From the man himself, Fawaz AL Hasawi ‏

"I am delighted to announce our first signing of the summer - Darius Henderson on a two-year deal. "

Was hoping for a better first signing but least we are getting the ball rolling.

Jording

1.) Fine, but hope for so much more this summer!
Forest Dane

2.) See all those people who clicked unbelievable yesterday should have listened to me and my source lol. U reds

3.) Get a good pre season under his belt with the team and other new signings and he'll be a real handful for opposing defenders. Can't grumble at this one so a good start in the transfer window in my opinion.

4.) Early days yet and the 'first' as he says so let's expect more. A good signing in my opinion and 2 years is probably about right. A lot to offer as a player and as I've stated before, as much as I love Dex I rate Henderson more highly for a bigger striker although I hope Dex proves otherwise.

5.) I assume it includes a clause to cover if he's sent to the Big House.

6.) He won't dance past 3 defenders and score spectacular goals but is a handful for defenses good in the air and I would not want to play against him.

He has scored 100 goals in 246 league games, not a bad return at all.

To any doubters do you think BD would have any interest in him at all if he didn't think he could positively add to the team.

Will excel with a good winger

7.) He may have signed a contract but doesn't he still have to court. Which may see him serve a custodial sentence.

8.) Cracking addition. Allows us to play him upfront on his own, small man big man, two big men. Not many sides can provide the different options like that. Great addition.

9.) Did a better job than blackstock and if we keep blackstock it'll make him work for first team football. Great signing for me. Really looking forward to some bigger transfers though.
Eddy

10.) Yesterdays post said 3 years

11.) This is good news everyone, it takes us a step closer to being able to get rid miller.

12.) A little gutted really, didn't see much last season that would change my mind that he was slow and couldn't trap a ball for love nor money

13.) Im just glad Fawaz is tweeting signing again, getting excited now! :D

14.) "Was hoping for a better first signing" Not sure who you were hoping for I for one feel that this is an excellent signing. He's far better than Dexter and when you need a big man to get on the end of the long clearance he's the man to have. He not only wins the ball but more than often finds one of his own players and does not constantly stray off side. Compare that to Dexter who is not as strong, rarely wins the ball, never finds a team mate and is forever getting a web site.

Thank you Fawaz for this excellent news I am sure there will be more to follow.

15.) There his no pleaseing some fans in my opinion its a good start with more great signings to follow ( forest1865)

16.) Was talking to darius hendersons dad this morning he was telling me also was in Skegness, he lives in chapel st leanards

17.) Anybody who is not too keen on the Henderson signing should take a look at the goalscoring stats and see how he compares against the likes of Sharp and Cox.

18.) Yes his mum owns the chippy in chapel as well

19.) Look back over the years, how many times did he score against us? Every team he played for he scored against us. Top bloke too, met him at the sponsors meal end of the season.

Ketnee T3

20.) Great news and more like it please gaffa

21.) If he is the worst signing we make this summer, ca'nt wait to see the rest.

22.) Really good signing in my book. Was a cut above dex last season when he came in, although I think dex suffered a dramatic loss of form and confidence. Still think we need another striker with some pace to run in behind defenders. We were missing that option significantly last year. Simeon Jackson for me would be a great signing
Let the tweets flow fawaz

Keeno

23.) Always need somebody who can hold the ball up to relieve pressure on the defense, bring in other players as they run through and somebody tall who can head the ball :) Good signing in my opinion.

24.) I think this will be. Goog signing and when we get the balance right he will get his share of goals. Also he will be able to be more focussed now he knows the club wants him. Good deal. However I would like ward nwxt, no I demand ward. Lol

25.) Decent signing. Hopefully this will set people's expectations at the right level; we are not going to be getting Scott Sinclair or anyone else who could stay in the Premier League!

26.) Just to put this court case to bed, the case was dropped by CPS, the reason being: the main prosecution witness cannot attend due to him living in Australia and will not make a return journey. The matter was settled between all parties. Therefore this matter was dropped due to no appearance by the man who was assaulted, no case to answer. Please let this matter drop he will not get any custodial sentence.

