I know I keep going on about it, but the under 21's lost at home to Watford, who in doing this won their first match of the season, and before anyone says anything Forest had a strong side out. Etimov, Riera, Williams, Grant, Burke, Walker, all members of the first team squad.

Fullerton will do the same to the Forest under 21's, as what he did to Bolton under 21's. Go backwards. Fullerton is a waste of space, but nothing will happen as he is DF best mate. Perhaps someone should send Fawaz a Twitter message and tell him what is going off, especially as he has invested a lot of money in Forest youth. Bring back Gilligan.

They don't need to win games to progress, they can worry about winning games when/if they make the first team.

Why don't you send him a Twitter message?

Winning games gives confidence, confidence aids development.

Shadow/Gilligan - Maybe the wannabe's aren't up to it? It's playing for the U21's where you get found out professionally. Outside of football, I've seen teams perform well with bad managers.

Not on Twitter red.i.am. Agree with Monty. Gilligan as I understand it is first team coach. Funny old thing also. Under 21 matches now being played at the City Ground. Last year predominantly at the Academy. DF doing another favour for his mate. I hope I am wrong but it is all down hill for the Under 21's this season.

I struggle to comprehend how the under 21's playing at the city ground and not the academy has anything to do with DF Doing a 'favour' for his mate. How on earth can you construe this as a negative thing!!!

Surely they are playing at the city ground because the academy is being used for training?

And to be fair does it actually matter about the u21s? Most teams use this as a way to keep the non regular first teamers and those coming back from injury fit. Sure it's nice to keep the winning ethos throughout a club but I'd rather them be used to increase the chance of success for the first team as that is the one that pays the bills. Personally I'd see this as a priority below u18s in terms of indications of influencing first team success in the future.

They have to use the city Ground at least 3 times as a requirement to play in the u21 league they are in. All the club's have too, whether it's now or later on in the season

Jimmy Gilligan is first team coach at Nottingham Forest. Neil McDonald left the Academy last season to go to Aston Villa.

Not sure what all this "Gilligan mania" is all about or whether or not he is a top coach?

All I do know is that he was brought into the club by one D Platt Esq and we have never been the same club since!???

Gilligan left when Platt left and has only been back for last 18 months after being head coach at the Nike Academy (plus other jobs in between). We may have some first team members in the U21 but most are still U21 and only been 1st team members this season but we also have quite a few U18s in the U21s as well and the team tends to change week in week out to give players the game time.

I Agree with OMRIFTT that the U18s is a better indication for the club.
