Michail Antonio is apperently having a medical today. Fee rumoured to be 1.5m-2m

Antonio has arrived for his medical. Apparently Wednesday are concerned he may fail it as has had a number of different injuries over the past 18 months and is still not fully fit despite a full pre season.

Anything over 750k is a poor deal, based on what I have seen of him.

Another sick note.

4.) 06 Aug 2014
He's not worth that sort of money, and if sheff wed are worried about his fitness then so should we. Thanks but no thanks.

{Ed034's Note - you are going by a rumour that this is the case.

Owls fan in peace. If you get your man, IMO will be a good addition. Does tend to drift in and out of games but still young enough to learn. On loan with us he was immense, then got a contract and seemed to be satisfied and was not the same. Think you will need players around him to be vocal and DO NOT rely on him to be consistant. Just my opinion guys, good luck for the new season, hope we are both challenging for the promised land soon.

{Ed034's Note - an owls fan who works for me thinks your previous manager was a bog influence last season on his drop of form. Jones played hoofball tactics, straight down the middle and this was not helping any wide players in your side

I'm happy for Mackie to be replaced by Antonio as he is a direct out and out winger but not at the price OP is suggesting. Tricky1972 has it bang on, anything under £750k would be a good figure but have seen a price as low as £400k mooted about.

Still not the stellar signing we are all hoping for, SP must have this reserved for the striker.

Ed, I have a few mates who are Wendy fans and they are saying he has had a fantastic pre season and are gutted he is leaving.

I remember a few games of Sheffield Wendies that I have watched and he gave defenders a torrid time with his pace and directness I think I he'll be a good signing for us. The team is taking shape really well interesting to see who this striker is. Cannot wait for Saturday.

{Ed034's Note - me neither mate. goosebumps are already out

So we need to sell to 'balance the books'? And we get rid of Mackie for less than what we bring Antonio in for? I hope these reported figures are wrong.

I know wages will come into play too but the difference between Mackie's wage and Antonio's wage won't make up for the deficit.

I'm trying to stay open-minded and positive but very little of this whole situation makes sense. Did we need to 'balance the books' last season when we grossly over-paid for Abdoun and Djebbour or is 'balancing the books' a new phrase Fawaz has learnt in the last week or two?

{Ed034's Note - we need to balance the books to be able to ring in the players pearce wants.

NE Red we are not even close to signing a Striker, and it will not be a steller one when and if we do! 4-5-1 Sat! no pressure on Fyatt then, who by accounts is not full fit!

10.) 06 Aug 2014
How do you know we're not close to signing a striker Marko99? seems all of your last posts have all been negative.

The bid SP is working on and putting in shortly could well be this Stellar Striker only SP and backroom staff probably know who he is.

Most likely be 4-2-3-1 Saturday since played this nearly all pre-season. Lars may play upfront.

NFF Dave how can anyone really be positive about this weeks Farce? If we have to sell our best young talent under the nose of the Manager, obviously no money, and this FFP, will mean there will not be hardly any coming in! why was this all sorted earlier, not a few days before the season kicks off?

12.) 06 Aug 2014
I work with a wednesday fan & he really rates antonio & he knows his football, as far as players leaving the club that's just how it goes seen a lot better players leave in the past like des walker & stan collymore now they were very hard to replace I just think fawaz is a very good bussines man

13.) 06 Aug 2014
Marko that's football, why think 31st August is busiest day for transfers? So we buy 9 new players as we have no money? SP expects at least 2 possibly 4 new players to come in. SP has only been with club seeing what he has and whether they fit into club for a month, yes not ideal to chop and change close to start of season and by your logic should not sign anyone after season starts or in January. Yes not ideal that players went against SP wishes but that's football now a days look at Southampton. We have a year to replace Darlow & Lascelles. We've always had to see young talent (Jenas, Dawson) to balance books as don't have 40,000 fans every week.
