The Telegraph plans are afoot to get teams training again by May 16th, start the season in June and finish in July.

That is ambitious, even if being played behind closed doors i would have thought October at the earliest.

Cambridgeshire Red

1.) 09 Apr 2020 13:54:43
I hope that happens because it will mean we are out of lockdown and we can all start putting our lives back together.
But lockdown will be a stage by stage easing of things so it will depend on how many people are allowed to be in a group at a time.
Even playing footballbehind closed doors would mean at least 150 people mixing especially if televised.
Freind of mine works for the greene king pub chain and has been furloughed but has been told that they aren't expecting to reopen till late june.
Football will just have to wait and see what they are allowed to do and when as they won't be given any special treatment.
If everyone just stays in the quicker we all get back our lives but when you have idiots having street parties and get togethers itslikely to take longer i'm afraid.

2.) 10 Apr 2020 11:15:28
Too much money involved for season to be voided.
Season could be completed in a month. Playing Saturday Wednesday Saturday for 3 or 4 weeks.
Even if this takes place August. Would be done for September. Then start new season end October. But play more midweek games and cancel cup completions.

3.) 10 Apr 2020 13:39:33
I’ve said this for a while but what they should do is put all games behind closed doors, then film it and put some games behind a paywall like £5-10 per game, season ticket holders get it for free. Then premiership games can be played 2 games a day every day one mid day one evening but on BBC one and ITV. That way those on lockdown have something to watch and there’s no risk to the public.

4.) 10 Apr 2020 14:04:01
No way can thathappen mate every player would have to stay 2 metre away from each other.
They won't be allowed to play behind closed doors even until its allowed that groups of a hundred people can be together.
Footballers aren't imune from covid they aren't a special case because too much money at stake.
Think how much money got lost at wimbledon and the open?
Not to mention Glastonbury and all the other major events.
I have no idea why you think football will be the exception.

5.) 10 Apr 2020 15:52:51
Come on guys-We shouldn’t start talking nonsense or we’ll sound like some of those idiots asking the questions after the daily updates. Why suggest early October at the earliest? The next person suggests late September and then another says mid October? Oh go on I’ll join in and say 11th of October 🤷🏻‍♂️
It’s a complete guess and is just literally a waste of time. We don’t know when the peak is coming, what will happen when we reach the peak or what the effects will be when the lockdown is lifted. It really is a waiting game and we must listen to the experts and follow their advice for the good of everyone.

6.) 10 Apr 2020 16:22:13
Is the 11th of october a saturday 2 tone? 😁🍻
Hope you are well and the family mate stay safe.

7.) 10 Apr 2020 17:42:17
The 11th could be based on a little alcoholic beverage FF👍🍻
Hope your keeping well too, along with everyone else who is doing their bit to battle through this - keep smiling and look after everyone you can.

8.) 10 Apr 2020 19:14:51
Mate it makes you look at life in a different way.
I was bought up when shops shut at 6pm and on wenesday it was half day sunday they were all shut.
Then the rat race started and we've all been on that ride ever since.
At the end of the day without your health you have nothing.

9.) 10 Apr 2020 19:50:53
When i was growing up a Curly Wurly was 10p and Fish with Chips were £1.

10.) 10 Apr 2020 20:31:33
First thing i remember after pounds shilling and pence was petrol being 30p a gallon yes a gallon and a pint costing 14p.
I wernt into curly wurlies only the perm on my head which i got done at kieth halls for £5
Cost more than the petrol in my car but went along way with the ladies though😉😉.

11.) 11 Apr 2020 08:29:07
Well put 2tone the way it is all we can hope for is getting through the next few months alive and with our health intact.
Any sport just pales compared to the battle being fought to keep civilisation afloat.
Any idiot breaking the curfew is spitting in the faces of our brave nurses, doctors and all those involved in putting our health before theirs.
Great pearls from 79 too.
These are unprecedented times and i hope that you are safe and able to put food on the table!

12.) 20 Apr 2020 12:59:13
Lockdown is here for several months. A vaccine will take over a year. Large crowds of people will spread the disease. Forget sport for now, just concentrate on keeping alive and keeping others safe.

08 Mar 2020 12:40:39
There is talk that we have scouts regularly watching Benfica games, and we are going to get £15m from Oylmpicas at the end of the season for Carvalho, that must motivate the player to play well.

Cambridgeshire Red

1.) 08 Mar 2020 18:51:31
I’d rather our scouts watching lower leagues than that.

2.) 08 Mar 2020 20:56:46
In this day and age you'd think they would let the brownies and girl guides watch benfica as well. 😁😁.

3.) 08 Mar 2020 21:10:27
I like to eat a good brownie, if it is soft and a bit gooey inside, very tasty.

