Manager rumour: In spite of rumours suggesting Marco Silva is wanted by Marinakis, he is set to reject Nottingham Forest and is in talks to take over at Benfica as Jose Mourinho's replacement.
Forest really missed a trick when they appointed Ange instead of Mourinho when he was interested.
No idea why Marinakis would want to replace our boss, but hopefully it's just hot air designed to ensure VP doesn't ask for too much money. Agents and clubs play some funny games, folks.
1.) 15 May 2026 19:33:17
Morinho would never have come to us for 3 reasons mate
Firstly, he would have wanted total control over every aspect of the club, complete anathema to our owner.
Secondly, as an elite manager he only runs elite clubs ie Champions League at the very least
Thirdly, he's not mentally ill .????
2.) 15 May 2026 20:10:16
Mourinho wasn't at a bigger club when he was interested.
3.) 15 May 2026 20:11:06
Don't forget, there are only 13 clubs on Earth with more valuable squads. We are an elite club. We have to play and act like it now.
4.) 15 May 2026 21:57:41
Maurinho is a fraud, end of.
5.) 16 May 2026 09:55:43
I read last night that Mr M is preparing a new long term contract for VP. ?
6.) 16 May 2026 10:49:18
Cyclist, it pains me to say this, mate, but Forest do not look like or show the characteristics of a big club. It's not comparing like for like with us and Benfica. They are a big fish in a smaller pool. Overtaken by Porto, they are to the Portuguese like Man Utd are to the UK. Fallen on comparatively hard times (but recently recovering under Carrick). Spurs are another big club but have fallen off a cliff recently, likewise Chelsea.
Dont get me wrong, Forest have punched way way above their weight historically and recently but they dont, atm, exhibit the characteristics of a big club imo.
Firstly, and obviously, we dont have a big stadium and a general overall big income.
Secondly, our budget for new players and our turnover is a fraction of the big 4 or 5z.
Thirdly, we don't employ "super managers" who have the final say in everything like Pep at Man City, Arteta at Arsenal, and, yes, Mourinho at wherever he goes.
Lastly, big clubs are generally very well run and don't get through 4 managers a season. Performance wise, we have struggled in 3 of the 4 seasons since promotion and are a byword for instability.
I'd argue that the Aston Villa's of this world are way ahead of us on the road to becoming a big club and even the Brentford's and Bournemouth's, with their tiny resources, are steaming ahead.
7.) 17 May 2026 21:55:50
When Mourinho was interested, he was at a smaller club than us and we hadn't just had 4 managers in a season.
??
8.) 19 May 2026 10:17:33
Cyclist, I guess we will just have to add Jose Mourinho to the list of the lost greats such as Gareth Bale and Guy Whittingham, won't we?. ??????

RUMOUR:
Dyche is out if we lose the next game. Cooper could replace him. I'm not making his rumour up. The mind boggles.
1.) 10 Feb 2026 19:00:27
That actually hilarious, the managerial crazy train rolls into town. ??.
2.) 11 Feb 2026 21:49:19
Every cloud has a Silva lining.
3.) 11 Feb 2026 21:56:37
Dyche said the squad has unity. They are united, they all know he's toast!
31 Jan 2026 05:42:54
Frattesi incoming.
1.) 31 Jan 2026 12:19:51
Great signing if we pull it off.
2.) 01 Feb 2026 22:49:27
So was luiz?
Its how they fit that matters?
3.) 02 Feb 2026 21:05:24
Liverpool screwed up the deal. A bit annoying.
19 Jan 2026 02:23:59
RUMOUR:
Forest have agreed a deal in principle to sign Lorenzo Lucca from Napoli. Apparently it is a loan with option to buy deal.
He has doubts and other Italian clubs are interested.
1.) 19 Jan 2026 07:11:04
If he asks Silenzi, any douths will be settled ?.
2.) 19 Jan 2026 10:24:51
There’s been a ‘breakthrough in last few hours’. According to Radio Marte, the player is open to moving to the City Ground in January.
