According to the Talleres president we agreed a 15 million euro deal for Ramon Sosa then changed the agreement. Strange one.

Other irons in the fire?
Obviously want him for less than the asking price?

2.) 10 Aug 2024 10:48:12
If the deal is not in writing, then it's just hearsay. Argentinian President probably saving face with their club's fans.

It's a shame that Aina doesn't want to extend his contract. I suppose we haven't lost owt as we got him on a free and he'll leave on a free. Search for a right back in the summer it is then. But they might cost a few quid.

Where have you heard this Polly?

2.) 07 Feb 2025 20:16:44
It's all over the press Stokie. Doesn't surprise me. The ultimate betrayal. Fist pumps at Pride Park, then get sacked and off to Notts Country to complete the full set.
??.

3.) 07 Feb 2025 20:19:15
He will definitely stay but will cost us, but definitely worth it.

4.) 08 Feb 2025 09:31:13
Why let it bother you "Mr Barraclough? "

5.) 08 Feb 2025 11:27:09
Crossed wires I think Balloons mate, I was referring to Aina rather than Cooper.
I haven’t seen anything about Aina NOT wanting a new contract at Forest merely that contract negotiations were ongoing and I was just enquiring about Pollys sources.

I’d imagine Aina will be holding out for the chance to play European football next season with the added uplift in salary. I’ve always said I don’t think Forest will be in the top 5 this season but desperately hoping I’m wrong. So far we’ve been lucky with injuries and suspensions as we don’t have the resources of the teams around us at the top. I think we need a bit of luck such as Man City’s FFP problems finally catching up with them or Newcastle getting distracted by their Cup Final, both of which are highly unlikely.

As for Steve Cooper I wish him well, even at Derby. I think if he does go there he may well work the miracle of at least keeping them up even though they are cash strapped. He worked a much bigger miracle for us in getting us promoted and there are still a minority on here who don’t recognise that he is an excellent manager who always has to battle the odds dealt him by poor owner decisions.

Nuno was an upgrade but only because he had the advantage of Premiership football with Wolves. His methods are basically the same as SCs but he has much better players to do it with and a pre season to drill them. Plus a final say on incomings and outgoings and a tight well knit squad unlike the bloated numbers of largely mediocre players foisted on him as with SC.

However, it must be said, replacing him at Leicester with Van Nistelroy has clearly turned their season around... Ermmm!

6.) 08 Feb 2025 12:45:12
Mr Barraclough ? is that your new handle Ruby. I like to see you on a prison wing when it kicks off. You'd really calm it down. A retired milk monitor ???.

7.) 08 Feb 2025 16:08:03

8.) 08 Feb 2025 16:17:27

9.) 08 Feb 2025 16:27:13
No wonder your nation as made comedians millionaires ???.

10.) 08 Feb 2025 17:00:11
So Marinakis is a poor owner Stokey?

11.) 08 Feb 2025 17:10:22
Ignore em Fred the Nuno dream is alive ?.

12.) 08 Feb 2025 17:32:59
Cooper will be another wilder a yo yo manager good in championship crap in premier league. nunos bought the team together and gave them hope in the premiership a lot more than cooper will ever do even if he had a Peter Taylor at his side. i really hope he gets the sheep job ????.

13.) 08 Feb 2025 18:33:04
Fred, Mr M is an ambitious owner and, of late, has steadied the ship and made some good decisions. However, he has made some poor decisions in the past which has altered our progress and, at times, made us a laughing stock.
For example, cast your mind back to the 40 ( mostly mediocre ) players he foisted on Cooper or the FFP breach which cost us 4 points and unnecessary pressure on our Premiership status.
Not forgetting the infamous media releases on reffing decisions and ref confrontations in the tunnel.
He’s like the curates egg, mate, good in parts but I think Nuno has indicated strongly how he wants to run the squad and Mr M has trusted him and calmed down a bit. Now he ( and our great club) is reaping the rewards.

