Forest have apparently bid 3m for Adomah.
But won't go any higher.
Would agree we need a pacey winger but who else out there is available. I've always liked routledge
Bags of pace but would he drop down.
But we also need forward with pace.
Fryatt lars not quick.
Who do we think we should go for bearing in mind
We've got sponcership money.

{Ed034's Note - we don't know how much this money is and being as we are losing around £10m a season more than we should be, I wouldn't think we'll all of a sudden startt breaking transfer fees every time we sign someone now

How can we be losing £10 million a year? If we were we would of been picked up by financial fair play

{Ed034's Note - I take it you do not believe me. The clubs accounts are there for all to see. When we released them, we were £10m over. Bolton were around £50m over. Qpr and Leicester were also over.
Bit of research is needed

2.) 03 Aug 2014
I've always said adomah would be a cracking signing. Pacy and boro's top scorer last season.
However it is also important we don't pay over the odds for players too. As a forest fan 3 million is more than enough. But as a boro fan I'm sure they would say that 3 million is way short of their valuation as one of their better players and top goal scorer

There's been plenty of chat about Bamford and Mceaghran at Chelsea as potential loans and others who suggest they are already at Boro/Vitesse et al. Well I watched both at Crawley yesterday for Chelsea U21. Mceaghran was tidy but quiet and played dm for 60 minutes. Bamford went the whole game up front and was the class act. Didn't score but hit post from 30 yards. Personally not sure we will get either, Chelsea fans felt Lewis Baker (who us with 1st team currently) would be best bet.

Agree ed but although we've made some fantastic signing a lot on freebies.
And we've got 12 players off our wage bill. Which is brill we've added 7. We need to get shut of 5 more from above.
3 more quality signing will give us I think strongest squad in championship.
But the 3 teams that came down still look strong and other teams are going for it. I think Pearce will be backed with upto 10m for what else he needs. But who would you go for with that in mind.

{Ed034's Note - I would agree with that figure, if the right players become available, but I don't think we need to spend that.
I would be looking at Kane on loan if we cannot sign him permanently, mackay-smith (perm) or ibe (loan) and maybe nick Powell on loan.
I would also give leigertwood a short term contract and play Reid with Vaughan in the holding/play maker roles

5.) 03 Aug 2014
Dont know why we feel this need to have fast strikers fast does not mean good.Teddy Sheringham wasnt fast nor was Gary Lineker Rickie Lambert is'nt either its all about how they read the play and getting into the right positions to be most affective when they receive the ball. Nathan Tyson was fast but that didn't make him a great striker.

6.) 03 Aug 2014
Most prolific prem striker Alan Shearer not exactly a whippet

7.) 03 Aug 2014
I've not seen any sponser on the shirt? The ground hasn't changed it's name.

We should aim to be tight with whatever money we do have. This league has a lot of games, we need a strong spine to the squad (which we've got). Burnley went up last year, Derby nearly did - both spent very little in comparison to us.

I agree that we do need 3 maybe 4 more but don't think this requires millions being spent. Ed mentioned some very good loan players: young, hungry to prove themselves in their profession. That's the way to go.

If we get in the prem, then we spend millions on 4 or 5 real quality players.

8.) 03 Aug 2014
Regarding ffp
We've got rid of 12 players some were on stupid money some were on less we've got to get shut of bout 4 more Collins abdoun
Halford? Harding. That makes 16 players off wage bill bout 250k a week we've currently added 7 new player and we're expecting 3 more. So hopefully when we're done wheelin n dealing we should still be better off with wage bill. So should help with ffp.
Which shouldn't worry us with new sponcership.
Think this is our season but we need to take
A gamble. Get the 3 quality player in and walk this league. We've been lucky to keep hold of Darlow lescelles Lansbury. But if we don't go up this season they will be gone.

{Ed034's Note - fryatt, fox, Vaughan, mancienne and Burke are all on very good money.
We are also looking to bring in 3/4 more players. The wage bill won't be much different

100% agree with the above posters regarding Shearer and others not needing pace but it would be good to have the option of bringing a fast skilful striker on in games to put the opposition on the back foot. I just hope we start to kill games off under SP.
Really looking forward to Saturday to see how the new team looks

10.) 03 Aug 2014
Gazza2969 wrong about Gary Lineker - he was very quick.