Therefore, Dyche’s side have accelerated their efforts to finalise the deal for the attacker on loan with an option to buy set at €35m. If there are no last-minute setbacks, Lucca will play in the Premier League.
3.) 19 Jan 2026 10:25:29
Rai Sport journalist and Napoli expert Ciro Venerato also reports the player would be on his way to the English club, related by Area Napoli.
He says the Italian is ‘ready to say yes’ to Nottingham Forest, after rejecting Benfica, Pisa and a move to Saudi Arabia.
4.) 19 Jan 2026 13:26:49
It looks like my prediction (below) on the 5th January was bang on. Mystic Cyclist ?
Educated guess if I'm honest. He was struggling for game time and Napoli wanted to offload him. Dyche likes a big boy and Lucca is a giant.
5.) 19 Jan 2026 18:15:19
A goal every fourth game in senior football, thanks but no thanks.
CARLO.
6.) 19 Jan 2026 21:18:12
News now anyone can read cyclist, they get more wrong than right though.
7.) 20 Jan 2026 00:55:15
Yes it's news now. I didn't predict it now. Are you sure you can read? ?.
8.) 20 Jan 2026 08:30:38
DTP mate, this is the "rumours" section, Cyclist is using its function correctly, are you? ?.
9.) 20 Jan 2026 11:18:40
Not sure if it's a tactic to get a better deal by Lucca, but it seems he will only leave Italy kicking and screaming, we need someone up to speed straight away, not someone mopping around the training centre missing home.
10.) 20 Jan 2026 13:10:55
Reading an article on my lunch break from the Corriere dello Sport, Luca doesn't speak a word of English and it could be an issue regarding his final decision. ?.
11.) 20 Jan 2026 16:08:14
Boly came back from Afcon injured so can't see the transfer to west ham what was being considered, Boly could be useful as interpreter for Lucca, if he comes?.
12.) 20 Jan 2026 22:28:24
Lucca looks like the big barstool we need for Dyche's long ball 80s footy, but if he has his doubts then is it worth it?
The recruitment team have tried. Give him a date to make his mind up by and get negotiating with other players/ agents.
13.) 21 Jan 2026 11:52:57
Cyclist “Dyches long ball 80’s football”? Not again, thought I’d put that to bed, where I’m off to now ????????.
14.) 21 Jan 2026 13:42:07
Dinobot. Get out of relegation, hoof it up and hope. Get a giant up front and whack it to him. Any Sunday league boss could do that. You just need a fitness coach and a dead ball coach and let my Mum do the tactics. ??.
15.) 21 Jan 2026 18:07:28
Do you actually watch any Reds games Cyclist?
Or you just believe the propaganda? Genuine question mate …….
16.) 22 Jan 2026 16:39:54
@Stokey ? Landed a catch. ?
It looks like the Lucca deal is over the line (s'cuse the pun).
Ornstein and other sources are saying it will probably be conformed tomorrow. Loan fee of £1M.
Stokey will be pleased. We have a big lump up front for his favourite tactical genius mans approach. We can wack the ball in the genral direction of the box and hope we score. It worked for Wimbledon so. ?.
17 Jan 2026 02:36:42
RUMOUR: Glasner to leave palace this summer and on the shortlist to replace Dyche at Forest.
1.) 17 Jan 2026 05:36:41
This was all set up until Mendes interfered, and his client Nuno was employed, turned out alright, but wonder what could have been with Glasner?.
2.) 17 Jan 2026 11:50:40
Cyclist, in a recent post to Ed 1 I did predict that Palace would be dragged into the relegation scrap if they lost more key players ( like Eze) and I mentioned Wharton and Guehi by name. The fact that Glasner, an excellent manager, has now stated he is off in the summer is an additional bonus for us.
However, I think he would rather nail his own gonads to a wooden fence than work for an “erratic” owner like ours. Besides which, there will be no vacancy to fill……. ?? ?.
3.) 17 Jan 2026 13:38:19
I’ll be amazed if Dyche is still manager in August, I don’t think he fits marinakis ambitions for the club, whether you believe them realistic or not, I think he is a stop gap, nothing more, glasner Will almost certainly have bigger opportunities than here though.

