Well that has convinced me that Cooper, despite what he says, has no intention of playing any other way than defensive, negative, boring football. He often talks about players "sticking to the plan" that plan is always sit in your own half, let the opponent have the ball and then try to hit them on tge break.

Tonight was pretty much a free hit as many fans are not overly bothered about this cup. But instead of trying a more attacking style and maybe even trying to have more possesion than an opponent for once, he puts us through the same ugly football.

5 defenders and 3 midfielders that are more defensive minded than attacking set the tone. don't want to hear excuses about it not being our best starting 11 as Burnley didn't play their strongest team either. I would have preferred we had a go even if we had lost. But to play that way and lose anyway is poor, poor management abd I for one am losing paitence with Cooperball.

Cooper should move away from defensive tactics and start showing some bravery in attacking.
Luckily it's only a cup game where upon Forest can concentrate on the League.
With all these player's being linked with us do you think Cooper will utilize these possible incoming player's to continue to play a deep defensive strategy?

Keep the ball. Not overly bothered you say

We were all bothered when we got to the semis last season.

Save a few players I understand but at least have a go with the rest. It’s what we all wanted.

A chance to leave the negative tactics behind and apparently play the way Cooper wants to play 38 percent possession no shots on target and we was playing at home let's be realistic coopers never going to change his boring football.

A great sense of frustration with the result today. Yes we are atleast starting to score more goals but the same old problems in the way we play and coopers mindset are still there. Man Utd were there for the taking, especially after the start we made. There confidence was low but we just retreated into our own half. I don't expect us to play gung ho but sitting so deep just invites pressure abd balls into the box, which eventually leads to goals against. And because all our players are so deep when we do win the ball back we end up booting it upfield and the opposition come straight back at us. We needed to look after the ball better and give the defenders a breather. Cooper said last season he didn't want to play this way but all the signs are that it will be much the same. He seems obsessed with athletic, pacy or defensive minded players which fits into his negative way of playing. Probably why Scarpa never featured. Even playing this defensive style, the reality is that we've conceded 5 goals in our 2 away games. I just wish we would try and keep the ball and play some progressive, atacking football.

I completely agree with your post. Don’t want cooper to go but do want him to change his ways.

2.) 26 Aug 2023 20:07:25
Yep, the players are definitely not trying to keep the ball.

3.) 26 Aug 2023 20:42:35
Keep the ball, I think in a more positive way and say we are improving massively. We've scored three away goals against two top four sides and given both a bloody good scare.

We need to get gibbs white playing like he does at home, delivery for our second class, but seems to go missing for long periods?
That's not a dig at the lad as he makes us tick, so when he goes quiet we struggle
I sincerely hope turner is adjusting to life and being number one, a few fumbles and a lot of panic from set pieces today and some really poor kicking in a hurry
Look you go to man utd and its not easy, we gave them a real good fright though
No point bleteing we were robbed by var, there equaliser baffled me though as casimero fell over was standing offside when he got up and the ball was played to him by Fernández header?
Got to be interfering with play?
As he scored?

Not enough height in that team. Their biggest strength is set pieces and although I understand you should play to your strengths, we should also not be naive. Boly and Yates need to be in there somewhere.

Its not the formation that's the problem, its the negative tactics, sitting in our own half and inviting the opposition on. Play that way and inevitably they will get chances. Watch the way other decent premier league teams close down the opposition compared to how we just sit off. Its pathetic and he will never ever change.

Crosses come into the box because Cooper has the team playing so deep and compact. Toffolo is tucked in narrow and by the time he rushes out to try and close down its too late.
