Some context required. The club hierarchy has to take action it considers to be best. SP never said he disagreed with the sales, just that in his opinion they shouldn't be sold at that price. He also said that when he asked Fawaz for transfer funds he had not been refused. Let's see what Fawaz says in his statement but when the dust settles the club has raised some cash on terms that allow us the use of JL and KD for another season. Selling them for more elsewhere might not have achieved the loan-back arrangement. As far as Lansbury is concerned he'll do what is best for himself as all players do. SP has said they are talking to his agent about a new contract but if he is desperate for Premier League he won't sign it and we'll be forced to sell to avoid the risk of him leaving for nothing. Harsh financial facts of not getting promoted last season.

1.) He has said that they were sold against his advice and without his knowledge there's not much context to consider tbh.

Totally undermining the manager - again fawaz acting unprofessionally

If their financial situation is as perilous as it appears to be then selling to an under bidder makes no sense and external pressure to achieve the best possible outcome will be prevalent. If Derby are asking for support from other quarters in order to avoid admin then that support may well be contingent upon maximising value from saleable assets. Yes, it will hurt them to sell a prize asset to us but if their situation is as bad as suggested then they may not have a choice if we are the highest bidder.

To be replaced by whom? Someone else to jump on the merry-go-round and leave by the same revolving door in 12-months time? Come on folks, let’s get real. We all crave success but Hughton deserves a proper chance given his promotion record elsewhere. I agree with Rutland in that longer term he may well have limitations but right now he’s a steady hand on the tiller. Let him shape his squad and then judge him but don’t blame him for the here and now!

Silva is no world-beater, Freeman is a more than adequate replacement. Same as Colback will be for Watson once he's played a few more games. No idea about Cafu but if he replaces Samba Sow then it won't be a bad thing as Sow looks no better than a clumsy oaf at the moment. There's no doubt the pressure is on Sabri but hitting the panic button (sack the manager) isn't necessary just yet. The quality of the football is dour but Sabri has been given one mission and one mission only - get the club in the Premier League. Marinakis will be well aware that the rewards for doing so are far more lucrative than anything the Greek Super League can offer - he won't prioritise Olympiacos over Forest.

What if RK was offered the opportunity to replace MON? If he was then perhaps that's why he, understandably, chose to exit stage left and Mendes came up with Lamouchi.

With Collins & Halford available for transfer, Wilson injury prone and Lascelles only here for another season it would take a brave man to sanction the sale of Hobbs. Not impossible but surely unlikely?

{Ed034's Note - Pearce has said he is going nowhere.

Like you I also believe there are reasonable reasons for being optimistic next season. Not least is the fact that we've currently got a manager who is pragmatic and knows this division. He's very aware of what his mission is, let's trust him and back him to deliver the goods. If he's given the freedom to buy (realistically! ) and sell who he wants to then I think we'll have a squad capable of competing at the right end of the table.

The current squad is bloated and needs to be trimmed. The players we had on loan will all hopefully return to their parent club; Adama Diakhaby, Alfa Semedo, Aro Muric (we know this one is already confirmed) and John Bostock. Then there's Liam Bridcutt and Luke Steele that will also be removed from the wage bill as their contracts have expired. I think Hefele, Clough, Pantilimon and Benalouane all have another 12-months left and given their wages the best we can probably do is loan them out if anyone will have them. I'm not convinced that we've got a great deal of scope to spend 'big' from an FFP perspective and with our owner still facing the prospect of punitive action in Greece then I think the sale of a player we'd ideally like to keep is inevitable. This has been the case for the past few seasons (Burke, Brereton, Appiah, Osborn etc) . Recruitment in January 2020 was terrible, the team was crying out for an injection of quality but it never happened. Sabri has little or no say in transfers so any decision to retain him or sack him will have minimal impact on any incomings or outgoings. The season ending in the manner it did means we find ourselves at yet another crossroads but I honestly can't see a major injection of talent unless it's funded by player sales. With Olympiakos perhaps not in a position to take Carvalho off our hands at £10m+ then the departure of Cash and/ or Worrall is probably inevitable and that could be self-defeating as they'll need to be replaced. Time for Mr Anigo to earn his wages. At least we won't have long to find out!

Agreed. Serious lack of creativity; with Silva missing it was surely an opportunity to play Carvalho? Semedo is not up to it, I have no idea what his attributes are - first touch and vision are poor. As ineffective as Carvalho has been he's still got way more to offer than Semedo. Bostock did well when he came on, I agree with you that he should be given a chance if Sow isn't for Friday.