11.) 03 Aug 2014
Looking forward to the start of the season, saw that Blackpool played with 7-8 trialists yesterday, so a big question what they are going to bring on against us, but no matter what, we have to win that first game!!

Is Vaughan injuried, didn't play yesterday?

I would go for Wickham, Wood or Murray!

12.) 03 Aug 2014
Ed' is spot on, we have been losing 250 grand a week, and have been doing so for some time. just been on SSN. a 3 million bid for Adomah has been turned down. NFFC will not be going back in for the player. and will look elsewhere. losing money and yet going bigtime for players. How Fawaz gets abuse is beyond me.

13.) 03 Aug 2014
Whether loaned or purchased or a combination SP realises we need more quality. He will be looking at a no. 9, possibly a winger and a midfielder I suspect. I think there are premier league youngsters fill a midfield position but we will probably have to spend a reasonable fee on a striker. It seems from rumours that we have been scouting abroad. Might be a way of getting better value as prices in England are inflated.
Adomah would have been good but I think £3M is as high as we will go. Boro don't need to sell as they are backed by Gibson's money. I like the fact the club put in a bid and just move on if the bid is accepted.

14.) 03 Aug 2014
Wickham, woods and Murray all very good strikers but none of them have much pace either. They are all too similar to lars I think. Not saying I would turn any of them 3 away, but I think people's argument on pace is for another option rather then another striker.

Imagine lars and one of wickham, woods or Murray up front? Defenders would get battered!

I think the big picture here is any club wanting success know they need to put the cash in. If we start producing on the pitch and hit the big time it attracts more fans (money) to balance the books. We are very lucky to be part of a team that is looking at the big picture rather than penny pinching.

{Ed034's Note - you mean just like it worked for Portsmouth??

16.) 03 Aug 2014
Do we know when the sponsorship deal will be announced?

{Ed034's Note - you would expect it to be before Saturdays game

17.) 03 Aug 2014
Every football club pays over the odds for players! Ozil at arsenal is worth 43mill? no way is he!
It's just football
FTID

{Ed034's Note - clubs that can afford to do.

18.) 03 Aug 2014
Can't compare lambert with Gary Lineker! come-on!

19.) 03 Aug 2014
03 Aug 2014 15:13:10
We already have Burke. Seem to remember he destroyed us once at the CG.

20.) 03 Aug 2014
We have hardly spent this summer, if we are serious about promotion we need to spend on a Striker, and a wideman, we are only a few players away from a real contender, forget the play offs let's win this leauge, we have been here long enough!

{Ed034's Note - do you think burnley were serious about promotion?? What about the players that have signed? Do you think they are doing it for fun or that they havnt had a handsome signing on fee? Come on, nobody can deny the club are not serious about promotion, especially after the last couple if seasons and the players we have signed

21.) 03 Aug 2014
FOREST- KEY, you are spot on mate!

22.) 03 Aug 2014
Youre forgetting about the pace of Mackie, Patterson and Burke. If Lars can hold up the ball, with the pace of these 3 following in then no problem.

23.) 03 Aug 2014
Yes we have signed decent players Ed, but there must be money in the pot for a quality Striker, you saying we ok up front? There will be injuries, suspensions, we need pace up front, we know this from last season do we not? Think we ok at the back, and Midfield looks solid, but we need a wide man, and a striker! And we are going to have to spend a few quid to get the right players in.

{Ed034's Note - did I say that I thought the squad was complete or that we do not have money to spend??? Read back.
My point is you said '....if we are serious about promotion....'. How can you say the club isn't with the amount of money been spent since taken over?? With the quality of players we have signed?? Even if we do not spend money in transfer and we get a couple of loans, you can't say the club are not and have not been serious.
Money is being spent on signing in fees (free agents can and do demand big signing on fees) and on wages.
For me we need a forward and central mid as a minimum and ideally another winger too, but saying if we do not sign these we are not serious, if not fair on the club or owner

24.) 03 Aug 2014
Mackie ain't THAT fast tbh. But I think it matters on tactics I remember bombarding and hammering defenders with Grant Holt or Gareth Taylor then unleashing Tyson or Findley when defence can barely move so hulking forward might work lot of Burke's good stuff on back of Marcus Bent or Zigic tiring you out over the years
