Do we need Ben Gibson or Scott McKenna? We already have 5 solid CBs at this level. Surely the money being touted for McKenna would be better spent on a striker and pacey winger.

1.) 29 Jul 2019 11:26:46
In a word NO.
But our dof has got a thing about midfielders and defenders.
With Watson as the holding midfielder and relying on grabban as the only striker I'm afraid I fear for us this season.

2.) 29 Jul 2019 13:33:18
We need a left footed centreback. The system we have means our centre backs will be put under pressure. With a right footer on the left side it can cause mistakes. I also think 1 or 2 will be leaving.

3.) 29 Jul 2019 14:01:31
Our defence was woefully exposed in the second half by Real S. Couldn't get near the ball.
I think 2 or 3 of our center backs will be sold before the end of the window.

4.) 29 Jul 2019 14:02:35
Redtree we have one he's called Robinson.

5.) 29 Jul 2019 18:13:42
I think woefully exposed is a bit strong. I thought they did well against a very technical team.

26 Jul 2019 09:29:43
Forest accepted the Osborn deal after some of the add-ons in the initial offer were amended. Presumably Sheff Utd agreed to a higher sell on fee percentage.

1.) 26 Jul 2019 09:51:41
Is that you LC?

2.) 26 Jul 2019 10:27:32
Why would that make the difference? Seems very strange. A higher bid being accepted would be understandable. Something else must have led to them accepting what is basically the same bid?!

3.) 26 Jul 2019 10:46:20
Of course add-ons make a difference.

May be that we get extra fees for the amount of games he plays next season, whether they stay up or not, or could just be an extra few percent on the sell-on fee.

Either way, it is an improved offer and not the same bid.

4.) 26 Jul 2019 11:08:48
"Not significantly raised their valuation of the player" so barely any improvement.

5.) 26 Jul 2019 11:33:05
A bit like Ben then TWF. Barely any improvement.

6.) 26 Jul 2019 12:25:23
Got mucked about by being played out of position at left back. Be interesting to see where Chris Wilder plays him. Or how Forest fare without him.

7.) 26 Jul 2019 13:10:01
Wilder likes players who are able to play in different positions. That's why he's signed Osborn.

8.) 26 Jul 2019 13:32:17
"more money up front and an improvement to potential future sell-on clauses"

So clearly an improvement.

9.) 26 Jul 2019 13:49:34
Judging by Wilders interview of Osborn, he will be used all over the pitch, very much like at forest.

10.) 26 Jul 2019 13:51:46
Undislosed amount on the Osborne sale so all the amounts being shouted about are pure speculation but if the local rag is to believed we turned down 3m but more likely to be arounf 3.5m to 4m but even they don't know definitely or ever will. But if that is correct then not a bad price for someone with 11 months left on his contract. Good luck to him for wanting to play in the Premiership.

11.) 26 Jul 2019 22:42:35
Company accounts will have to show it if it's of major interest, but the lad was going nowhere at forest and to be honest don't think he'll ever be a prem player.
Sheff utd are doing the right thing in getting proven championship players together for their season in the prem knowing full well if it ends in failure they have a squad capable of going straight back up.
Burnley did this and it brings stability to a club financially.

12.) 27 Jul 2019 15:11:26
Who cares? The money received is only as good as the new player coming in!

If it's Bostock then we will have a stronger line-up with him than lightweight Benny O.

People have very short memories. It was under the Breadman that our featherweight midfield of Osborn, Vaughan and McKay kept getting steamrollered.

These days you have be exceptionally gifted and quick of feet and mind to compete if you are small which is where Benny falls short!

13.) 27 Jul 2019 22:24:13
When was the last time you saw bostock play?
Your talking something similar 😁🀣🀣🀣.

23 Jul 2019 11:28:37
Shelf Utd have made an improved offer of 5m for Osborn. Surely now we sell. he's in the last year of his contract. A good lump of money to go towards a new striker.

1.) 23 Jul 2019 11:34:17
Β£5million would be good business. I really can't see Osborn being anything more than a squad player if he stays put.

