Leeds and Fulham have agreed an £11m fee for McCormack that is just crazy glad we were not stupid enough to dragged in to it.

1.) 08 Jul 2014
He'll be under tremendous pressure to deliver now with that price tag.

2.) 08 Jul 2014
Agreed does seem silly for a guy that's proven in the championship but does not play top flight football.
But Fulham have more than enough money from parachute payments and wealthy owner.
If he goes on to score 20 odd goals and they are promoted may not seem so expensive though. COYR

I agree its crazy, I know strikers are worth more than center backs but I think this is the sort of figure we should be looking at for jammal also with top English defensive players being rare atm we should hold out for as much as possible. It would be nice to hold onto our top talent but I wouldn't want to deny a player wanting to play for someone like arsenal

{Ed034's Note - its like you say, strikers do go for more money.
its funny how so many fans are saying our player should be worth £10m+ but when it comes to other teams players going for that, its silly lol

4.) 08 Jul 2014
Lol stupid money Fulham May well have had there fingers burnt there! And surely the ffp rules that must be most of the money they can spend

5.) 08 Jul 2014
Never worth that amount of money, he's good but why has no Premiership club signed him

6.) 08 Jul 2014
Agreed that fee is crazy.

7.) 08 Jul 2014
Leeds laughing all the way to the bank. He won't deliver next season imo.

8.) 08 Jul 2014
I agree its a lot of money but I think it pretty much guarantees them a top 6 finish next season which is well worth the investment risk of getting them back into the premiership.

9.) 08 Jul 2014
Good player, Leeds definitely saw them coming, smacks of desperation on Fulham`s part. another Portsmouth in the waiting if it doesn`t pay off for them.
To be honest I think we got a much better deal with Fryatt and the Dutch lad.

10.) 08 Jul 2014
I would offer Andy Johnson released by Fulham a short term contract to prove his fitness as he will get double figures in this league if fit?

{Ed034's Note - in talks with Sheffield Wednesday I understand

11.) 08 Jul 2014
Someone is going to have to explain the following to me.

Lambert (proven championship and premiership striker) signs from a Premiership Team to a Top 4 Premiership team for £4m

McCormack (proven championship striker only) signs from a championship team to another championship team for £11m

I'm afraid this league is now in the same trouble that the Premier League is. Clubs shouldn't be paying that much for a player in this league. League 1 teams are demanding £3-5m for their strikers. It's mind blowing how money is now not only ruining the top division but ours also!

This is madness, Fulham have the parachute money which will help them, but if they don't get promoted with in the first season it's only a waste of money, however if scores the goals and wins them the league how's to say it's not money well spent

13.) 08 Jul 2014
Would be good to see some modifications to the FFP rules about relegated teams with parachute payments for example only a percentage of that in relation to their income can be used for new transfers. Would certainly level the playing field a little. The rest could be used however they wish, just not the majority on buying their way back into the league above. Seems an easy solution and would make the league a more level playing field for everyone. Huge credit to Burnley for competing at the highest level last season as well as Leicester. Both outdoing QPR, so it can be done but it's hardly a fair system to those with less resources. Just my opinion.

14.) 08 Jul 2014
QPR did the same last year by signing Austin.

Q: How do we get back into the Prem?
A: You buy the best striker in the League

Fulham probably looked at the likes of us, 'Boro and Leeds, and thought that it's in their best interests to get out as quickly as possible whilst they still have the money and profile to do so.

Probably a sign of things to come from newly relegated Prem teams.

15.) 08 Jul 2014
I think Parachute payments are very unfair to teams already in the league. If clubs being relegated didn't make appropriate plans for relegation i. e. clauses in players contracts to take salary reductions - why should they basically be given money to help them get back to the premiership to. make more money!

16.) 08 Jul 2014
Why do teams get parachute payments and does this happen in other leagues Spain, Germany etc, leeds new owner must be laughing his head off getting £11 million for McCormack, he's prob worth 5 million tops, the games gone mad, Up the reds can't wait for season to start

{Ed034's Note - to help them ease back into the league due to the money in the prem being massively higher than the championship and having players on orenuer league wages

17.) 08 Jul 2014
Get over it, this has happened for years. I remember a certain club going down and buying someone called Pierre van hooijdonk. I'm sure no one had an Issue about that when we got promoted the very next season.

Have to agree with redinexile. Andy Johnson would be a good signing

{Ed034's Note - we signed pvh when in the top flight and there wasn't ffp to work towards

18.) 08 Jul 2014
Correct Ed

{Ed034's Note - thanks lol

19.) 09 Jul 2014
Sorry your right. I was sure he signed the summer we got relegated
