A little bird tells me that nottingham forest have turned their attentions to aberdeen manager derek mcinnes as a possibility to become our new manager, sir alex ferguson has given mcinnes a glowing reference and says that mcinnes is a young him, what a compliment that is as fergie was the greatest british manager of all time, my source tells me that forest will need to move quickly to secure mcinnes as west brom one of mcinnes's former clubs he played for are very keen to make him their new manager possibly before the end of the season, your thoughts guys

{Ed034's Note - ferguson last recommendation was Moyes, so I think we'll pass

1.) 28 Mar 2014
Greatest british manager ferguson, that is debatable.

2.) 28 Mar 2014
No thanks was sacked from bristol city after a bad run and fergie can keep his recommendations to himself

3.) 28 Mar 2014
Bt myes did a great job at everton. and fergie left him a poor team and before u say they won the league last year it was a poor prem and utd haven't been that great last 2-3 years just had people up front who could score goas midfield and back fourplayed average

{Ed034's Note - they didn't just win the league, they ran away with it. Moyes either didn't think anything needed adding or he didn't have the balks to change things, but he's made a compete mess of it.
His tactics doesn't suite his players and cannot motivate players.
You can see the job Martinez is doing to show you what've version could have been. Don't get me wrong he did well for Everton, but he could have done better and what he's doing at Man U, it's taken something special to make them look so average

Thank you above, you have made the point all Forest fans are thinking as Mr Clough was and will always be the best manager of all time. I will be there to support our team week in and week out and will always be red. I am sure the club will appoint the right person soon.

5.) 28 Mar 2014
Been a revelation in Scotland but a disaster in England. Don't know how significant that is, but I would like to think we could set the bar a bit higher than this.

6.) 28 Mar 2014
Yeah Moyes was great at Everton wasn't he? Martinez is making him look average.

7.) 28 Mar 2014
28 Mar 2014 22:32:38
Moyes said around 11 years ago that he would make Everton a better team than Man U. Mission accomplished

8.) 28 Mar 2014
Just remember clough was nothing without taylor it makes me mad when everyone talks about clough and no mention of taylor

9.) 28 Mar 2014
Moyes is the best thing to happen to Manchester United for years-I don't know how long it took before Fergie was knighted but moyes should be knighted straight away for services to football fans all over the country! :-) in my eyes a true Manchester United leg end

10.) 28 Mar 2014
Original poster here, now I'm forest through & through and although I love brian clough and rate him very highly as a manager sir alex ferguson is a better manager and that's a fact, look at their records that says it all, sometimes you just have to be honest and I'll say it again, sir alex ferguson is without a shadow of a doubt the greatest british manager of all time

11.) 28 Mar 2014
All potential managers managers are just smoke screens. Unfortunately Steve Kean is on Fawaz short list for some random bizarre reason until end of season! I know this because Fawaz has properties he let's around Nottingham area and my father-in-law renovates properties of which he has and his representative told him this information. Make what you believe of it yourselves.

12.) 28 Mar 2014
West brom can have him thanks but no thanks!

13.) 28 Mar 2014
Left moyes with a poor team? Don't talk wet. That comment is more ridiculous than anything even I've ever posted.

14.) 28 Mar 2014
So McInnes was the next great Scottish Manager to come to England and got a gig at Bristol City who were on their way to the Premiership when he pitched up and took them the other way before being replaced by SOD?
Just what we need another overrated Scottish Manager. The Ferguson era of hard school managers from the frozen north is well and truly over.
Scotland used to export its talent globally to earn its reputation and wealth. Souness and Lambert are the only ones to have an overseas visa stamp in their passports!

15.) 28 Mar 2014
Billy davies loyal. Get real, Matt busby, paisley both better managers than ferguson. Enough said on this matter.

16.) 29 Mar 2014
Derek Mc. who? we have to HAVE a top top manager this time, end of.

17.) 29 Mar 2014
29 Mar 2014 00:11:13
He just signed a contract extension before they won the league cup so I highly doubt this.

18.) 29 Mar 2014
Cloughy was a great manager but Ferguson debatable best manger titles, cups and honours speak for themselves and I despise man utd!

