Well Eric has come out and said he wants a new contract.
He loves it here and is settled in Kirkby and his wife has her shop in Annesley.
He goes on to say every team has competition for places.
Then adds he doesn't know if he'll score every week,but will keep doing his thing and hopefully we'll get the wins.
Time to sit down with him mcparland.

Just playing devils advocate here, and I appreciate this won't go down well with some. My assessment of Eric would be he's a decent Championship full back, but I'm not sure he's worthy of the pedestal some of you have put him on. My main concern with this current form is it comes at a time when his contract is up. Haven't we seen this scenario play out many times before.

Murdoch lichaj got player of the year last season and has been one of the most consistent players pver the last few years.he also puts 100% in every game and runs his socks of regardless of how long he’s got left on his contract.so to say we’ve seen this many times before doesn’t make sense.

One of the biggest problems we have is being too sentimental over certain players. Eric is just an average player at best, he's certainly no world beater. I can recall reading many negative posts about his play on this site not that long ago. He's ok at this level, and can do a job, but I don't agree with this indispensable tag he suddenly has.

nobody said he was a world beater but there isn’t many better in this league than him so why would you get rid of one of the best right backs in the league and end up with darikwa as the number 1 right back?or the alternative is warbo will by tavinier (spelling) and those two will battle it out in stead.i know which way I would go.

Your right Murdoch. I also remember the days on here when Lichaj used to get hammered on here by some.
Don't get me wrong he has been brilliant last 2 games and definitely should be ahead of Darikwa whose defending at times this season has been shambolic.
Darikwa's poor defensive work also had a big impact on the performances of Joe Worrall. I would feel much more confident having Worrall back in the team with Lichaj alongside him.
