Just one for Winter - I admire the way that you stand your ground when 3 other regular posters seem intent on deriding you on here. I find it all a bit sad that there are other so-called Forest supporters who seem more intent on slagging-off other fans than supporting their own team.

You just keep doing what you're doing Winter mate. I'll await the invite for Mrs L and myself to attend your housewarming. We'll bring copious amounts of 'Cornish Meal Pods' and maybe a few contraband tangerines for you.

1.) 20 May 2026 22:44:17
Well said, Lego!!

2.) 20 May 2026 23:22:40
Cheers, Lego, mate. I'm good for tangerines though, living abroad makes them fairly easy to get hold of. Pasties and Rattler, did you know, as a combination, they make the world go around.
And, honestly, mate, don't worry about sticking up for me. I don't worry what these Northern Janners think. Most head down your way this time of year anyway, bleedy Emmets. ? ?

3.) 20 May 2026 23:24:37
Thanks, McGovern. Good to see you back on here, my friend.

4.) 21 May 2026 19:15:20
Great stuff, Lego. I know what you mean about the Cornish "living abroad" like RRH. I have lived amongst a tribe called "The Potter People" for several years now. I have, I think, been finally accepted. Their language has taken me a long time to learn. The first time I heard the phrase "Kick a bo agin a wo and head it till yer bost it" I thought it was a pagan incantation. Words like "Senneytucked" and "Sneaped" were worrying.

They have a strong worship of clay objects called "pots" or "whimseys" and venerate their mythical god "Wedgewood". I have noticed also a veneration of primitive route one football, which is regrettable. Their written word, mainly Arnold Bennett, is not a patch on our Byron, D.H. Lawrence or Alan Sillitoe, but still decipherable...
But, once you get used to their ways, they can be very welcoming. ????

5.) 21 May 2026 20:47:25
As a footnote, their tribal dance is much more violent than ours, led by the high priests Lemmy and Slash, whereas we are led by the more anodyne and reflective Bugg and Paper Lace. ???

6.) 21 May 2026 21:34:30
Back on here saying what, Lego?
Nothing about Forest?

7.) 22 May 2026 09:49:08
DTP, to paraphrase the great West Indian Marxist cricket writer CLR James... "What does he know of Forest, who only Forest knows?"...

I hope that you don't mind 'mentioning the unmentionable' - but I wonder how many of you are sharing my thoughts, wishing that we didn't have the extra European games to face vs Villa. Given our circumstances in the PL and threadbare squad, frankly I think it's a distraction we could do without.

I think we've done surprisingly well to get to the semi's.

Progress into the finals would be amazing - however, we would need to field the majority of our 1st team to stand a chance against Villa over 2 legs (excuse the pun). Personally, I think that the inevitable fatigue and injuries would jeopardise our PL future. Time to draw a line under our European adventure and field our 2nd team?

Legolas

1.) 25 Apr 2026 21:08:05
We'll win it, qualify for Champions League. Lego. No chance of us going down anyway.

2.) 25 Apr 2026 21:44:16
Today's results, unfortunately, mean we will have to rein in our Europa hopes in terms of team selection. I think, had Spurs lost, then 8 points plus goal difference clear, with 12 to play for, would have given us a bit more scope.

As it is, like I said in a previous tedious post, the Europa is a bit like Murat's capture of Vienna a week or so before Austerlitz. A glittering prize, but ultimately irrelevant in relation to the big battle.

3.) 25 Apr 2026 22:07:09
Why worry, their remaining fixtures say they aren't capable of catching us.
And we have to lose 3 anyway.
That's a massive ask, and we are the form team.

4.) 25 Apr 2026 22:09:35
Sorry fuve still not hapoening.

5.) 25 Apr 2026 22:09:07
DTP - I love your optimism mate, but I'm not convinced. Stokey - I think that's a very fair appraisal. Tedious, as usual from you, but I share your views on this my friend.

6.) 25 Apr 2026 22:30:34
We aren't going down.
Tedious?
No, just positive and why I renewed my season card before the Sunderland game.
You either believe or you don't.
Facts are right in front of you, and we hammered Sunderland last night.
I'd be seriously worried if I was a Spurs fan.

7.) 26 Apr 2026 07:06:01
DTP, it's a four horse race for relegation, unfortunately.
Forest have the less favourable games to play.
Would you rather throw all the eggs into one basket, ie Premiership survival, or gamble for a place in the European final?
We're not in a position to fulfil both, unfortunately.