Ok Trickies, a bit of outside the club analysis not based on rumours.
Let's say we might have to sell one of our core "best players" to fund a new striker and avoid PSR rules. Not interested in the "we MUST keep our best players" thing. I mean if we absolutely HAVE TO sell one of them.
Murillo
One of the best ball playing left-sided CBs in world football. The kind of player who makes the difference between a solid back line and a world-class one.
Anderson
International standard player going to the World Cup.
Gibbs-White
One of the best industrious goal scoring attacking midfielders in the league. Would likely cost as much as we get to replace him.
Pros and cons as I see it are. MGW and Ando would make a lot less money for the club as they weren't actually that cheap to sign. Murillo cost peanuts so would be nearly all profit. Financially, the sale of Murillo makes a lot of sense.
Replaceability?
We can't buy a replacement for Murillo of the same level but could get a very good left-sided CB. Anderson is not irreplaceable, but really important player. A player who can score the same number of goals/assists as MGW would cost £100M unless we're lucky. MGW, is our main man and
What the players want?
Anderson might want out, based on the number of stories (although it could be other clubs seeding the stories to unsettle him. I think Murillo would stay to play every week but is likely to be open to playing for a European elite club. Same for MGW in my opinion.
My opinion
If Anderson and MGW can be persuaded to stay then it makes financial sense to replace Murillo and make a bigger profit.
Selling Murillo for 75M would bring in more money than £100M for Anderson or MGW due to their higher fees and both Anderson and MGW would cost more to replace. Spend the profit on a striker.
1.) 22 May 2026 13:08:42
As you said, mate, Murillo is irreplaceable, MGW can definitely be described as the same. That leaves Anderson, unfortunately, imo, great player, who is only going to get better. But if one has to go he's the one who can be replaced.
Just look at Xhaka up at Sunderland, if he could learn to calm down on the ball maybe we have a ready-made replacement already in our Club Captain. ?
2.) 22 May 2026 13:35:48
Excellent post, RedCyclist. I suppose the question is how much the club needs to find regarding PSR. Unfortunately, I think Anderson will go, especially if he has a good World Cup. But, looking at the squad, I’m not convinced. MGW might stay, but can be replaced. Murillo would be a great loss, but he hasn’t made the Brazilian team, so he is not in the international shop window.
But, let’s look at the other players who could make the money for us. Moratto, Sangare and even Awoniyi have been mentioned as having offers made, and also Ndoye. But, in reality, if they want to go, then sell them. I don’t want to see a repeat of the MGW shambles of last season. It took him till Xmas to get his head back into the game.
3.) 22 May 2026 14:44:04
You have to consider what the player cost vs what they sell for too.
Sangare cost £30M, so we'd have to get £80M to make £50.
Morato cost £5M, what are we going to make?
Awoniyi cost over £20M, didn't he?
I don't think we are forced to sell one of the big 3.
I think, if we want to spend big on a striker, then we will have to. Just an educated hunch. Wood is getting on, and we need another striker, and they aren't cheap.
4.) 22 May 2026 15:38:01
Yes, Cyclist, didn't look at it that way. I agree, selling Murillo would make sense and give us the maximum profit. It's just finding a replacement. Then there is the Wood situation, been out for a large chunk of the season, and he's not getting any younger. Either way, it's going to cost. Just hope VP has replacements ready to go. Good post, Cyclist.
5.) 22 May 2026 16:47:48
Take into account the depreciation on the players. A 30mil signing on a 5 year deal loses 6mil value a year on our books. If we get 30mil for said player in his last year, it would equate to a 24mil profit on the books.
Sure, I'm right, but someone with a few more brain cells may correct me.
6.) 22 May 2026 19:39:41
Just looked it up: between EUR18.3 million and EUR20.0 million, so £15-17. Bargain. ?
7.) 22 May 2026 19:36:51
Realistically how much would a 30 year old Ivan Toney cost? I'd forget all about him playing out in the Saudi backwaters. Definitely worth consideration. ?
