Danny Fox has signed a 3 year contract. What are our thoughts on this? With Dan Harding, does that mean Pearce wants him as regular left back? He is steady and safe but no worse than Konchesky and other top 6 left backs?

{Ed034's Note - welcome aboard mr fox

1.) 09 May 2014
I think after a good pre season and injury free he will play like he did for Southampton then I think we he will be a great addition and even then he's much better than Harding so I'm hoping Harding is shipped out now!

2.) 09 May 2014
This is also like signing a midfielder as CC can now be an option for Midfield

3.) 09 May 2014
He's a decent Championship full-back. He hasn't looked great at Forest recently but then again Forest have been poor on the whole.

Hopefully next season, with Forest back on form, he can show us what he can do.

4.) 09 May 2014
I personally think good signing and as per post posted elsewhere I think he will benefit from Pearce being in charge, might even see him play further forward. Keeping Harding could mean Cohen taking the DM role with Vaughan though gather Pearce rates Cohen as a LB too

5.) 09 May 2014
Fox is dire! Harding mark 2! Terrible signing

6.) 09 May 2014
No - he's not worse than Harding

7.) 09 May 2014
I haven't seen Fox play enough to form an opinion but general feedback isn't great. Personally I would keep Cohen there.

8.) 09 May 2014
I think our manager is as good a judge of a left back as you will get and he obviously sees somthing that he can work with in Fox so I say welcome to him and let's have some faith.

9.) 09 May 2014
He gets forward and has a good left foot. Crosses it very well.

10.) 09 May 2014

Have seen both Cohen & Fox play this season and Cohen much better all round LB but Fox will be a good deputy.

11.) 09 May 2014
Tj3 no way has Harding been better than fox this season. Unbelievable.

12.) 09 May 2014
He`s a great signing.
I only saw him athome against Birmingham and thought he had a pretty good game.
When he first came he was lacking match fitness and that showed.
With pre season behind I think he could e the left back Forest have been looking for to allow Cohen to play in a more advanced role.

13.) 09 May 2014
He's a good squad player, he wasn't the only poor performer in the team he'll do well in a settled back four

14.) 09 May 2014
I would argue just because someone is good at playing doesn't automatically make them a good manager.

My miss's is the Ronaldo of playing with Money but the David Platt of managing it!

Good signing.
Hopefully means Harding will be moving on.

16.) 09 May 2014
Good signing. He may not have looked great but he has only played when we have been on our weakest with injuries and playing with our second string.
He will look different playing along side Hobbs and Wilson.

17.) 09 May 2014
Van morgan - brilliant

18.) 09 May 2014
Relatives who support the Saints were more than happy to see the back of him, reckoned he was poor for them even in the Championship. I haven't seen anything to make me disagree. Reasonable deputy for CC but no more than that.

19.) 09 May 2014
Excellent signing, very good left back with a good pre season in him and regular games will come back to something like his best. Potentially best left back in the championship.

20.) 09 May 2014
I wonder whether we fans or Mr stuart Pearce is best qualified to judge a left back.

21.) 09 May 2014
I think he will improve with a good pre season & mr pearce as his mentor but I still think a fully fit chris cohen is the best left back at the club & if he plays like he did before he got injured fox will be on the bench for most of the season plus he gets too many bookings

22.) 09 May 2014
So Diamond Geezer, your relatives are Southampton supporters and he was rubbish in the Championship? 13 assists from LB, second in their team in the promotion season to the Premier League and he was rubbish? Granted he didn't really produce in the Premiership and lost his place to Shaw but his effectiveness going forward at this level can't be argued.

23.) 10 May 2014
I've always rated him fair enough he's not been great so far but who's to say he's not going to improve. We have not not seen it yet but he take's a hell of a freekick scored some very good one's so everybody get supporting this guy knocking him is not going to make him any better.

24.) 10 May 2014
I think he will be a lot better player this year. It looked like for most of it that he was trying hard to get up the wing and forcing something to happen as we didn't have a spark coming from anywhere else. So that was the times he was being caught out defensiveley.
I hope that this frees mr Cohen to going back on to the left of midfield, and I think the two of them will be able to cover a lot of ground! Also this will allow mr. Reid to have a free role, as when o'driscoll was incharge. Because he looked awesome just I between there midfield and defense. Nobody knew how to cope with him!