The manager thinks Da Costa has a important role to play for the team and will improve its quality, and one of the options is to play him along side Grabban at on occasion.

Cambridgeshire Red

1.) 08 Apr 2020 20:09:29
Its irrelevant as there won't be any football for the foreseable future.
Theopen has been cancelled for last two weeks in july football ain't starting again anytime soon.

2.) 08 Apr 2020 20:27:44
I agree football starting up is a good way away, but what players the manager wants to keep and how important he considers them to be to the team to me is not irrelevant.

3.) 08 Apr 2020 21:18:27
The coach has only till 30 th of june on his contract as have numerous players so it is irrelevant.

4.) 09 Apr 2020 08:40:36
Not one of us can say for sure if the club will want to give the manager another contract but going off what the manager has said he would like another one and has not been given any signs off the board to say he will not get one.

Da Costa has made it clear that he likes being at the club and the manager would like him to stay so it is down to what the club wants.

There no certainties as to what the fall out will be once things get going again but i would say it will be similar to what normally happens.

Some players will want to leave, and some will refuse to leave, i can not see too many players from the list of players the club want to keep leaving.

08 Apr 2020 17:50:39
There is talk that Gareth Southgate is so unhappy at Kyle Walker for being a hypocrite to such a extent that he released a video urging everyone to think of others then ignored the governments advice to self isolate and keep two meters away from others by enjoying the pleasures of the flesh with strangers.

Cambridgeshire Red

1.) 08 Apr 2020 18:31:25
The bloke 22 carat idiot with brains in his shorts should be bànned from playing for England ever again.
Him and jack grealish aren't fit to be role models and grovelling after the event isn't good enough.

2.) 08 Apr 2020 18:47:44
I agree one hundred percent, Southgate might be strong enough to take that stance, it is what is needed.

07 Apr 2020 18:50:21
I see the club have changed their help the community policy and decided to put some non playing staff on furlough.

Cambridgeshire Red

1.) 07 Apr 2020 19:21:18

You are one serious argumentalist 🤣🤣🤣

When this virus threat is under control i hope the NHS gets treated as it deserves to be.

It needs restructuring, i found out today that different hospitals pay different amounts for the same products from the same suppliers.

The NHS staff have for far too long have been treated as second class workers, being taken for granted as most see it as a calling rather than a job.

If it is going to be allowed to deteriorate any further the we will lose it then end up like America where you need to pay for insurance and where the insurance companies try to back out of coughing up for your treatment.

A friend of mine via phone and social networks told me some years ago that his mum was diagnosed with mouth cancer, when she claimed on her insurance they dragged it out for a year by which time she died.

Cambridgeshire Red

1.) 06 Apr 2020 21:05:57
More likely the NHS will be drained and spent after this episode and it'll give Boris and his cronies an excuse to further privatise parts of it.

2.) 06 Apr 2020 21:42:29
Bad timing wonkey eyes.
And in bad taste given the circumstances of a pandemic.

3.) 06 Apr 2020 22:41:02
Fff79 yep no respect mate scoring political points while people still dying,

{Ed003's Note - If you can't call out politicians during times of problems when can you ? It's folks duty to rather than follow and bow - take care all}

4.) 06 Apr 2020 23:15:13
Maybe not the best time to “ call out “ a bloke when he’s laying in intensive care,

5.) 06 Apr 2020 23:30:57
Wether there politicians or not these people have family's and children and there is no bias from this virus rich poor what job your in wether your a good person or bad person now is definitely not the time to be blaming one another we all need to stick together and hope we get through this it's the only way and we as British people do this well it's in our blood keep safe everyone.

6.) 06 Apr 2020 23:39:56
I'm with Ed003 on this. This is exactly the sort of time when the people running things are held to account. No question!

7.) 07 Apr 2020 00:48:59
Now he's in intensive care cyclist he has only a 50% chance of living so not really time at all.

8.) 07 Apr 2020 02:48:34
Which of Boris' children will be gutted? The ones he hasn't disowned? I wouldn't wish ill-health on anyone but I don't feel the need to feel sorry for him either. Apologies if this outburst isn't appropriate but we're all grown ups.

9.) 07 Apr 2020 06:25:44
This just sums up some of our lefty ‘ friends ‘ they take the moral high ground on all things preach to us, then start taking the p*** out of a bloke who could well die, because he’s a political opponent, all I can say is thank god we aren’t being run by the dim wit traitor corbyn, aided and abetted by the clown Abbott, etc, whether you approve of Johnson or not, there’s a pregnant woman to consider as well, grown ups? You sound like a spiteful child, quite frankly I feel unclean sharing a forum with opinions like this,

10.) 07 Apr 2020 07:36:31
Mate?, no one's perfect? one thing you can't say is he disowned his country, I've no time for politics, however I really hope he pulls through.

