We can't possibly let Lansbury go.
At moment we have only got vaughen
Lansbury and Manchienne who isn't a midfielder who are fit.
Tesche out at least 3 months
Osborne almost ready.
So we are desperately short on central midfielders. That's why we were hoping to get Gardner back. And he's at least a month away. Reid Cohen can't rely on these 2.
So selling our best midfielder would be insane we'd be in for a relegation scrap.
Wolves had a good squad on paper a couple seasons back but went down.
We need to keep Lansbury Antonio at all costs. It's obvious burnley / dyke want Lansbury well slap a silly price on his head
6m they've been chasing him for ages now.

What's wrong with Jorge Grant? He seems to get overlooked when anyone talks about CMs. I have said it before (because I was at the game) and I'll say it again, last year in the League Cup loss to Spurs, he was class. He should be included in your list, perhaps even be given a chance to play now. Gardner would be a great addition but he's not fit. Grant can do a job for us in the interim. Dougie is doing well to introduce the youth, but there is still more to come.

It would be good if HL stays, but you can't put a gun to his head. Sometimes you just have to accept a player's desire to leave. We do it all the time in our jobs. You have to understand that this is a job, nothing more. The only thing that will make him stay is possibly more money and that's not happening.

Good point and Lansbury leaving would be 4m in bank and over 1m saved in wages.

Marco ??? U confuse me

You say keep Lansbury at all costs but then say sell him for £6m?

Make your mind up mate

{Ed001's Note - also how would Lansbury going result in £4m in the bank? 5% of the transfer fee is split between clubs who bring them through the academy. 5% of the fee is due to the player, unless he requests a transfer or otherwise waives his right to the cut. You also have to pay up the contract, unless he hands in a transfer request or agrees to forego it. I have not looked into his earnings, nor have I checked how long his contract has left on it, but I would assume you are talking, at bare minimum, £1m on the contract alone. That is before we consider agent's fees and other costs.}

Ed surely we wouldn't pay up his contract? Isn't that why the club makes the statement that we don't want to sell therefore it is returned to the player to almost forego a contract payment, similar to actually handing in a transfer request but allowing the player to leave with a bit of a relationship with the fans? If this is true I really am losing interest in football as a whole-if clubs/fa/premier league etc. operate in this manner not one of them deserve to be in business and fans really do need to make their voices heard or walk away from the game. One of the ed's recently mentioned about the way fan/ football trusts could become more important and I think this is the only chance of reversing some of the ridiculous actions of clubs,players and the football authorities.

{Ed001's Note - the player would have to put in a written transfer request or agree to forego his due payment in writing for the club to not have to pay it up. When Joe Cole was leaving Liverpool for West Ham United the 'free' transfer was held up for a while because he refused to leave without the club paying up, in full, the final year of his contract. In the end it cost Liverpool £3m to get rid of him, when they were already accepting a free transfer to allow West Ham to afford to meet his wage demands as that was where he wanted to go. It is sickening to be honest.}

So based on that then what's the point in selling him?

We will probably make about as much on HL as we have on Adoun, and Radi Sweet FA
CARLO

There's no point in letting anyone go. We wouldn't make a lot no matter what the fee. The midfield is not as strong as it appeared a few weeks back, Osborn will have to be careful with his shoulder on his return, Tesche (who I rate)out till around November probably, Cohen and Reid are great but will we see them again regularly. We simply can't replace anyone who goes from the loan market. these players are under contract to us and should be expected to give their best.

I thought a club only had to pay the remainder of a contract if they were allowing the player to leave on a free or the buying club didn't offer him as good a wage packet so he could then demand the remainder of his contract be paid to move?

{Ed001's Note - nope, that is how it should be. It is instead of the big signing fee they would get if they were out of contract I suppose. Usually they agree a %age rather than the full amount, or waive it altogether in the case of Alan Smith leaving Leeds United, who waived all the money he was due on the transfer to allow it to go to Leeds to help them with their debts. It often depends on how keen they are to leave. It is the reason why so many transfers recently follow a written transfer request, as the selling club will often ask the player to hand one in to make the move happen. Sometimes the buying club will agree to pay that too. It really is a case by case basis, but the player is entitled to it.}

The facts are that Lansbury wants to go, he could have stopped this a while and just said I am staying, he has not done that. His Agent has too much to loose to let this not go through and no doubt Lansbury will due a whopping signing on fee and a good increase in wages. It is a no brainer for Lansbury. If the Club at this stage stopp the transfer, we are going to be left with one very unhappy player

He must have three years left on his contract and if that is the case we would have to pay him off with £3+ million.
Meaning after all costs taken into account Forest would sell a player for £3million and be £1million out of pocket!
Plus he has asked to speak to Burnley according to the post report.