25.) 10 May 2014
He will be one of the top left backs in the championship if he gets a good run in the side, really needed a left back, imo Harding is not good enough, use Cohen in midfield and then at left back if needed

{Ed034's Note - in place of who in midfield?? (Please register to post)

26.) 10 May 2014
Ok atrophy, my contacts are not a representative sample, but it was his defensive abilities they had less confidence in,.

27.) 10 May 2014
With Wilson and Hobbs to the right of him he will b able to play more freely. he hasn't had this yet as the donkey that is Collins has been at the side of him. I think he will be quality if Cohen gets put on the wing in front of him. our 1st team lineup is nothing short of quality. darlow, lichaj, Wilson, Hobbs, fox, Paterson, lansbury, Reid, Vaughan, Cohen just need that one quality striker to bang the chances in that that midfield will create. god I can't wait for that team to play for us next season.

{Ed034's Note - i think having Vaughan in dm, will give him more freedom

28.) 10 May 2014
I would agree Diamond that defensively he has some weakness, but if the setup suits and with good players (Hobbs/Wilson/Lichaj) alongside him I think he'll do well, sorry if I came across badly in my previous post.

As for Cohen I think he won't be as effective at LB anymore, having an injury/op like he has will make his knee stronger but the side effect is he will have lost pace. I hope I'm proved wrong but I have a feeling he will feature more in midfield than defense this year.

29.) 10 May 2014
Don't rare him at all. Put him and Harding together and you still don't get a good left back. What about younger players, the young lad at Rangers looks a dad better bet, he has lots of potential and will only increase in value.

{Ed034's Note - fox and Cohen as our left backs, will be a better pairing than anything else in this league

30.) 10 May 2014
As other posts have mentioned I don't think we've seen enough of him yet. I've seen flashes of excellent play from Fox and he goes forward well and puts a sweet cross in. Happy st holder here. Welcome in Fox.

31.) 10 May 2014
He has signed for 3 years, he is a championship quality natural left-back. How many posts have we had on here in the last few years about needing a natural left-back, well now we have signed one, so let's support him. He has only played for us when we were at our weakest, let's see how he does in our full-strength team before moaning.

{Ed034's Note - we have one in Cohen and this now means we have another option

32.) 10 May 2014
I hope he plays well but if he gets in ahead of Cohen I can't see Cohen getting in the team (unless lansbury or reid gets injured).

Anyway to hell with the negativity would rather be debating who to play LB between Cohen and Fox than consider Harding

10 May 2014 11:10:24
We don't know what effect Cohen's injury has had on him. Let's hope he comes back fit but it's good to know we now have an excellent left back competing with him for the spot.

34.) 10 May 2014

An above average left back who likes to get forward. Struggled a little bit at Forest as needed game time. A good pre-season without an injury and I feel we can get the best out of him. When Andy Reid got injured I think he struggled slightly because no one seemed to track back and help him out.

35.) 10 May 2014
Darlow
lichaj Hobbs Wilson Fox
Vaughan Lansbury
Paterson Reid Cohen
Assambolonga

Subs De vries Halford Peltier Osbourne Mackie Callum Wilson Cox

Just a thought i'd be happy

36.) 10 May 2014
I think it'll be good to have Cohen available for midfield if needed. He might not be first choice there, but he's got to be a better option than relying on kids - or resorting to Moussi.

37.) 10 May 2014
Mod Red - like your tea could be onto a winner there

38.) 10 May 2014
Cox not sure of him he misses all the time in FIFA 14 and I think we can get better at the striker position.

39.) 11 May 2014
Another Southampton cast off. Don't rate him or Harding.

40.) 11 May 2014
I really am interested in knowing who people would like at LB? Tell me who is a better freebie?

41.) 11 May 2014
11 May 2014 12:45:48
Need to get rid of Cox and get someone in who can score also get Hart in to look after the kid's also get Garry birtles or Trevor Francis in to coach the strikers

42.) 11 May 2014
11 May 2014 14:23:40
Have to agree Harding is not the player we want or need but Fox for me is a great addition to the squad. From his first game you could see he was a cut above Harding, Collins, Halford etc.
Quality player and great signing. works well at the back and when pushing forward, great balance with Lichaj on the right playing a similar game

43.) 11 May 2014
Mod Red! No Lascelles not even on the bench? Eh!

44.) 11 May 2014
See my next post possibly on banter page ;-) but yeah I did miss lascelles probably for peltier

45.) 12 May 2014
Fox has done alright in the past but he was not impressive whilst on loan.

He'll probably be another one on a contract that is totally disproportionate to his production.