11.) 07 Apr 2020 08:34:49
Like I said nows not the time if you want to slag the bloke off at least wait till he's well talk about kick a man when he's down.

12.) 07 Apr 2020 09:49:28
Well said Skeggsy, hope you and and everyone else are staying well mate. that includes you to SSWE. 👍.

13.) 07 Apr 2020 10:54:31
Cheers rogie we're All OK at minute pal hope you and your family are well and hope after the virus as disappeared and things get back to some normality we can all meet up at a game have a few drinks together and actually put faces to the posts keep safe all.

14.) 07 Apr 2020 11:25:00
Job done Skeg

15.) 07 Apr 2020 11:31:16
We should have a jolly boys outing itsnot like we will be going abroad this year and it would be a laugh for along weekend once this is over.
Been watching the oldfools and horses to keep my spirits up.
Siting in the garden on a stool"and before you say it rogie"the chair type as all my possession are in a storage unit as was supposed to be moving house.
Nearly beer o'clock 😁.

16.) 07 Apr 2020 11:35:33
I'm up for that mate. always have been!
Lol! 🍻🍻🍻.

17.) 07 Apr 2020 12:47:02
Lol carlo 🥴🥴🍻.

18.) 07 Apr 2020 14:29:05
We'll call our "Bash" The "Carlovirus'!

19.) 07 Apr 2020 14:49:12
I'm not kicking him while he's down and I'm not a lefty. It's amazing what assumptions a fool will make with so little information to go on.

Boris sold the country down the river. He's a serial liar and has zero morals. He wouldn't and doesn't give a fudge about any of you. He's a Bullingden Club bully and he'd deficate on your picnic if he or his mates could make a living from it. Excuse me if I don't care about him. I'll save my sorrow for the true tragedies in life, not some priveleged Tory scumbag who can't be trusted. If this opinion is too strong for you then I suggest you step outside your bubble and grow up. Nothing any of you could say would anger me or make me want you to stop posting. I'm not a snowflake and nor should you be. You're grown men.

20.) 07 Apr 2020 15:00:58
You could say that about any prime minister or politician wonkey non worse than tony blair or john prestcott.

21.) 07 Apr 2020 15:42:07
SSwe The only foolish thing I’ve done is bother to read your post . Your not a lefty, but refer to the democratically elected conservative prime minister as a ‘ Tory scumbag’ smacks of the language of traitor Corbyns anti Semitic, anti democratic storm troopers, momentum, I've change my mind though, your self confessed ‘ outburst probably was appropriate, but only for someone with little empathy ,

22.) 07 Apr 2020 15:48:21
Looks like we'll need a couple of leadson this bash? 🤣🤣🤣.

23.) 07 Apr 2020 15:56:47
Difference between me and you wonky his I care about everyone that gets it I don't wish it on my worst enemy and every person in Parliament and probably on this site as lied about something in there life I'm not interested in politics Labour conservatives all the same to me they all give false hopes anyway your entitled to your selfish opinion and as for fool take a look in the mirror that's if it doesn't break from looking at it.

24.) 07 Apr 2020 17:15:52
Guys like i said last night not the time to bring politics into things even the political parties agree on that and that only happens in wartime unless your tony blair.
We are all different and come from different backgrounds if your born into poverty, get by, reasonably well off or damn right rich its it not their fault we were born that way but it hasn't stopped people from unprivaleged backgrounds making a mint. sugar and branson just two.

25.) 07 Apr 2020 17:49:32
Fff79 Branson came from money mate, He peddles a myth he came from nothing , but I said last night politics should be ditched at the mo, but SSWE went off on 1, and Ed chipped in as well,

26.) 07 Apr 2020 18:22:10
What did his parents do rub two five pound note together and came up with a perfect ten stevie? 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

27.) 07 Apr 2020 18:58:38
Fff79 how did you guess mate 😊?

28.) 07 Apr 2020 19:13:44
Just a hunch mate.
Imy parents rubbed belly buttons and came up up trumps 🤣🤣🤣.

29.) 07 Apr 2020 19:17:54
Red C politicians are rarely held to account, all you can do is vote against the person that has let you down, in your opinion and hope enough people have done the same to get a change of personnel.

What i hate to see be it in England or America is a leader going to war when their ratings are down.

For Decades MPs have moaned about how little they get paid campared to the private sector yet forget what they also get by being a MP.

They more money by being paid to do speeches, by having their names on letter heads on numerous companies, and by recommendations given by them to give that company a distinct advantage over others when putting their products forward to be used by government departments.

Im sure there are other numerous advantages to being a MP but all they do is keep the rich rich, and keep the NHS, Fire Brigade, Police, and Armed Forces poor unless you manage to reach the very top of those above.
