I am beyond astonished that we are not concentrating on strengthening our hopeless defence in this transfer window.
#relegation dogfight.

How do u no we are not after any defenders just because we're not linked to any doesn't mean we're not looking at any let mw and fm do there jobs keep the faith and let's stop with the doom and gloom you redssss.

Bridgford lower, it's not doom and gloom it's very worrying that as soon as we are linked to a striker it is all over the rumour sites, but nothing is being rumoured about defenders, all we have heard is a perhaps, maybe, about the Aussie geezer from Burton, MW might be thinking 💭 he can manage with what we have I bl--dy hope not, he saw the shambles it was last season, so i hope you are right and there is activity behind the scenes to bring in a couple of good defenders or the starting 11 will be goalies and strikers 😎😀.

When you think about it individually our defenders are ok: Smith a more than decent keeper, Lichaj - Mr consistent, Mancienne (when fit) quick with good anticipation, Worrall - a huge talent in the making. We now need a reliable left back. Do we think poor defensive team play rather than back 5 mistakes were responsible for our terrible record last time?

If Warburton can get Mills, Hobbs, Manchienne and Traoure all fit and playing to their best then we would be ok I think (even if he can get Lam to up his game) but against County there were gaps still as there were last season. We chopped and changed the defence too much last season. For me right now we need a quick, strong centre back who is vocal and experienced and cover/ competition at full backs. Justin James (if signed) would provide cover at both left and right back. but the only rumour I have heard about a experienced centre back was Hector on loan which has gone quiet. Someone like him or Grant Hadley is what we need. unless MW thinks he can get Mills playing like he did in his Reading days or Hobbs did in his Hull and early Forest days. If we can keep the ball better in midfield it will help. We looked better for that last season under MW when Cohen and Vaughan were fit and playing if they can play more games and if we sign a few new midfielders (Irvine, Bouchalakis, Perry- Ruddock) or if kids like Cash or Edser push on or if Manchienne or Lam start playing in more forward role (I think both are more suited to Defensive Midfield than CB personally) who knows.

Correct me if I am wrong but these were the same defenders under douggie freedman who were excellent the season before last we just couldn't score that year
Then the chopping and changing happened with a different defence every game
So hopefully MW can do something with them.

Its all part of MW jigsaw its taking time but its slowly coming together in Hobbs if he can stay fit and healthy there ain't many better in the championship a couple more significant signing, s we'll be OK next season top half hopefully better one never know, s its going to be a tough old league I think we'll do OK.

Where you have gone wrong is those defenders also had our midfield right in front of them rather than in midfield. If you can organise them properly having 8 in defence is easier not to concede.

Typical season not started its already doom and gloom maybe certain people on here would have been happier if we'd had been relegated then we'd all have something to moan about.

66. It amazes me is how some posters love to use the term doom and gloomers every time someone shows some concern. Yes the are some that come out and talk about relegation before a ball is kicked, which i feel is over reacting, but those that are stating a sensible concern are not doom and gloomers. As for my post is concerned about DF it is factal in that he did have 8 in defence and expected the midfielders to do too much as they were sat just in front of our defence.

Well if we play 1,8,2 formation and win promotion I for one will be happy I was just stating that we are pre assuming what will happen only time will tell after fawaz I personally believe its time to back what ever MW does if its successful only time will tell not presumption in my humble opinion.

The last game of the season sums it up for me. First half lacked confidence, sat too deep and ipswich ran midfield. The pen changed everything. Second half we played 20 yrds higher up the pitch with more confidence. Vaugn and Worral started hitting them with hard tackles and we played them off the park. Confidence is key. Push up the pitch we look good. Sit deep we are a shambles.