8.) 26 Apr 2026 07:10:38
DTP, love your enthusiasm, and I hope you are right.
If VP plays Jesus and Wood together, we stand a chance; however, we're not safe yet.
I really hope Spurs go down, that would be fantastic.

9.) 26 Apr 2026 08:20:08
The only change from before our thumping of Sunderland was that we improved our goal difference by 4.
I expected Spurs to beat Wolves, but they made hard work of it (and lost Solanke and Simons to injury).

I was disappointed that Everton lost. I anticipated at least a point apiece.
Late goals and fine margins.
I think VP is going to have to magic at least one more win (or a few draws) to set our minds at rest.

10.) 26 Apr 2026 08:26:20
He will definitely need to pull a rabbit ? out.
If he plays Jesus and Wood going forward, I believe that is the equation for the last few games.

11.) 26 Apr 2026 09:00:03
I can see Villa concentrate on winning the UEFA, which could leave Tottenham with a good chance of beating Villa in between our 2 games against us, because I can see Villa putting a weakened side out against them. And, DTP, I wasn't particularly worried about going down after the last few games until you threw your prediction in.

Until we have the points on the board that say we're stopping up, I ain't predicting nothing; this is Forest after all.

12.) 26 Apr 2026 10:16:36
You may well be right, Skegs. Villa are 8 points clear in 5th place (a Champions League spot) with 12 points to play for. They are comfortable and can afford to go for it against us.
Red in Ripley, again, you are right about us having the most difficult run in.

Rule of thumb, but our remaining fixtures average out at our combined opponents league position of 8th.
Spurs 10th.
West Ham 10th.
Leeds 15th ie the easiest.

13.) 26 Apr 2026 10:36:42
Having seen the West Ham highlights, I should have said late goals, fine margins and Stuart Atwell (again) not giving (or VAR even reviewing) a nailed-on Everton penalty.
Is Operation "Save the big London Clubs" now in full swing?

14.) 26 Apr 2026 21:53:28
We are looking after business ourselves, Stokey.
And that's the important bit.
Football is played on grass, not on paper.
Pundits all got Sunderland v Forest wrong by miles.

I've enjoyed reading your post-game thoughts tonight Reds. Unless I've missed it, I'm also looking forward to reading the match analysis by Chim - the new Creepy!

There is something that I picked up on that I haven't read so far though. Passion. That trait, combined with controlled-aggression in our midfield, I think allowed us to control the show and psyche Spurs out.

Do you remember Sangare and Anderson in a close huddle against two Spurs players with everyone fighting hard to get the ball? Sangare and Anderson were almost tackling each other to keep Forest in possession. I haven't seen passion like that for a while from a Forest team.

Keep this up and we'll be OK.

Hola Reds! Legolas reporting in from Barcelona.

I have to say that I hope this is now the 'beginning of the end' of our ill prepared venture into Europe again.

I like the saying 'Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail'. This seems to have become the Forest way over the last few years.

Anyway - back to my Tapas and white wine now. Take care all and here's to the hope of our PL survival.

Legolas

1.) 13 Mar 2026 11:23:43
My brother lives in the old town in Barca. Enjoy your break, mate.

2.) 13 Mar 2026 13:21:43
It's a great place to be, Lego. Will your legs get you to the top of the Sagrada Familia? I think it's completed this year. Took around 70 years to build, didn't it? The view is tremendous.

I don't know if they managed to factor in disabled access?
Did you manage to pass on Professor Brian Cox's starry night sky observations to Mrs Legolas? Was she impressed or comatose? ? ? ?

Evening Reds. I just want to say that I'm sure along with you all, I'm really glad that Bowie has decided to stay on the site. Despite personally experiencing his wrath directed at me when I first joined the site (!), I've always admired Bowie's passion and knowledge.

I have called him 'The Daddy' of this site before for a good reason.

Keep those 'and so ta bed' posts coming Bowie.

Legolas

1.) 07 Mar 2026 19:43:20
I am too, as I've said before, Bowie, you keep reminding us to "Cherish the ones around you"....
None of us are perfect. You wore your heart on your sleeve, mate, something to be greatly admired.

2.) 07 Mar 2026 19:46:51
Who's the mammy of the site, Stokie. ?? He helps us all to sleep with his bedtime stories of history.

