So the Bolton v Brentford game will not be played this week and some in the media are suggesting that the home fixture for us on Sunday may well already be shrouded in some doubt.

I have to say that I was surprised to learn that EFL rules for games to be completed up to 4 days after the official end of the season purely because I was under the impression that the season finale HAD to be played at the same time and on the same day to avoid any suggestions that one team may well have an advantage in knowing what they had to do as it were regarding promotion or relegation.

Perhaps luckily both of their outstanding games are not going to affect either of those issues but imagine if they were due to play Derby and Middlesborough and the possible ramifications involved and the hundreds of millions riding on it.

Theoretically Deerby could have played a massively understrength team of youngsters and rattled up a cricket score whilst a few days later , with the Bolton players issues being resolved, Boro playing a much stronger side with maybe something to prove .

It is a deeply regrettable situation and as usual it is the fans that will inevitably suffer the consequences but in my opinion the EFL seem to have fudged this issue where more positive and direct action should have been taken with, for me, great consideration being given to the total expunging of the Bolton results this year

It is sad the situation with Bolton, but it shows the rules as far as fair play does not help clubs with rubbish owners.

Like I've said creepy I think it's a pointless game given the circumstances and playing brentford's after the seasons over is even more pointless.
The only reason the efl want it played is for the final placings to be correct as I believe you get slightly more money for each place higher up the league you finish,or is that just the premier league ?

Aps. Because they like the FA are only interested in lining their own pockets and not their members.

I think the PFA loaned money to foot the wage bill in November and December but declined any more due to the outstanding winding up order.

I suppose it's too much to ask the Premier league's elite to chip in. The gap between them and the rest of us grows wider by the day. I really have to feel for the Bolton fans.

It was the EFL that gave Bolton an early fund to 0ay the wages the PFA have done nothing which is no surprise as Mr Taylor needs his pension from them.
