Another interesting little stat from yesterday for all those who think we have a strong squad ! Forest went to a League One team, played a "strong" team and got beat one nil. Bournemouth went to a championship side, made no less than nine changes and still won 5-1. Argue that out amongst yourselves !!!

Norwich full of relegated prem stars lost to Preston lol.
Theirs always upsets in 3rd round pal

{Ed001's Note - to be fair Norwich have been poor and the fans were not confident as they want their manager out. It wasn't really a big shock.}

Ed, you can swap Norwuch with Forest and say same statement

Wilderbeast, your theory that we don't have a strong squad and so it's all down to the players breaks down on so many points. Here are a couple, at the start of the season nearly every fan and pundit agreed we had one of the strongest squads in the division. Here is another, 5 of the starting line up yesterday were Pearce signings, so who's fault is that?

Fred, once again you misunderstand me. Just because we all thought we had a good squad at the beginning of the season doesn't mean we actually did have a good squad. It was only a very biased opinion of optimistic and expectant Forest fans. I also never said it wasn't SP's fault. He alone brought players in and let others go out so yes I agree it's his fault. If you cast your mind back I was the first poster to question the balance of the squad when I wrote about the pit falls of playing Reid in the middle of a four man midfield. I suggested this after only one league game and was slaughtered for it by other posters so at least I can claim I've been consistent with my views regarding the quality of the team from day one when others were swept away with the euphoria of the return of the messiah !

Hmmm, well if what is thought of as a good squad isn't actually a good squad then how do you assemble a good squad? Your right, i must misunderstand you!

Every manager in the league starts the season thinking they have a good squad. A so called good squad only actually becomes a good squad by proving its worth on the pitch.

Well both Charlton and ourselves started the season very well but are now both languishing in mid table so did we both have good squads but now do not? Or is it too early to tell as almost half the season remains for them to prove their worth?

I can't comment on Charlton because I don't know enough about them. In my opinion Forest began the season well due to the energy provided by new players resulting in good individual cameo performances winning us games and of course the euphoria and buzz around the place with the return of SP. Certain players who we thought were top draw have now been "found out" and I think our league position is currently about right. This could change if SP can recruit the right type of player in the next few weeks.
