won and lost in there and Cash/ Grant are not the right type of players to cover. Maybe the other young lad with the long surname could be but I haven't seen him play.

I knew someone would say leadbetter.
On britt the silence from the club is defening too.
Don't put the blame on the lad.
Buisness in the transfer market should have been done earlier, both in and out.
All you get doing buisness this late is players coming in without a proper preseason and getting injured.

79. Are you saying they will not get a proper pre-season with their present club.

Has anyone thought the club May of told britt that if we get a bid of x amount we will have to sell? like warburton said every player has a price, maybe the club told boro we want x amount.

UTF. I think he would have known that without being told, just like the club last season would not have to have been told BA would leave had we been relegated.

exactly bright star warbo has put britt in the shop window so it's the club who has bought all this about and not Britt! got there in the end.

Utf and they made sure they sold season tickets first.
Just saying.

UTF. In a previous post i mentioned BA would not have gone to America had he asked to leave, or been sent home early from America. Like others have suggested BA could have said I'm going nowhere unless the club needs to sell me, which he has not.

Bright future.
The club could come out and say he's not for sale full stop., they haven't.
That's the other side of the argument.
It's the club that employ him and he hasn't asked to leave.
Club have bought all this on there selves.

FF79. You have a point, but again in another post, for which i got shot down, i said it disappointed me when MW said every player has a price that was effectively hawking to the highest bidder. We all know if offered enough money the club would sell, but that as good as said we are in listening to offers.
