Amidst all the transfer speculation and the probable departure of one of our big guns I began thinking of transfers, both in and out, which had had the most effect on me. Many sprang to mind over the 70 years but I wondered what deals had caused the most excitement among my fellow Red fanatics. My choice Trevor Francis (In) and Teddy Sheringham (out) . Deals showing the best and worst of BC. Other opinions would be fun.

Redinexile is back?
Cloughie hastily let some good players go. Asa hartford, stan bowles, john sheridan, justin fashinu, gary megson. Some it was attitude and some on closer inspection he just did not rate. The one that puzzles and probably confirmed his and our demise was sherringham. Bought for relative peanuts from millwal should have gone on to be a forest legend.

2.) 18 Aug 2020 11:22:25
Collymore for me, one of the best forwards we have ever had, broke my heart when he went to the Puddle!

3.) 18 Aug 2020 13:30:05
Francis in, and Ian Moore out the 2most memorable ones for me.

4.) 18 Aug 2020 13:44:40
Shilton, for me.

5.) 18 Aug 2020 15:33:01
Joe Baker and John Barnwell for me, Baker in particular.

6.) 18 Aug 2020 18:21:50
Peter Cormack in. Was only 8 or 9 and been impressed with Marinello going to Arsenal but never thought we'd get anybody similar.

7.) 18 Aug 2020 18:51:04
Eugene Daddi, what a player.

8.) 18 Aug 2020 22:45:59
Moore, woodcock, withe, birtles, cormack, baker, sherringham, all great strikers for us but collymore was a standout purely for the fact you could hoof the ball forward and he could and did win games for us on his own.
Ian moore my second favourite, was never a fan of francis, all the above served us better.

9.) 19 Aug 2020 18:45:41
Chris O Grady for me lads - no competition!

10.) 20 Aug 2020 14:31:58
Great response to my previous post and many names that carry huge memories. Apart from the magical Clough/Taylor era the two events that remain large in my Good and Bad files.Good. Standing at Bramall Lane watching Doug Lishman score a hat-trick to clinch promotion to Div 1 in 1957 and Bad. the terrible decision to sell Kevin Campbell this breaking up the best strike pairing in the country and resulting in the dreadful behaviour of Van Hoojidonk in withdrawing his labour. I haven't even mentioned winning the Cup in 1959!!! Great memories as a Red supporter.

What happened to Niasse and Spence?

Redexile

1.) 01 Sep 2021 16:30:21
Spence is awaiting confirmation from the EFL. Rumours on Tw*tter that it'll be announced this evening.

No idea about Niasse. Think it wasjust a late bid that got nowhere.

2.) 01 Sep 2021 18:16:18
Spence now confirmed.

Still no idea about Niasse.

I have been like the kid in the candy store this week! I took delivery of the NEPs Memory Lane and I have been bingeing on 70 years worth of memories both watching
and following the mighty Reds contained in this brilliant publication So many of my heroes and occasions bringing light to these dark times. I still surprise my grandchildren by spouting the 1959 cup winning Reds Team in less than ten seconds. Anyone who hasn't got this publication should do so and start wallowing. Well done NEP.

TuTu - 5th injury in 10 months. What on earth is wrong with our beloved football club. Tony Mowbray was correct in that our team is a hotch potch of young players. Experienced players are needed to get us out of this league. PLUS any young players of genuine quality. CH is not responsible for the players he inherited but is responsible for our style of play. He has not got the players at the moment who are equipped to play any system and if this is not addressed in the next ten days or so we are in real trouble. As I fear will be CH.

When i noticed Tutu, his family must shop at sainsburys had had so many injuries in 10 months i could not believe it, where was the background check of the player.

If you agree with Mowbray how do you explain last seasons 17th place with so many experienced players.

We have to forget the quick fix in order to get into the PL and start with the basics and start doing things properly.

Hughton was responsible for the players that came last jan, how many of them were worth going after.

When a manager has had as long as Hughton has the team should at least be better than when he first joined that has not happened.

How can we know if the players are not capable of playing in any system when Hughton only sticks with one system.

Anyone know of any reliable Forest News site?
I usually check the "News Now" Site. However it's mostly click bait etc?

I remember when one of our ingenious fans had his Garibaldi printed Assombalonganolonga when he was transferred. My advice to CH is to follow that advice. Not the player he was.

