ED I feel there are fans on this site voting with their heart rather than their brain for Stuart Pearce. An inspirational player cannot rely on this to run a team. It is not for me to say but it takes many years to produce a good manager. MoN with wycombe wanderers, NC with Buton Albion. Pearce needs to learn his craft in a lower league and prove his ability. The England under 21s were the cream of english football may be managing their egos ws tricky but they had proven skills. A good manager makes an average team great Sean Dyche is an example with Burnley. Fawaz wants promotion this season or next a proven coach such as Clarke will do it and unrpoven coach relying on inspiration alone will fail. I have a feeling Fawaz will want the fans to think well of him so what could be better than appointing their hero. Believe me ther is very little space between hero and villain. Foerst must have stability at all cost or they will fall away. As I have said previously this appoitment is a crucial one.

{Ed034's Note - I think a lot of fans are being very disrespectful towards Pearce and cannot get the old image of him being the warrior out in the field, that would run through walls for his team.
Ive heard him talk about football and he talks with great knowledge and understanding. He has been involved with the England set up for years and has managed the u21s for a long time. Before that he has managed club sides, so he knows what's involved.
I think a lot of fans can't get the old Pearce out of their heads and need to realise he had a footballing brain.
He wouldn't have been with the u21s for so long if he didn't have tactical knowledge or couldn't coach.
He has made great contacts, he has a knowledge of footballers not only on this country, but also abroad.
He is well respected and has made friends inside clubs through his England days, both as a player and a manager.
For me the only reason fans can't see him as a manager is because they can't get psycho the player out of their thinking of him.
The way some fans are slagging him off and talking about him, it's like those 12 years we he have everything doesn't matter.
Let's all give him the redirect he deserves not only as the inspiration he was as a player, but also for the stuff he's done after with the England set up

But what is his record as a manager actually like? What are the facts?

{Ed034's Note - played 166, won 65, drew 44, lost 57

Even England's heirache thought southgate was a better option than pearce. Appears another heart based decision by fawaz to me if it happens. If it does welcome back psycho you will have my full support.

{Ed034's Note - Pearce was not happy about the way he was treated when going into championships and let then know. He is also seeing someone who works at the fa, which they were not impressed with.

His record as a league manager is average at best: neatly got man city relegated and had a worse than useless scoring record with them.

Great player not a manage for me.

{Ed034's Note - your copy and paste came out as mumbo jumbo.

Ed you are so on the money here. I hate it when people refer to proven track record etc. Mark hughes had plenty track record and experience. No bodywanted him at stoke but look what he has done when a chairman shows a little faith. The pearce that people remember ss a player has used his balls of steel to go to the precipice taken the time to learn but has the passion and knows how to use it. Ppl get real any apppintment is a risk but we have one of our own in pearce

An angry rutland red

Just seen this on bird site, don't know how much you can read into it but interesting. Pearce managed 166 games won 39. 16%, Zola 155 games won 36. 13%, Clarke 60 games won 31. 67%, mackay 229 games 38. 86%

6.) 31 Mar 2014
Glad I didn't go to your school!

Separately, he needs a CEO above him. Absolutely key

{Ed034's Note - want to elaborate on the school thing?

7.) 31 Mar 2014
Clearly Pearce is as good as anyone else the figures prove it. The buzz he'll create and the passion he'll bestow is what we need

8.) 31 Mar 2014
His win percentage is better than the majority of other mentioned names.

Dont know about the bird site, more like the cuckoo site with those figures! I posted clarkes figures yesterday. Played 59 won 19 win ratio 32%.