2.) 23 Jul 2019 11:54:39
If he goes, he gets my thanks for his efforts in the Garibaldi. Best wishes and hope we play the blunts in the PL next season. πŸ‘.

3.) 23 Jul 2019 12:13:54
Best of luck to him, can’t deny him the chance to play in the PL and Β£5million is good business with only 12 months left on his contract. Just hope we spend it on another striker.

4.) 23 Jul 2019 13:08:10
Yes need a new striker even two. Sad to see a home grown player leave as we have so many times in the past!

5.) 23 Jul 2019 13:30:13
Taylor has just tweeted that the deal could be concluded within 24 hours.

01 Jul 2019 20:04:54
Colback had reportedly been released from his contract with Newcastle and Forest are set to sign him.

1.) 01 Jul 2019 20:54:01
No he hasn't.

2.) 01 Jul 2019 20:56:55
I'd be happy with that.

3.) 01 Jul 2019 22:38:24
Has he or has he not? That is the question.

4.) 02 Jul 2019 23:33:59
Colback Boom oo Yata Ta Ta

"Will you meet us in August or will you be gone?
If not we will not love you the same from now on"

Look at me when I'm talking to you it's time to make up your mind!

24 Jun 2019 15:13:54
That's Ameobi confirmed, next Hutton. The purse must be empty.

1.) 24 Jun 2019 15:46:57
Hutton might be off to Hull now Gazza. Apparently they are trying to hijack him?

2.) 24 Jun 2019 16:09:22
Ameobi played very well at Newcastle. If Cash is not up to scratch he would be a good alternative. He's only 27 and cost nothing, my guess is he is on reasonable-sized wages. If anyone can get the best out of him it will be O'Neil. Let's be positive and give him our support.

3.) 24 Jun 2019 20:48:32
Think your getting him mixed up with his brother Shola

4.) 24 Jun 2019 21:07:48
2010-2017 made 57 appearances for Newcastle United. Not many goals but then was not a striker. Got 8 goals for Bolton over last 2 years. Not stunning statistics but my guess is full potential not realised since both Newcastle and Bolton have had severe problems

5.) 24 Jun 2019 21:26:36
Tyler Walker 22 bsered?
Better scoring ratio only five years for us to find out then

6.) 25 Jun 2019 22:26:31
Not convinced by Tyler. Has had some good games for us but lacks body strength and needs a lot of support, certainly not a "lone" striker. Johnson might prove to be better - or not!

I'd drop Watson and Cash today if I were SL. Stick with Jenkinson at RB, Lolley back on the wing and Sow holding mid. Can't wait for Carvalho to be back.

1.) 24 Aug 2019 12:51:56
Think the only game so far that Carvalho would have shone is Birmingham the others would have passed him by.

2.) 24 Aug 2019 13:51:38
Yes Carlo.

3.) 24 Aug 2019 14:41:40
Carvalho the 13 million pound waste of money the world beater in the happy clappers eyes can't wait for him to get on his way to olympiacos oh hold on a minute they don't want him πŸ™„πŸ˜.

4.) 24 Aug 2019 16:04:50
Happy Clappers as in Christian Zealots, Skegsjay? I don't see what religion has to do with football, my duck.

09 Aug 2019 07:10:17
Transfer window round up.
Clearly the players who Forest wanted to move on didn't get good enough offers for permanent moves, so they will be looking for loan moves - same salary but playing games - makes sense the the players personally. For Forest this isn't great but it will get a small percentage of the wage bill paid and let some of the deadwood run down their contracts at other clubs. As they couldn't move players on, the club weren't going to sit by and wait for that to happen until they bought new players in, and that's exactly what they did, and lots of them. What does this tell us? It tells us that SL has assessed the old crop and made the judgement that the large majority of them are either not good enough, or cannot play his style of football effectively enough. So bringing this amount of players in is a big risk as there's no guarantee it'll work, however, SL has no excuses now. he's been given free reign to bring his own players in that he thinks will match his ethos, after having a full pre season. I for one support the club and SL 100% and he will be judged on his decisions at Christmas.