8.) 22 May 2026 20:11:04
A king's ransom in wages, and there lies the problem.
9.) 22 May 2026 23:23:19
I'd still take him, save on the transfer fee and pay it in wages. Proven Premier League striker. At least, it wouldn't be a gamble, because most players from abroad take time to settle. ?
10.) 23 May 2026 10:55:43
We won't sign a 30-year-old.
We're only looking at young players with a sell-on.
02 May 2026 23:05:08
I had a dream last night. Thousands of smiling faces, loads of red... then three shooting stars!
???
25 Apr 2026 16:03:21
Spurs still 0-0. If it stays there we're safe.
1.) 25 Apr 2026 16:19:26
Stokey, I take him off the road. You've got my back. Remember the plan.
2.) 25 Apr 2026 16:42:21
?
You know it's true.
3.) 25 Apr 2026 16:46:22
They've fecking scored. Looks like we might need another point. ? ? ?
4.) 25 Apr 2026 16:50:46
Everton have equalised with West Ham though. Swings and roundabouts.
24 Apr 2026 22:20:21
So @bowie @stokey are you missing Dych then? No?
Ahem! Told you so. ?
1.) 25 Apr 2026 07:44:32
As you insist on mentioning it Cyclist, I'm not missing the 22 points in 18 games that Dyche got us, no, mate... it's made VP's job easier, don't you think? Doh!
2.) 25 Apr 2026 16:00:45
Told you so. Deflection won't work. ?
3.) 25 Apr 2026 17:20:29
Stats don't lie, Cyclist, my friend.
18 Apr 2026 15:01:24
We have the perfect players to play three at the back.
Sels
Cuhna, Milenkovic, Murillo
Aina, Sangare, Anderson/Dominguez, Williams
MGW, McAtee
STRIKER.
1.) 18 Apr 2026 15:46:36
Good shout, Redcyclist - be great to have Taiwo up front - get the wing backs putting the ball in the box for him! Have MGW or MekAcupof tee on the edge of the box, waiting for the knock down! We need that win against Burnley, with Leeds already 2-0 on Wolves!
COYR.
2.) Attack, I say. Just pour it on. Remember the old Keegan years as a manager, more for them to defend in their own final 3rd, not ours, waiting for a cheap shot.
3.) 18 Apr 2026 17:00:08
I don't think VP thinks much of Awoniyi, unfortunately.
Pity, as he delivers something different.
4.) 18 Apr 2026 17:16:16
Better than Jesus.
5.) 18 Apr 2026 17:29:53
Definitely.
A pity Awoniyi doesn't get any game time.
6.) 18 Apr 2026 18:20:40
Go on you mighty Seagulls!!!!!!
7.) 18 Apr 2026 19:44:57
Just hope we don't run out of steam last 20 mins.
17 May 2026 21:55:50

16 Feb 2026 21:09:41
If it's true, then they aren't backstabbers. It was 5 employees being asked by the owner a question and answering it. Dyche was useless.
13 Feb 2026 14:47:30
If you want prophetic, the AI who does my profile pics seems to be good at predicting the future.
Shall I ask it to do one of Ryan Yates lifting the Europa League trophy?
22 May 2026 14:44:04

22 May 2026 10:58:49
Yeah, I believe you. You're not going to watch the World Cup. ?
19 May 2026 11:25:59
Can we have a rule? Nobody is allowed to say "leave it to the club". This site is about banter and chatting about rumours. It isn't about discouraging people from posting about who they think we should or shouldn't sign.
That has to be one of the most irritating things anyone on here can do. What are you here for if you don't want to discuss possible transfers?
09 May 2026 12:55:44
We'd gone 10 games unbeaten without most of those players. We were still in the game until one of our established players came on and gave them a penalty. You're wrong. They played poorly and let the club down.
04 May 2026 23:08:02
I believed. I voted stay up and Champ's League in the poll. Don't know how many did, but we're close even if we don't make it.
More fun to try to believe, although under Ange and Dyche, I was struggling to believe what I was watching, let alone believe we'd win games. ?
