Cjay, you’ve made some excellent points that do offer an alternative view on the Karanka situation. I don’t concur yet that Carvalho is money will spent, I don t see that he’s any better than McKay at the moment. Time will tell though and it is early days yet

Carvalho looks quality, some might say 13 mill should get you ready made, but give this lad a little time to settle & he'll fire. Also let's not forget the current instability behind & in front of him.

Cant have the Mckay comparison, they're night & day for me. Mckay did it in glimpses then disappeared off a cliff, hid on the byline, never tracked back, ducked out of tackles.

Carvalhos got a decent engine, defends from the front, moves the ball at speed & generally looks one step ahead.

Worth every penny.

Doesn’t do any of that for me but I guarantee you I’ll be the first on here to concede I was wrong if he comes to fruition . I agree that McKay was a wimp (thought long and hard about say that and tempting fate tomorrow !) Carvalho has more bottle but I’m interested in how much a very expensive player influences games and creates outcomes. I’ve yet to see him influence a game or create game influencing outcomes. I don’t feel he should be statin every game , I hope his influence improves as carvalho is the loaded gun with Karankas head in the cross hares. I think carvalho needs to get to it in the next few games

Co I totally agree about Calvalho,he is one step ahead and would have had a better understanding with brereton than two old guys.
He needs the support from the holding midfielders and quite frankly they haven't got the legs either.
There lies the problem, better when geddy us in there as he links up,better when bridcutt in there as he links up,would be even better with Matty in there with his energy and eye for a goal.
If he plays Watson and colback together tomorrow then he only has himself to blame when it goes wrong

Based on his performances so far if Cahvallho was called Smith and came from Doncaster for a hundred grand fee would be saying he should be in the starting 11. Think we're getting caught in the trap of thinking because he came from Benfica and cost a lot of money he must have something about him. He may well come good but at the moment he should be on the bench for the first team and playing in the under 23's to get used to English football and show what he can do. That's what the likes of Cash and Osborn have had to do.

Pass the ball, if that’s the case we shouldn’t have signed him, there is no way in my eyes that a championship club spends 13 million on a player who needs bench time. If Cjay is correct and it’s been minimal outlay on close to 20 new players it’s likley we’ve got a lot of players who may not be as good as what we hoped we would get. Let’s be honest we can’t influence it either way. If carvalho doesn’t influence games soon the dye Is cast because no championship manager would survive spending that money in one player without return. Definitely not one with Marinakis as their pay master.

Come on 2 star you don't honestly believe it was karankas idea to sign the Portuguese trio?
These are marinakis signings through his friend and agent along with the Greek lad and the Iranian coming in.
The rest are his signings to fit in with them.

Maybe it's the others who need to on Calvalho's wavelength rather than the other way around? Now we have some more quality in the DM department our creatives can express themselves more without leaking goals at the back!

Well if they are he will defo get the push if they don’t start performing as he will have someone else lined up who mendes says will get them performing