1.) 09 Aug 2019 07:52:09
We really have got some waste of footballers that aren’t interested in playing, Bridcutt, Murphy etc.

2.) 09 Aug 2019 08:02:16
Calm down! calm down! Wow the posters on here really are in a frenzy on about a large squad of players yes we have but what does it matter? we can only play eleven the owner can afford it the manager knows if he don't do the business he is out along with the dof we all have opinions on who is good and bad players but its not just our club look at newcastle just signed andy carroll and is now injured and will be out for 4 weeks.

3.) 09 Aug 2019 09:20:09
What does it matter if we have a bloated squad?
I tell you what read the posts and you will have your answer.
So it's OK if the manager fails and another takes his place? . Bull.
Wake up from you deluded dream.

4.) 09 Aug 2019 11:43:42
Im wide awake thank you fawaz i'm intitled to my opinion that's what this excellent site is for like our manager has to clear out players he don't need so will a new manager do the same that's the game managers know it too.

5.) 09 Aug 2019 16:21:55
I agree what does it matter
The manager will probably pick his nucleus of players out of the whole squad and use them. He won't be coaching all 30 on a day to day basis. As for answers from posters on here, how many are working in the professional football circle so as to be so wise?

06 Aug 2019 12:37:40
Don't fear fellow Reds, we're only 3 points off the top of the league. I'll take that come Christmas!

1.) 06 Aug 2019 12:47:00
Would be lovely if we gave Leeds a good pasting.

2.) 06 Aug 2019 13:03:37
If we apply pressure on there goalie and defence we have a chance that goalie as mistakes in him there shaky playing out from the back we wint stop them scoring we just need to score more theu will come from our new 10 million pound striker πŸ˜‰.

3.) 06 Aug 2019 13:40:05
Dream on. If only.

31 Jul 2019 10:21:19
So much negativity on here surrounding the recruitment of our new players. Yes they're unknown to us, but does that make them bad players? or should we hold judgement and at least give them a chance? From what I've seen of our newest "unkown" recruits, they look like very good signings, certainly not the lightweight continentals bought in under Krankie. I personally think the negativity is born out of nervousness that they will not be up to the challenge, because let's face it, recent history has taught us that in most cases, that's likely to happen. But.

1.) 31 Jul 2019 10:52:29
I think any new signing deserves the full support of their club's supporters to give them the best chance to be a success, so let's stop moaning about if they're going to let us down and start giving them 100% of our support. I for one, very happy with what I've seen from the new players and they certainly have my full support.

2.) 31 Jul 2019 10:55:00
Another season full of nearly a new team and unknowns where as most teams in the championship have kept most of there players together over a couple of seasons and invested wisely by spending on a couple of decent signings to strengthen there team. Team πŸ€”.

3.) 31 Jul 2019 11:22:56
I think we all knew when the managerial change was made, and a manager most had never heard of installed, this would be followed by loans and freebies for the most part from abroad, which we had also never heard of, it looks like a carbon copy of the montanier blue print, all we can do is hope it ends differently, but am finding it difficult to get too enthusiastic,

4.) 31 Jul 2019 11:30:56
Agree skegs, another season where i'm more optimistic than i probably should be. going to lean with experience and keep my mouth shut in the office this time though.

5.) 31 Jul 2019 13:00:59
Stevie f. You mention Montagnier, but I also see many similarities with the beginning of Karankas tenure. Team recruitment for one and the talking also. Not only does he need to "hit the ground running", but he needs to continue apace. I await with bated breath.

