Best defensive tight unit we've seen in years, then we attack with pace .
Championship bewere we are serious contenders.

Ff799

1.) 26 Feb 2019 10:51:41
FF, if the only thing that MON and RK learned from BC was build from the back, we're in safe hands. Would like more goals and control in games but obvious they're just getting the best out of the squad at their disposal. I would also suggest they are keeping it simple and back to basics, no more confused players on the pitch! Long may it continue and more than happy to make my charitable donation, especially if top 6 is achieved. COYR.

2.) 26 Feb 2019 12:00:26
It's the first time in years that I can watch crosses coming into our box and feel confident the centre backs will deal with them.
The team doesn't allow the opposition to run at us and the way Martin has put colback further forward allows us to win the ball higher up the pitch.
I just wish karanka had walked after the Ipswich game,I think we would have collected more points by now.

3.) 26 Feb 2019 13:01:59
The way Martin has changed things for the better Ff i think had Karanka left after the Ipswich game or earlier we would be in the play offs positions.

4.) 26 Feb 2019 20:00:31
Zonal marking under Karbala - hence why pants wouldnโ€™t come off his line . Nobody has Concidence in what the other will do which makes them look like statues .

5.) 26 Feb 2019 21:56:50
Give me good old fashioned man marking ,any day of the week.

6.) 27 Feb 2019 12:27:46
It's strange when Mon was appointed certain individuals mocked him. Hmmmmmm!
Well things are definitely looking up.

7.) 27 Feb 2019 13:37:48
Fbb, No matter who joins us as manager there are always going to be some sceptics.

8.) 27 Feb 2019 19:24:12
I have to be honest I cannot recall anyone mocking M ON when he was appointed.

9.) 27 Feb 2019 20:31:51
Some questioned his appointment.

10.) 27 Feb 2019 22:50:41
Sutton has never been heard of since, took one look at the team sheet, went off on one we won and that's the last we heard.๐Ÿ˜

16 Feb 2019 20:43:03
Good to see Martin sorting out our discipline on the pitch,is today our first game without a booking?
Starting to look like a proper team with discipline and the players understanding their roles and what is expected of them.

Can't do nothing about referees decisions and Martin is leading by example and while he's disapionted,he isn't going overboard about it.
Robinson has been one card away from a ban for a few games now, he wouldn't have managed that before Martin came,he's picked up some stupid bookings this season.

One which cost us the three points.
All in all we are getting better and stronger.

Ff799

1.) 17 Feb 2019 16:32:33
To be fair I think was more down to the ref keeping his cards in his pocket. Both centre halves and Yates would have picked up bookings any other day.

I don't think I've ever seen a ref call a Captain over to warn him about defenders tackling. They must be pretending not to speak English?

2.) 17 Feb 2019 16:56:13
To go unbeaten last 3 games against brenford, wba and preston is extemely good in my opinion. And to think it could have and probably should have been 9 poinys just shows we are improving. Bring on the sheep

01 Feb 2019 22:59:50
WHERES SUTTON?
Anyone would think we lost to Wigan?

Ff799

5.) 02 Feb 2019 15:07:07
Ran off to Gretna Green with Karanka only to be turned away as all forest fans and ex managers are barred . Something about someone called warburton and a forest fan arriving there last year and being rumbled in the bushes, in very compromising positions post ceremony. FF79 - 10?๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

6.) 02 Feb 2019 17:02:41
I think Sutton will be making an appearance soon after todayโ€™s performance.

7.) 02 Feb 2019 17:55:45
Guys,I actually got married in 1997 at Gretna Green!!!
We stayed at The Lovers Leap chalet bungalows.
(My mates running about shouting "Hi-De- Hi!!")
My Brother in Law has always maintained "Rogie, your wedding day has to this day been the best I've ever been at"
My wife pulling pints behind the bar ( the wee bar maid gave up!!)
I actually arrived at the WRONG part of the complex!!!
Her Dad always laughs when he reminds me when he says "I'll never forget the look on your face when you realised you were at the wrong part of the complex!!!
We all ran down the road with our Top Hats and Tails, the usher, best man, mates etc. he said we "looked like one of the end scene's you got at the end of The Benny Hill Show!!"
Anyway we got married over The Anvil Of The Marriage's. were the Minister proclaimed "I now prrrronounce Yee man and wife!!"
And struck The Anvil "Ting!!!!"
Still together 22 yrs later. fantastic memories.

18 Mar 2019 20:40:04
Read all your comments on styles and formations, but it still comes down to having a squad of 40 odd players and yet grabban gets injured and we have no one to take his place.

We have every defensive situation covered, be it defence or midfield, but when either cash, lolley or calvahalo are injured or off form we have no one to come in either.
It really does need a clearout of defensive players and bring in more offensive players, otherwise we are going to struggle.

Ff799

1.) 20 Mar 2019 21:35:48
We need some more pacey players. I wouldn't be surprised to see Appiah get a run out soon...