14.) 08 Feb 2025 18:51:35
Those "mediocre" players included Elanga, Hudson Odoi, Wood, Awoniyi, Aina, Henderson, Williams, Navas, Felipe, Danilo, Murillo and Aurier.
Martin at Southampton, McKenna at Ipswich and Edwards at Luton would no doubt have snapped their owners hand off for players like that.
Indeed Cooper himself at Leicester would also have.
Now heaven forbid I'm not suggesting it was not a mess with the amount coming in but there was a good core of players among it all which Cooper managed to get a tune out of for a season before it all went South.

15.) 08 Feb 2025 18:54:36
Well put Stokey.

16.) 08 Feb 2025 19:24:40
Agreed stokey, but we've had the run of the green this season. Meaning no harsh refs / var.

17.) 08 Feb 2025 19:53:43
Well said red Fred but think it's wasted truth on some.

18.) 08 Feb 2025 21:22:26
Fred - I think you're splitting hairs. We gained a few good players out of the majority of mediocre players that we signed with our scattergun-approach to recruitment in the past - spending a fortune in the process and falling fowl of FFP. Luck rather than judgement in some of the quality players we now have I suggest.

19.) 08 Feb 2025 21:44:55
Without those signings we'd of been back in the championship, moaning about how we got promoted after 23 years and lasted one season.

20.) 08 Feb 2025 21:46:32
Is that not the same as man utd Chelsea and man city legolas have they not done exactly the same thing over the years that's what you do if you want to compete at the top long may it continue just saying tell me I'm wrong ?.

21.) 08 Feb 2025 21:58:34
No splitting hairs Legolas.
It's come down the Cooper v Nuno debate again.
Here it is in a nutshell in some posters eyes.
Coopers success was down to Cooper.
Nuno's success is down to the players.
Cooper had no say in transfers and had to play who he was given.
Nuno has a say in transfers and gets to choose who comes in.
I know, total nonsense isn't it?

22.) 08 Feb 2025 22:19:25
Fred, mate, Aurier and Felipe were mostly in the physios room and Mr M’s signings also included Turner and Vlach and Muric the worst goalkeepers I’ve ever seen at the CG, Origi, O’ Brien, Santos, Dennis, the Man U and England player who’s name will come to be in a moment, Panzo etc etc. and these are just the players off the top of my head
Their wasted salaries pushed us over FFP and threatened our Prem status. Hardly the actions of a faultless owner I think.

23.) 08 Feb 2025 22:36:30
Fred, I disagree. I don’t think it’s Cooper v Nuno. Both are excellent coaches. It’s just that Nuno has enjoyed several advantages not afforded to Cooper as per my previous comments. Not least Premier League experience and the owners sanction to call the shots on recruitment mate.

24.) 08 Feb 2025 22:44:24
I like your post Fred, but that is not what I'm implying. Nothing to do with the manager - everything to do with recruitment which, sadly, seems to be the preserve of the owner and his servants nowadays at every club with the manager seemingly only having a small influence on this.

Nonsense indeed mate.

25.) 08 Feb 2025 22:47:34
I wonder if Liverpool fans are arguing over the same thing wish would of have had klopp or are we glad we've got slot ?? not like there's much comparison in cooper and klopp but maybe some think there is ??.

Hopefully we draw the woolly backs or the dippers in the next round.

1.) 13 Jan 2025 23:56:37
Long odds about them getting that far.

06 Jan 2025 09:41:16
What will happen if both Forest and Olympiacos qualify for the 'Champions League' due to the ownership rules? I've been told that two clubs owned by the same entity/ owner cannot both play in the same UEFA competition. Is that still a rule or have UEFA altered it?

Pollyard

1.) 06 Jan 2025 11:46:50
That’s a great question Polly. My understanding is that 2 clubs with the same owner cannot play in the same competition and one of them would have to drop down into a different competition. So, for example, in the case of 2 clubs with the same owner in the European Cgampions League, one of them would have to drop into the Europa League or Conference.
As Ed 1, our esteemed editor, is the font of all up to date knowledge on football regs I’d like to refer it to him for the definitive answer.
By the way Ed if that last minute chance had fallen to anyone else on the pitch except Maguire Liverpool would had lost yesterday. I look forward to your thoughts mate.