Some good players at lower league level worth a punt on. Britts a bit like Grabban these days. One dimensional and no pace. Having said that i thought britt looked quite good against us recently. We need more threat down the middle. sick of seeing the ball out wide with a hopeful punt of a cross. also central mids with quick feet who can get a decent shot off. Garner, yates, cafu and krovinivic need too much time and are very predictable.

2.) 30 Apr 2021 10:19:05
I always get J N R on my shirts, no use getting present day players because they are not of around long enough for it to be worth while.

3.) 30 Apr 2021 11:12:25
You mean can't be arsed Rutland?

4.) 30 Apr 2021 11:37:11
I just get "GOD KNOWS? " on mine.
🤭🤭🤭.

{Ed001's Note - did you ever see that shirt this season? Someone ordered one for his kid with his surname and a number on the back. Just after ordering he realised he had asked for the wrong number and the kid was actually 14 that year, so he phoned up and asked if he could change it to 14 instead. When the shirt turned up it came with the number 14 but the name above it read: I N S T E A D.}

5.) 30 Apr 2021 11:51:01
😂😂😂 class ED/ rogie.

6.) 30 Apr 2021 11:55:10
Brilliant Ed!

{Ed001's Note - it's true as well, that's the best bit.}

7.) 30 Apr 2021 12:40:06
Ed my surname begins McK. When in the bank i went to the counter and asked to see the manager. I was asked to spell my surname as it is unusual and difficult to pronounce. I started M small c. K.
When the manager came out he said is there a mr small sea waiting to see me? Gospel ed😂😂😂.

{Ed001's Note - brilliant. You really should have used that as your name on here, Mr Small Sea is a fantastic name.}

8.) 30 Apr 2021 13:11:25
I will never forget baddiel and skinner 3 lions, world cup. Stefan kuntz used to play for Germany. Course guess whos name was on the back of the 11 Germans they had lined up 😂😂used to love that show.

{Ed001's Note - I swear the commentator only ever referred to him as 'The German Kuntz' during that tournament.}

9.) 30 Apr 2021 13:13:14
I think he plays for the sheep now 🤫.

10.) 30 Apr 2021 14:08:03
ED what's happened to shows like that on the normal mainstream. Statto 😂 loved him. Probably wouldn't get away with that humour these days.

{Ed001's Note - there are still the odd good one around, Young Offenders for example.}

11.) 30 Apr 2021 15:36:23
Julien "Dicks"
😂😂😂.

12.) 30 Apr 2021 17:55:36
Hahahaha rogie 😂 took me a while but got there.

Without question CH football is uninspiring. We need a different approach but we need some stability and I have no obvious and possible alternatives to preventing another merry go round of managers who may be no better. CH must be given a chance with his choice of players coming in. I know it's not a perfect answer but neither is appointing another poor manager. I would like to judge BY position a few games into next season having seen his updated squad. At least we are still in the Championship.

After the money is spent redexile?

2.) 22 Apr 2021 15:59:25
Krovinovic, Knockeart, Murray, all of the managers choosing. How have they been getting on. We need a different approach but it is not in the managers footballing DNA to take a different approach.

Stability is great when you can see progress but uninspiring football and being in eighteenth after thirty eight games in in no way progress.

There is no point in keeping the manager, bringing in yet more players like Krovinovic, Knockeart, and Murray then sacking him after a few games.

Sack him now.

3.) 22 Apr 2021 18:23:57
A good point Bowiered but we have to trust in him surprising us plus three or four young players like Johnson and Gabriel.Fingers well and truly crossed.

4.) 22 Apr 2021 20:07:53
Redexile mate. i know where your coming from . What worries a lot on here though . he brings his players in (favourites) now let's not hide this he doesnt. Next manager stuck with them. The merry go round turns again.

I agree with GazzaRed.Samba was faultless on Saturday and actually caught a number of high balls as well as a couple of high balls. Lumley addition seems pointless and does anyone know what gives with Diallo who came with a decent reputation and hasn't been heard of since.

I hate this constant change ofmanagers like many others but WHAT is the point of rubbishibg the new manbefore he has parked his car. I don't care how he plays if he improves the team and saves us from relegation.

When the window closes and we have added three more decent players. What would be the point in not giving CH the chance to succeed. Back to square one with a new manager who knows none of the squad is IMO pointless.

Well said bsered. Absolutely no point in replacing BY until he has worked with team post transfer completion. If anyone can think of a top manager who would definitely take on the little wanted job then I might have a rethink but for now it's Carry on Chris and good luck.
