From the Nottingham Forest official website:

Steve McClaren this afternoon spelt out his desire to 'see his challenge through at Nottingham Forest'.

The future of the Forest manager was the subject of intense media speculation today but he exclusively revealed to the club's website that he was in no way considering a move away from The City Ground.

He said: "I am surprised at the reaction that has come following some of the comments I have made.

"I can't deny that it has been a frustrating time and some things have not worked out the way I had hoped in the first three months but it is a building process and still very much early days.

"I would like to emphasise that my only concern is getting on with the job at Forest and achieving the goal of taking the club back into the Premier League.

"Contrary to reports, it has never been my intention to consider leaving. I'm certainly no quitter and I am as enthusiastic about the task as I was on the day I arrived in Nottingham in June.

"I am desperately keen to succeed at Forest and as far as I am concerned it is onwards and upwards with everyone pulling in the same direction in order to achieve our aims."

Forest Chief Executive Mark Arthur added: "As with all new relationships there are teething problems and some frustrations but they are ones that can be overcome.

"When we appointed Steve we knew we were getting a top class manager with a proven track record and we very much viewed his arrival as the start of a long-term project.

"Nothing has changed with that and more than ever we are looking to work with Steve and helping him achieve the ambitions that we all have for Nottingham Forest."

Great news. Lets get behind the manager and the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a shame the only time we make headlines is when we're in a mess.We are becoming a laughing stock.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is this a rumour?

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you think that people who come on this site do not check the OS at least 3 or 4 times a day, usually via news now? Granted, it was nice of you to pass on the info, but lets just stick to the rumours ay.

Agree0 Disagree0

Uhmmm ...wasn't Billy's appointment the start of a longterm project...so to was SMC's apparantly (quote MA)...come on then MA & NP share this long term plan with the fans...tell us we are in a development phase and when we might realistically expect to be in a position to challenge for promotion ...COMMUNICATE!! Keep the fans base informed with a realistic appraisal of where we are and where we expect to be in 1 yr, 2 yrs or 3 yrs etc!! Problem is at the moment there wouldn't be a fan anywhere that believes there is a plan at all!! {Ed003's Note - Great shout mate,communication with the fans would help a lot}

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said mate!

Agree0 Disagree0

You get behind the team ill wait and watch

Agree0 Disagree0

You are very niave, it is members of McClarens representative team that are briefing the media to put pressure on Doughty. Proof being another Daily Mail story today.

Now there's a shock. No quotes coming out of Nottingham Forest.Earn your money Marthur and tell the fans what the f--k is going on.As we pay his wages it is about time he earned some of it and did his job.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

We need some balls and guts installed at the Club and that is right through the management.Bring a lower league manager in who wants to make a name for himself and give our great club a bloody good shake up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Marther and dp out thats all it needs

I heard a few years ago that Doughty y had bought land close to the City ground that would be used for building luxury houses and flats. He is a Forest fan but also a business man, money is what always wins business mens hearts. I was also told that Doughty has tried to buy the City ground from the council and this could possibly happen in the future. Does anybody know if this is true or just rumour.
Can anybody tell me anything about why Marthur as got such an high profile job at Forest when he failed so miserably at Notts County Cricket Club. I stopped watching them when that bungling clown was employed there and have done the same at Forest (not a season ticket holder, but still go to games). Is anybody in support of Marthur and Pleat (Mr monotone or am I alone in my frustration at this pair.

Believable8 Unbelievable5

You are certainly not alone my friend ND as held us back for many seasons and as for Marthur and his rants last season about whittingham coming to forest probably cos us promotion

Agree0 Disagree0

I wonder whether NCCC would have been without a wicketkeeper for 3 years?

Agree0 Disagree0

I was at the 'Evening with Crossley' last night at the Approach where it was said that Pleat was only a 'friend' of Doughty and NOT on the payroll.

Agree0 Disagree0

Only thing ND has held is our heads above water!

pleat is the main problem

Billy Davies will be approached to return when Mclaren quits. Billy was still under contract at Forest and the pay off was to the end of this season.

Fans will be encouraged by this although Billy would only return if Pleat and Arthur were removed from the AP. Even if the transfer budget was £500,000, any manager in their
defence would like control of who they buy and sell

Believable1 Unbelievable19

This is utter nonsense. The club would not want him, and he wouldn't want to come back.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Pleat and Marthur left...why would Smc leave?

Agree0 Disagree0

Billy Davis best manager forest have had for years and our joke of a board sack him.
They couldnt run a bath without stuffing it up.

Steve McClaren will leave Forest by the end of the day and Nick Marshall will be given the job until the end of the season.

Believable6 Unbelievable16

I did wonder WTF was Nick Marshall, but I see he is the NFFC Academy Director, for once a rumour which makes some sense on here, should McClaren go of course

McClaren has told the board to get him at least 3 loan signinings before Monday otherwise he's off. Who can blame him we are a shambles, we have a top class coach and we are treating him like crap. If ND and Marthur are serious about promotion but need to cut the wage bill then get rid of Pleat and the accquisitions panel, on the day we were hoping to land some players Pleat was on radio 5, they are a joke. If SMc leaves who the hell is going to take the job on, certainly no top manager. I am not giving my club anymore of my money until they sort this s**t out. Dreading playing Southampton and the sheep now

Believable12 Unbelievable6

Rubbish! Loan window is not open until 8th September. Stop spreading malicious tripe!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

He'll av a job mate, loan window doesn't open till next Thursday.

Sean o Driscoll will be the next manager at Forest. You read it here first.

Believable4 Unbelievable12

Wouldn't mind that TBF.

Agree0 Disagree0

It does not matter who the next manager is the result will be the same ,while ever doughty owns the club its an imposible situation

Agree0 Disagree0

Who the f.ck is Sean o Driscoll? (no disrespect) This club and its supporters deserve a high profile tried and tested premiership quality manager who the Management will support! I think we have the Manager already! just lacking the rest. Felt sorry for Billy and do a bit for SMC.

From: INSIDE RED

Shame on all you doubters who didnt belive my information at 530 last night. I am not called INSIDE RED for nothing. You are all waking up today to hear that Steve Maclaren is now considering his future.

Steve MaClaren has gone on holiday with his family to consider his future. That is it my friends he has left the club.

Nigel Doughty is holding an emergency meeting today with MA and DP to discuss the way forward after yet another disaster in PR relations.

Protests outside the club will begin this weekend and at the next home game.

Nigel Doughty is now considering his own options
options and it is thought there are interested parties considering a takeover of the club. Watch this space.

If only signings had been made over the past three seasons who knows where the club would be now

Believable7 Unbelievable8

A very good guess, but one that we all could see coming and anyone could have put it up, with the tag 'insidercityground', hoping it would come true in the morning.

I am friends with Reid and his other helf Chantelle and he did not know anything about it, so why would you have??

Agree0 Disagree0

@INSIDE RED,, you cant even spell his name!

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets all live in hope and pray some one takes over the club

Agree0 Disagree0

If you are an insider, you would have the clubs best interest at heart and refuse to make these postings

Agree0 Disagree0

I was giving an example that I, or anyone, could guess that was going to happen and could post a name such as inside red, or even insidercityground.
Obviously not intelligent enough to read my post, digest and realise what I meant. Oh well keep trying and I'm sure you'll get there one day.
Ps don't you think you would have been better off actually helping the discussion with a thoughtful comment, rather than picking on others?

Agree0 Disagree0

So Inside Red, I see you were right and SMc has left... Oh wait a minute, no he hasn't... Idiot!!
