French journalist Emery Taisne claims that Josh Maja didn't sign because he failed a medical at the City Ground.

Reoccurring back problem. Well done Forest if this is true.

about time we stopped signing sick notes.

From Nottingham Forest News:

"Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks to sign Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence, according to James Olley from ESPN. The Reds are frantically trying to get a deal over the line ahead of the deadline later this evening. ".

What happened?

2.) 01 Sep 2021 16:15:29
Looks like we were late with the paperwork again.

3.) 01 Sep 2021 17:16:12
Announced on the official site that he has joined.

4.) 01 Sep 2021 18:34:07
Yep, season loan, that gives us good cover.

From Nottingham Forest News:

"Nottingham Forest are making a late push to sign Lille midfielder Cheikh Niasse. Get French Football News claim that the player is set to join on loan, with a future fee of £8.5 million agreed. ".

From Football League World:

"Nottingham Forest have made a late move for West Ham United attacker Xande Silva before the transfer window closes at 11pm, sources have exclusively told Football League World.

The 24-year-old Portuguese forward is the subject of transfer talks between the two clubs in what would be a permanent deal to take him to the City Ground after three years at the London outfit. ".

He refused to go to one club as he wants to stay in Britain, that gives us a better chance of signing him.

2.) 31 Aug 2021 20:13:32
Instead of Maja!?

3.) 31 Aug 2021 20:35:11
Another useless signing of pure desperation.

4.) 31 Aug 2021 21:06:48
Maja had a better offer elsewhere.
Who would want to come to a Circus outfit?

5.) 31 Aug 2021 21:26:01
An offer on Maja was never made, was only a rumour even tho he had been scouted by forest.

6.) 31 Aug 2021 21:41:32
We will never know if it was true or not.
Forest is the Monty Python of Football.

I saw the following on Football League World:

"Paraguayan midfielder Braian Ojeda is said to be on his way to the City Ground from Olimpia, penning a four-year deal on Trentside.

But we could also see one or two others arrive at the City Ground, with Hughton looking to add an attacking option to his squad.

Full-backs are needed, too, so it could be a busy end to the window for Forest. ".

We only need a left back. We have 4 right backs already!

As other people have said, Lowe isn't worth £5 million, Davis isn't worth £15 million and Spence isn't worth £20 million. Those prices are simply extortionate and Forest are correct in not paying them because it would give every other selling club the idea that Forest are willing to pay over the odds and that's not a situation we want. The club is absolutely right in looking elsewhere. It's a shame though as it would be brilliant to get Spence and Davis back.

Zinckernagel is a superb player at Championship level but probably not what we need for the Prem unless as a backup option, but it wouldn't be in his interest to accept that, so it is best for all parties if he goes elsewhere (Olympiacos? ) . I don't think that Lowe is good enough for the Prem either and he gets injured far too often.

I dread to think what price tag United would put on Garner, but it would almost certainly be beyond anything Forest would be willing to pay for a single player, so the only hope there is to get him back on loan. This would suit all parties but nothing much has been said in public about it as far as I'm aware. It would be good for Forest and good for Garner's development as a player, with first team football almost guaranteed. And United would have a better and more experienced player at the end of it. It seems silly to ignore all that and leave him to sit on the bench at Old Trafford.

@RedCyclist

Apparently I need to point out to you the very obvious fallacy of yours that no one can have a valid opinion on a player unless he is Cooper or Klopp.

Of course Klopp really liked the guy. That's why he didn't pick him for the first team, not even once and not even when work permit issues were settled.

And no I wasn't pissed off about any of those other players because none of them cost £17 million.

The statistics on Awoniyi that I posted can easily be verified by a Google search. I really hope I'm proving wrong but the statistics are there for all to see.

I really hope that I will be proven wrong and that he justifies the enormous £17 million price that people are talking about. He's still only 24 but I would advise caution about paying that much for him and I can't help but think that better could be obtained for that kind of money.

He started at Liverpool but never played for the first team. He was farmed out on loan to various medium-sized teams on the continent without achieving anything of note. He then moved to FSV Mainz 05 on loan, where he scored 1 goal in 12 appearances and then on loan to Union Berlin in the season before last, where he scored 5 in 21 appearances. He's had 4 caps for Nigeria.

However he was signed permanently by Union Berlin and in this season that has just finished, he scored 15 out of 31 appearances in the Bundesliga, which is excellent. But the enormous price tag seems to be based solely on this season alone. Lots of players have one good season.

I really genuinely hope that I'm proven wrong but I can't say that I'm overly optimistic about that.

I read somewhere that Arter was on £20,000 a week, but this is still £19,999 more than he is worth.

@TWF

I agree mate. I've never felt so down about Forest. Even in League One I was more optimistic about the future than this. I just can't see anything getting better over the next couple of years.

Any new manager is going to face the same problems as CH i. e. rubbish players and no money to spend. Perhaps a new manager could do a little bit better than CH (perhaps mid-table), but unless he's a miracle-worker, the play-offs (or better) will be a distant dream.