6.) 31 Jul 2019 14:22:05
Trouble is Gazza it's been this way for us for a while now. The expectation of the unknowns and loans with the majority of them failing. I agree with wat you say but can understand the negativity surrounding this. We expect to be in the top flight or at least challenging to get there which is fair enuff considering we had a lot of good years there with some exceptional players and teams. But as it has been a while since, we all get desperate to succeed because this long awaited time out is like a prison sentence so the hope every season is can these players do it. Unfortunately with us making a massive boo boo spending nigh on 25 million smackeroonies and bloating the squad to almost exploding with too many players last season, this season maybe we just a bit more desperate. I bet if someone compiled a list of all the players including trialists we have had in the last 20 odd years we'd all be shocked at the incredibly huge list and wudnt remember some of the players we have had. Unfortunately as mentioned a million times Billy Davies got us the closest with a good squad of players and not so many unknown foreign loanees and we played some good football. So I understand your frustration but surely you can understand the negativity and uncertainty from some fans. Will make a point in saying the owners have done a good job in securing 20,000 season ticket holders, so well done to everybody who has purchased one or more.

7.) 31 Jul 2019 14:48:42
Just too point out obviously Paul hart and Harry talk the hind legs off a donkey did well. My statement is aimed more at the frustration overall of being hyped up every season to do well or expecting it only too fail nearly every season.

30 Jul 2019 10:10:56
It's official, Forest have signed Rafa Mir on loan for the season. I'd suggest we reserve judgement on this one. We've signed some pretty decent "unknowns" so far this summer and he could turn out to be a gem, you never know. He's clearly got something about him due to his pedigree.

1.) 30 Jul 2019 10:30:20
Gazza how do you know we've signed some pretty decent unknowns there still unknowns untill at least 10 games in against tough championships clubs I admit some look good but they were pre season friendlys been here before same as the unknown manager we have 10 games in we will start to have some idea it all seems a big gamble with unknown players and manager whether that gets us near top 6 come xmas nobody knows let's keep our fingers crossed whatever happens I'm sure we will all be rooting for them 😁.

2.) 30 Jul 2019 11:00:10
Skegs, If it is unimportant how a unknown player we have got in plays in pre season friendlies why was you asking after the RS game for anyone that went how Silva played.?

3.) 30 Jul 2019 11:46:08
Skegs, I'm no football expert but I know a decent player when I see one and having seen them play live in pre season, I can tell you the likes of silva and samedo are very good signings for this league. They both have qualities that have been lacking for some time in our squad and with Adomah down the other flank, there's also a level of balance to the team that we haven't had in recent seasons. We have threats down each flank and through the middle, it's no longer pass it to lolley and see what he can conjure up.

4.) 30 Jul 2019 11:53:13
Actually lc I was asking how semedo was playing and I didn't say it was unimportant I said we will know more when we're up against tough championships clubs one how consistent they are as shown by carvahallo last season he wasn't 2 whether these young foreign lightweights will be knocked off the ball all to easy 3 if there any good lol all I'm saying is wait till we've been in a good ten matches what's so hard to grasp about that one good thing we haven't blown 13 million on each Lad most of them free or loans so can be sent back anyway we will see 😁 hope that answers all of your questions lc πŸ™„ probably not though but I after get back to work.

5.) 30 Jul 2019 13:02:41
Semedo, Silva, or any of the new signings you asked the question Skegs.

You did not use the word unimportant but by saying it is only after 10 Championship games we will really know that gives the idea you think the friendlies are unimportant as a guide to a players quality.

Have as good day as it is possible at work Skegs.

6.) 30 Jul 2019 13:12:12
Cheers lc and I'm hoping your right gaz like what I've seen of semedo but early days.

7.) 30 Jul 2019 13:46:05
Samedo and silva, can't be compared to Carvalho Skegs. They're much more robust players. Should suit the championship well. Silva is built like Hazard and Samedo is rangey but strong.

Players were all fantastic. Credit needs to go to Lamouchi - he made some brave decisions and they worked a treat. What a result! Now we need to show that we can maintain that level of performance against the smaller teams. If we do, we're serious contenders. We done lads, well done Lamouchi! COME ON YOU REDS!

I'd like to give a mention to Mir also. He showed against the sheep that he can get in to the right areas to score goals. Once he's bagged a goal or two, he'll gain confidence and crack on.

Agreed Rogie. Man City don't loan out their brightest talent without some assurances. Maybe forest have to pay extra for when he's on the bench for example. That said, from what I've seen, he isn't going to be the world class keeper Geudiola thinks he is.