17 Mar 2019 23:08:35
It's interesting reading all the comments about calvahalo and mart8n being negative in his team selection.
How can he be positive anymore than he does?
Leaves calvahalo out, cash has been injured so can't pick him, that leaves Yates, geddy ,yacob, colback, bridcutt,Pele, gongalves, lolley,Osborn, ward, appiah, watson,to pick from?
All class players going forward lol.
Add a forward line of Murphy, the Iranian mess, and an unfit Bonatini and fans expect miracles?
It's a very unbalanced squad that needs serious pruning and a different direction

Ff799

1.) 18 Mar 2019 06:38:05
Guedioura as one of the 3 in the middle would be a start.
Our best dm Colback has been mistakenly moved from his best position in the centre to accommodate Yates who is basically a 3 foot taller version of Osborn. Will run around for you all day but will give you sod all else.

2.) 18 Mar 2019 08:38:16
Heโ€™s dealing with the same problems as AK was and generally the points / game ratio is probably about the same (havenโ€™t checked so donโ€™t know for sure). ONeil is no miracle worker but I suppose some would have been expecting some progress.

3.) 18 Mar 2019 09:08:09
There's one difference there 2star most of the players were bought in by karanka the few players Mon bought in have made a difference especially at the back come summer I expect a lot in and a lot out next season I expect to see a big improvement

4.) 18 Mar 2019 09:13:43
I can't understand why Yacob has been completely dropped, not even on the bench.

5.) 18 Mar 2019 09:49:54
The club brings the players in, not the manager. The manager picks the team (we hope), formation and style of play. We have a lot of pieces from lots of jigsaws, MON has replaced AK but we still can't make a complete picture of a team. We've lost some pieces to injury/suspension, tried to force some in and apparently lost a few. Results? Up and down, as they have been all season. Only bonus is between the 2 management teams, we've enough points to avoid a relegation battle. From an owners perspective, football on the pitch, 5/10. Peed money up the wall, for little return. Off the pitch, 8/10. Maybe this is where the owners should concentrate their expertise?

6.) 18 Mar 2019 11:01:29
Every time geddy starts a game he plays poor,he's a twenty minute man, like quite a few,Yates did alright centre mid,but has struggled playing wide right to cover for cashs injury, other than take a gamble on appiah can't see much that he could have done to make us more attack minded

7.) 18 Mar 2019 13:18:47
He couldnโ€™t have done anymore with what heโ€™s had. I get that sport is about dreams the season was always likely to fizzle out. MON is being judged already because there is no progress. I hope we all become acceptant that itโ€™s our future that is more important than this season

13 Mar 2019 22:01:10
Redinexile,it's time to through your lucky rpants away, badly missed grabban today,we have nothing else to pick and Martin has worked wonders without him.

Ff799

1.) 13 Mar 2019 22:15:46
MON has worked wonders you are having a laugh. MON was out thought on all fronts and his inconsistency is a real worry. These are the games we should be winning and to say it's because Grabban was not playing is ridiculous

2.) 13 Mar 2019 22:24:17
You'd better get your name down then for manager mate, who should you have played up front then?
Can't wait for your reply๐Ÿคฃ

3.) 13 Mar 2019 22:38:41
I think you will find out mickn Mon as done wonders with the players he got to bring in villa have better players full stop apart from lolley are team looked average again and as I keep saying about carvahlo good impact sub for 20 mins but that's your lot hopefully off to olympiacos in summer where he will play better football and we will get money back so Mon can invest in his own players

4.) 13 Mar 2019 23:01:12
Weโ€™ve not really improved mick but give it time mate. Youโ€™re right to observe that we were out though tonight . Well done McGin - a dominant 20 mins from him was the difference .

5.) 14 Mar 2019 03:44:17
No more inconsistent under MON than any of the previous few managers. The inability to win 2 on the trot seems to be psychological, especially when you consider the ratio of losses to teams below us. Time to get a sports shrink in for a few sessions.

6.) 14 Mar 2019 06:14:00
We were inconsistent under Karanka.

7.) 14 Mar 2019 09:34:50
I wouldn't say he's worked wonders, Ff. We're no better under O'neill than we was with krankie. We still look like an average, mid-table championship team.

8.) 14 Mar 2019 10:28:37
What do you expect psycho with some of the cross and money wasted by krankie lol

Also the pace of the game has changed beyond recognition.
Talking pitches can anyone remember us playing a game at home under sir Brian on a pitch covered in snow and a Orange ball,I know we won it and can remember Larry Lloyd being foot perfect, just can't remember who we beat.

Right back to Trevor Francis tripping on a blade of grass,we seem to lose our best players to injury.
No mechanics in it just the rub of the green.
The modern day pitches and the fact they are knitted together with mesh and players wearing blades is bound to cause injuries,we are unlucky in some ways, but we have signed many players out of contract and not match fit,so injuries will happen on a bigger scale

Not so much they are average, but just the same type of player, run pass backwards and have no flair. Just a Massive unbalanced squad.
Makes me wonder what would happen if you slung appiah, lolley and goby in there and let the opposition worry about their pace?

At least the opposition couldn't man mark lolley.
It's not the modern game though unfortunately and you can see why, as any manager employing such tactics would be loved if successful, but would be sacked in no time if a failure, most just go for caution and it's understandable