{Ed001's Note - it depends on how much is owned by said owner. The way a few have got round the regs is simply to divest some of their shares (supposedly). If it is below a certain %age (I forget what it is off the top of my head) then they can both enter the same comp. If not, then one of the teams will be blocked from entry - the one who qualified in the lowest position I believe - and dropped down to a lower comp or out of Europe altogether if it was the Conference League.

Though there are times they let them in - RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg, for example. I am sure it is nothing to do with the millions in corporate sponsorship that Red Bull pay each year though.

Liverpool were awful yesterday, every player had a stinker and United players finally turned up and had their best game of the season. Yet it still finished 2-2 in a close game, which says a lot about the respective quality of the two teams overall.}

2.) 06 Jan 2025 12:38:44
To the best of my knowledge and the fact I've just googled it. they can play in the same competition but not against each other. How that works if they both get to the final. I dunno.

14 Nov 2024 07:58:12
The Nations League is that important to the England players that 9 of them have withdrawn from the squad. Just shows that even the players see it as a complete waste of time and totally unimportant. Not worth risking injury in pointless friendlies.

Pollyard

1.) 14 Nov 2024 16:28:00
No polly, gone are the days of playing for the badge. Since the premier evolved only dollar signs matter to players. Bobby moore bless him RIP would never understand the whole set up. Just wrong football. But its like any computer game. Just can't stop going back to it. And of course quality time etc family and friends at games.

2.) 14 Nov 2024 16:51:38
Probably more due to players putting club before country. Which is the way it should be. A lot of games over the Christmas period and they are prioritising that over pointless matches that lead to a nothing trophy and qualification for tournaments that they already qualify for.

3.) 14 Nov 2024 17:31:13
World cup, european cup. Fa cup, league cup. Still mean a hell of a lot to me polly oh european cup at club level obviously.

4.) 15 Nov 2024 06:09:46
They are all important competitions, Bowie. But this Nations League is pointless.

08 Nov 2024 13:40:10
Good to see our club getting some recognition with Nuno and Wood picking up the awards for the respective categories they were in. No curse, though, please.

Pollyard

1.) 08 Nov 2024 14:16:52
I know mate, it's great to see.

2.) 08 Nov 2024 14:24:52
Nuno Nuno Nuno Nuno woody woody woody ureddssss.

3.) 08 Nov 2024 14:45:51
Bring on Sunday, Newcastle aren’t pulling up any trees yet so far, so good time to play them. I fancy a win. COYRs.

4.) 08 Nov 2024 15:55:11
Let’s just savour the moment comrades whilst we can…….
Nuno Manager of the Month
Woody player of the month
MGW called up to the England squad
Forest in Champions League spot

And …. we’re back in the room….
I think Newcastle on Sunday will be an entirely different proposition to Palace, Leicester and West Ham. A difficult game to be sure. Izack and Gordon are on fire, Joelinton always a handful, Pope is an excellent goalkeeper. Mind you, their defence is a bit ponderous and will always give you a chance. They looked pretty effective against Arsenal from the highlights and comments, although, on the other hand, Arsenal have lost their momentum and they couldn’t beat our 2nd 11 in the Carabao Cup. I’d be very happy to finish off this batch of matches with a draw………. Thoughts?

5.) 08 Nov 2024 16:19:08
Win for me Stokey. Aina will deal with Gordon. Isaak no match for our centre halves. Need the points now, take the draws in the tougher games. ?.

6.) 08 Nov 2024 16:44:08
2-0 Forest.

7.) 08 Nov 2024 16:48:20
Obviously, I would want a win considering it's at home but a point will suffice after the recent run we've had.

8.) 08 Nov 2024 17:12:45
I think we'll get a sneaky 1-0 win Stokey.

9.) 08 Nov 2024 17:38:25
7 nil forest awoniyi with all the goals ??.

10.) 08 Nov 2024 18:27:51
Aren’t we all forgetting that Anthony Taylor is reffing? He must completely hate us …….

11.) 08 Nov 2024 18:33:12
Woody, in a one nil win, they won't like that.

12.) 08 Nov 2024 20:53:39
The Geordies and MBS won't like it, Redsocks, but we will love it.