3.) 07 Mar 2026 21:39:51
Now then, my Geordie boy, what's this nonsense about you leaving the office? Can't have this, not at this time, especially when DTP is due out of rehab. I appreciate that you're in a dark place, but daylight follows night. I was watching Get Carter the other night, and the scene where Jack goes into the pub after his train journey from London and asks for a pint in a thin glass, and the look on the hard-working men's faces was a picture.

I've never met you, yet I know you. You could have been in that pub quite easily, even the working men's club where the singer gets a battering. Priceless, just like you.

4.) 07 Mar 2026 21:23:23
Sorry Skegs, but I've just had an involuntary thought that's popped into my head about you suckling on one of Stokey's breasts.

I'll be getting heavier medication on Monday.

5.) 07 Mar 2026 22:01:32
Oddly enough, Vale, the book on which the film Get Carter was based (by Ted Lewis) was set in Sheffield and moved to Newcastle in the movie. It's a gritty read.
I think, Skeggs and Lego, it's way past both your bedtimes. You'll both be on the naughty step tomorrow. ??????

6.) 07 Mar 2026 22:12:30
Luv ya all, bless, cannot thank you all enough for the great gestures. But need to sort my head out, take care all of ya. Unbelievable family Reds FTID.

7.) 07 Mar 2026 22:14:48
I'll ask Mrs Legolas to chastise me physically tonight for my comments.

I wish.

8.) 07 Mar 2026 22:06:08
Yes lego mate. maybe you've had too many hits to the head in your wheelchair rugby pal. ?

9.) 07 Mar 2026 22:42:21
Didn't know that Stokey, but it does make sense comparing the two cities. Both are industrial and downtrodden, with workers governed by the factory owners who exploited them for their own means.

10.) 07 Mar 2026 22:40:10
You're probably right Skegs. Certainly too many broken ribs as well. Nasty boys sport.

I do love beating-up disabled people though.

11.) 08 Mar 2026 09:10:08
Getting back to your post about Bowie Red Vale, he might well have been in that pub in Get Carter, but you'd never have found him! ?? The Geordie G-spot.

12.) 08 Mar 2026 11:33:35
Vale, the subtle differences between the book and the film are interesting. For example, in the film Carter famously throws Cliff Brumby off a multi-storey car park ("you're a big man but you're out of condition. For me, it's a full time job. Now behave yourself"). In the book Carter chases Brumby round a car park in his car until he's exhausted, then executes him with a shotgun from the boot if I remember correctly.
Sheffield is never mentioned by name in the book, just clues like the rival football teams play in red and white and blue and white, etc.

In the film Carter is shot by a sniper on a beach and his body left on a seaward-bound coal conveyor. In the book, he's left badly wounded, but his death isn't confirmed, leaving the way for a sequel.
Interesting man Ted Lewis. Died in his 40s from alcohol issues just as he was hitting his stride in films and books.

I don't know about you, Stevie, but I think Stokey served his country in a way many Veterans could not have done. I admire him for that.

I can't imagine myself, or most of the other Veterans that I know, having the balanced-view, tolerance, and cool-headed nature that Coppers are expected to have nowadays.

Personally, I couldn't have done it.

Just for a bit of fun Stokey - I'll put in a bit of ex-Int Corps banter about each of your seven:

Royal Marines - great soldiers with a superb sense of dry humour. Slightly gay with a tendency to dress in women's clothing at any opportunity.
Parachute Regiment - great soldiers yet with no sense of humour, which has been buried due to their own arrogance. Wilt into the background when you explain that you have done parachuting too and then beat them in a BFT run.
Foresters - who.cares? Always an also-ran Rgt.
Submariners - even more gay than the Royals. Always smell very strange after 6 months submerged on a nuke sub with the weird stuff they put into the Aircon system.
RMP - universally hated throughout the Army. Mostly failed civvy police recruits. Usually billeted with the Int Corps for their own protection.
Navy radio operator - more civvy than a civvy.
Welsh Guards - brilliant at drill but rubbish soldiers in the field. Mostly foul-mouthed morons from the Valleys who would otherwise be stealing off their Mums.

C'mon Stokey - take the p*** out of the Royals as all the Squaddies do! I served alongside them in NI and 'elsewhere'. Without doubt, top quality soldiers who I really respected but a bit too much in touch with their 'feminine side' for my liking! Very 'touchy-feely' which I never felt comfortable with.

Wasn't it the Borat comedy sketch where he said Marines are just like the Army, but gay.

I'd hate to see Murillo go - but my gut feeling is that if an offer came in around £70-80M, and he wanted to go, Big M would let him go.