19.) 29 Mar 2014
I love the way you slag of moyles ed. And earlier this week you said big Sam was a great manager lol. I do hope forest don't take your advice in a new manager

{Ed034's Note - i said I'd happily take big Sam. Moyes is doing an awful job at Man U, nobody can say any different. I have never compared the two. Big SAMs football wouldbt suite Man U and would no doubt do an awful job for them, but we are not Man U and at our level and lower prem, he does a decent job. Moyes is not a top four manager, but no doubt Moyes would do well for us and a mid table prem side (which is exactly whst he has turned Man U in to)

20.) 29 Mar 2014
Didn't fergie recommend mccleish as well. Although I'll give him credit at least he managed a draw away at the sheep

21.) 29 Mar 2014
Did fergie not also recommend mcleish?

22.) 29 Mar 2014
I think moyes could of had Man U in top 4 had he not go rid of back room staff. Everton were always Europa league and with the staff he bought in, that's all utd will achieve. I agree that sir Alex is the best British manager ever. Cloughie could of been had he had the same resources.

23.) 29 Mar 2014
The little birdie knows squat then. mcinnes is dreadful. bombed at brisstle city big time. managing in the Scots prem is like managing in league 1 or below in England. always makes me laugh that the winners get a champions league spot. I mean the standard is so low.

{Ed034's Note - Celtic havnt done bad recently

24.) 29 Mar 2014
Fergusons team is the reason Man U are really struggling this season. To0 many average players, and anyway who really cares what his recommendations are.

{Ed034's Note - he still manage to walk the league with them though lol

Papers reporting that Steve Clarke favourite to take over at Nottingham Forest
The Championship club could approach West Bromwich Albion, whom Clarke is on gardening leave from, to begin talks with their former manager after Saturday's match with Ipswich

26.) 29 Mar 2014
Stevie clarke another good scottish manager, where would english football be without all the good Scottish managers over the years, so to the poster who had ago at scottish football have a wee delve into that my good friend!

27.) 29 Mar 2014
Ferguson was very good definitely, but he also had the biggest chegue book up until abramovich at Chelsea and now man city. Again he had excellent academy players Becks, scholes etc but he usually spent highly compared to the others. Utd were the original big spenders imo. Brian Clough and Taylor brought a mid 2nd division team to promotion and directly to win the league and European cup. They made extraordinary players out of ordinary players time and again and did it all in an unmatched style and charisma both on and off the pitch. My point is if a manager has buckets of money, Fergusons records "may" be matched but not to have it and match Clough/Taylor achievements is imo flatly impossible.
Ro red

{Ed034's Note - was clough not the one who has the first £1m spend next to his name??

28.) 29 Mar 2014
Was he the first million pound player? My grandad told me he cost 999, 999. 99

29.) 29 Mar 2014
Was waiting for that to be thrown up. I'm talking of the teams as a whole in fairness ed. Every professional club that has success can be accused of "buying" the title. But Ferguson had way more spending power than the rest. I'm sticking to my guns and gladly will accept being biased. Clough may not have been the best manager but he is definitely in my top one. Lol. Here's to a good result today ed.
Ro red

{Ed034's Note - at least he still managed to bring players through and when the Chelsea and man city's started to spend silly, he still managed to win titles.
I can't stand the bloke but you've got to take your hat off to him

30.) 29 Mar 2014
I agree with ya ed completely but Brian Clough was and still is my footballing hero. And sir Alex with all his achievements will never come close to him for me. I am in a definite minority here in Ireland being a forest supporter but when people hear who I support they can see why given the history but they always refer to the great man Brian Clough with a smile. Gone all nostalgic now ed sorry mate.
Ro red.

{Ed034's Note - after the last week on here, you really do not need to say sorry for that

31.) 29 Mar 2014
I honestly don't care what anyone else thinks because I've got my own opinion and in my unbiased, honest opinion billy davies is a very good manager/coach & forest will be lucky to get anyone close to the ability of wee davies, his thorough attention to detail coaching ability is immense in my opinion, he would have got us into the play-offs, he was just going through a sticky spell which every good manager goes through, some owners are too quick to jump & too impatient, I & forest will miss davies badly, mark my words, there's an old saying in life ie. you don't miss the water until the well runs dry!

32.) 29 Mar 2014
Natalie Jackson its nice that your so loyal to Billy but he's definitely gone, move on :-) the next manager might be a younger model more your age lol
