1.) Sure SP has said the Mancienne was only £500,000 and possibly the same for Big Lars so even better business than we thought.

2.) Been a good summer on face value for sure. Liked SP's comments today about if someone said at the beginning of the week 2 players would be sold, loaned back, and those funds reinvested where he needs it, he'd have snatched at the chance. You Reds! Bring on Saturday!

3.) Lars was only £500,000 as well.

Who would miss more lansbury or reid, Saying the name Andy Reid to a follower of Premier League football tends to draw a guffaw of laughter followed by an overly banterous reference to his weight - Forest supporters are more than happy with such ignorance.

In fact, Reid has improved immeasurably from a man whose career seemed to be slipping away. He was named as the fourth best player in the Championship last season despite Forest failing to make the play-offs (of the top three only Ross McCormack remains in the division), and Reid now displays commitment and professionalism even he would admit was lacking from his early career.

Reid's influence at the City Ground was epitomised by the huge gap between Forest's record with and without their most experienced player. They lost just three of the 32 matches he played last season (1. 84 points per game), but of the 21 he missed only four were won (0. 80 points per game).

I only hope that has persuaded you that this was an unbiased selection. Mostly.

1.) A true Forest legend.

We all love chris cohen, especially for his whole hearted non stop 100percent performances, so please can people explain to me why they seem so keen to get rid of jamie makie? Is he not a 100 percent player like cohen? Just like cohen he's not the most technically gifted player but has a great engine!

Fully agree we want more players that will die for our badge he won't be going anywere he's just what our pearcey likes.

2.) Dont know why Some of us want Mackie gone. We need Mackie in our team/squad. A step backward to get rid of Mackie for me.

3.) What I would say is I like makie
its just were do you play him? up front he not score
on wing don't think he is a winger so crossing the ball in sometimes goes for throw in other side,
if we are looking at bringing in better then yes but I would keep him good squad player or to come on last 15mins

4.) Mackie has a poor strike rate 4 goals in 38 appearances, he's not got the quality needed if we want to do well in this division, he hasn't got the vision or the composure to make a telling pass when it counts, I think we have better youngsters coming through who even now can do as good a job or better than Mackie, I agree he always gives 100% but no where near good enough, very average championship player I think he was a very poor signing last summer for £1,000,000

{Ed034's Note - disagree. think he's a great player to have in the side and would be my right sided player

5.) 16 Jul 2014 11:36:07
Jara gone to Mainz in the Bundesliga. let's hope they see what we saw of him and not the Jara of the World Cup!

6.) Strange post this!
We don't want players just because they give 100% - parks players do that.
Giving 100% is a great attribute on top of talent. In my opinion Cohen has that talent and Mackie doesn't.
I do like Mackie's attitude though and he is probably worth keeping because I think his undoubted work ethic goes a long way.
I would also guess he is a Stuart Pearce type of guy.

{Ed034's Note - i dont understand what fans do not see in mackie. full backs hatep laying agaisnt strong wongers, that can turn and will run at them all day long. that's exactly what he does

7.) He's woeful if played up front, we saw that last year, but on the wing he can breeze past people, runs at defenders and is direct, great worker and manages to get his work done with a bizarre technique, keep him as a winger and don't let him shoot!

8.) What's a strong wonger ed

{Ed034's Note - its a tired ed writing winger lol

9.) Mackie was one of the only players second half of last season who showed any kind of commitment. Drove forward at every opportunity and showed his versatility at right back against Brighton. Give the guy a break. He will do us proud again next Season.

10.) Mackie forms part of our attacking threat and therefore should primarily be judged on his end product. He may be a handful who runs til he drops, but 4 goals & 6 assists last season was a poor return.

{Ed034's Note - he produces an attacking threat and can be used as a great outlet to start off attacks. just becasue he hasnt played the final ball, doesnt mean he hasnt contributed in goals

11.) He's hard working and wears his heart on his sleeve just what we need to keep

12.) 16 Jul 2014 13:52:05
Took the words out my mouth he stood out end of season never stopped full credit to the man. just wot we want round the young ones wears his heart on his sleeve we need more like him. play him wide right he ll be player of season especially now we ave a gaffer who will fill u with confidence.

13.) Just want to chuck it in that although I don't think Mackie is the most gifted of our squad, he does turn and run at defenders and makes opportunities.

For me, he makes the squad every week, maybe not the starting XI every week however but I'd keep him.

14.) The secret of success is to pick a winning team not a team of your best players. Mackie is one of our best team players and should be one of the first names in the squad every week.

15.) If you play Mackie, then I wouldn't play Cox. Both hard working but few goals/assists from either.

16.) Also in response to original post, Cohen is a great crosser (probably obly Reid better) so I don't think its just about him giving 100%.

{Ed034's Note - wow

17.) Let's try and give all the lads a clean sheet for the start of the season. Last year was a nightmare and we don't really know what went on but most of the players must have been completely lost and confused.

Mackie and Cox may well cove good this season with a steadied ship and decent leadership.

No good slating anyone on last seasons form, it's history and this season is a new start

Come on lads be positive and trust the new management team to get rid of who they want. Whoever stays we must back them and give them our support.

18.) I agree. I wasnt trying to be negative about Mackie but I personally think Cohen is much more effective than a "100% effort" type of player. I want Mackie to stay and with the quality coming in you have to be positive about our chances.

Just a question for ed and the fans, do you think the hefty fees us fans and championship clubs are wanting for for our English youngsters is holding back the English game In regards to the England team? Isn't it just easier and cheaper for the prem teams to go abroad?

hucknallred

{Ed034's Note - not at all no. fans see other players moving for big money and do not see why theirs shouldnt either. it is the clubs who have made fans want this, by buying and selling at these overrated prices

I agree its crazy, I know strikers are worth more than center backs but I think this is the sort of figure we should be looking at for jammal also with top English defensive players being rare atm we should hold out for as much as possible. It would be nice to hold onto our top talent but I wouldn't want to deny a player wanting to play for someone like arsenal

hucknallred

{Ed034's Note - its like you say, strikers do go for more money.
its funny how so many fans are saying our player should be worth £10m+ but when it comes to other teams players going for that, its silly lol

My point is for people to back him, when a player with no name comes into a club people automatically dismiss them especially when there last club was Barnsley, just wanted people to think positive about him us as a fanbase are to quick to judge and critise somone . not saying anyone hasn't backed him just saying this before people start to criticise then signing

Not a lot , he is a right back that can play right mid, quick and he is only 21 years old, I think we all should back him and not judge him before he plays.

Agree wit redinexile, if we can't get more why not? Zaha was around 15 mil to man u what's he done? One good season in the championship, rhodes was 8 mil to Blackburn and wasn't he still in league one?

And as we no confidence is number one when it comes to form, I think proberly one of the best things to come from today is no injury's to our players if we can keep a fit back four and central mid then we are in for a good shout this season.
