I think we all understand the lure of the Premier League for footballers, so I can't blame them for wanting to go and ply their trade in the best league in the world. I'd be much more gutted to lose the likes of Reid, Hobbs or Cohen. The things I can't get my head around are the money, the timing and the fact that's its Newcastle. The money: £7m for one of them alone is barely acceptable in my opinion, I understand clauses may eventually raise the price, but £7m as a base price is way off, no matter how it's reinvested. The timing: It's the start of a big season for Forest and Fawaz and Stuart are getting rid of two players a few days before the season starts and who were vital to us last season. Although Lascelles may be less important because of returning players and new incomings. The fact it's Newcastle: When you talk about "great teams" in the Premier League, Newcastle aren't the first I would think of. In fact, they are are probably one of the last. If they are trying to manufacture the move, why wouldn't they of done that when the "great teams" came calling, Lascelles to Arsenal and Darlow to Spurs spring to mind. Saying all of this, I wish the lads well. They both seem like proper pros and I'm hoping when I'm watching the 2022 World Cup, I can point to them both and mutter the phrases, "they were at Forest once" and also "I hope we win the Premier League again next season".

What happened to the trialist, Amadou Haidara? Wasn't he a CB with a decent showing in the pre-season?

A very good article on another website suggests that SP is being very clever here. It suggests that by selling these 2 he will attract even more good youngsters to the club as they see that Forest are able to attract top clubs for youngsters who perform well with the club and can provide a stepping stone for future stars. Fans have to realise that until we/if we establish ourselves in top half of premier league this is what will happen. Really can't understand all the ridiculous statements about Saturday and how fans feel there is a black cloud over the club. Get your heads out your backsides and enjoy the start of a new era.

Well said nick 26. Tbh both positions are very well covered. Personally I would not have them on Loan, as I think it takes places and opportunities away from our up and coming, however I'm not boss. IMO if we have the opportunity to bring butland in then great, loan with a view perm great! That's puts the 7m our way (excluding loan fees) to strengthen. But we must do that STRENGTHEN. Pace and power upfront. May be wickham or adomha or both. COYR, the future is still bright the future is RED.

We’re getting off lightly if you think about what's happened to Southampton. And they finished in the top half last year…