27.) Just to clear this one up for good, there are a number of ways in which a contract of employment can be terminated. The most common pertain to performance, conduct or attendence. Two of the lesser know methods, though equally valid are known as SOSR (or Some Other Substantial Reason) or if the contract becomes 'frustrated'. I know it sounds odd but to frustrate a contract is the correct legal term. A contract will become frustrated when an employee is no longer able to carry out the duties of the role due to extenuating circumstance that make it impossible. Being sentenced to prison is a classic example of this and the most common scenario cited for justifiying a frustrated contract. The employee will have some level of recourse in this situation though the grounds are often trite, and rarely progress to the tribunal stage. Now, this doesn't apply in this situation because the case has been dropped reportedly due to the claiment not being willing, or able to attend the hearing and therefore the case was disbanded. But on the plus side you have learnt something today and the weather has been excellent!

28.) Ed can you explain why signing Darius Henderson was a key target for BD?
Firstly did any other club bid for him - I heard no rumours did you? Tudgay and now Henderson. This is not new business or anything I would get excited about. You can hardly say the club at this moment in time is showing amibition. To me this heading down the Boateng, Miller, Greening, Harewood, Reid route

Martin 'Peters' {Ed034's Note - I am presuming because he is going to give us options up front. How many times have fans moaned about not having a plan b?? Well now we have one. We can't play slick passing football on a cold, wet, windy night on a bobbling pitch at Barnsley.
He also will be a massive help when playing teams good at set pieces.
Just because he isn't a quick, nippy player, that can take players on and gets you on the edge of your seat, doesn't mean he isn't a good signing.
He has scored goals all through his career. He may only have fit 2 in 12 for us, but that was playing a system where we didn't get players whipping crosses in. His job was to win the high balls, put himself about and frighten the centre backs. He did all three extremely well.
He is the first signing if the summer and you've already made your mind up.

29.) It's a 2 year deal with the option of a 3rd year to whoever called the poster yesterday wrong

from our lovely Natalie Johnson (something about her but you would) who has tweeted

"I understand there will be a signing at #nffc within the next 14 days. It will not be Rob Hall or David Lopez. "

lets hope its a big signing.

Jording

1.) Good news! bit of a weird time frame though isn't it? maybe the player's on hol and we're chatting to his agent atm.

2.) That's pretty vague on her part!

3.) I bloody well hope there will be an announcement in fact several within 14 days!

4.) Billy Sharp

5.) Johnson?

6.) She's spoiling the fun of rumours!

7.) I definitely would :-)

8.) This Natalie Jackson has got her nose into everything.

9.) 1 signing in the next 14 days? Well that's a start I suppose.

10.) Totally would!

11.) Forest will be playing in red shirts next year! That's about as good info as that tweet!

12.) Jording I know what you mean. fit body

13.) I would, you would, i'm sure king Billy has, what a guy, nffc legend! have to say she, s got a great trumper.

14.) Bader al Mutawa. {Ed034's Note - I think he has been linked with us in the past

Hey Ed,

Whats your views on the Vaughan situation, Billy reckons he pretty much out for the rest of the season.

Can we send him back to sunderland and still get him on a free in the summer? or are we stuck with him for the rest of the season, paying his wages when he's not doing anything?

The good thing about keeping him is he should be back for may, which if we are in the playoffs, would be very handy.

Jording

{Ed034's Note - I would expect us to bring in maybe dorrans now.

1.) Big blow this is!

2.) Really sucks is a massive loss he was the lynch pin between our solid defence and attacking flair

3.) Have we volunteered to pay his wages for three months? Seems strange if he does his rehab with us not Sunderland. Didn't he have thigh problem recently as well? Can't think he would be match fit on his return even if he gets back on the pitch by end of the season.

{Ed034's Note - this is why clubs have insurance

4.) Ed leeds sent blackstock back to us when he got injured. so can we do same with vaughen. defo need another centre midfielder in on loan.
dorrans maybe.
leadbitter with deal end of season.
try someone from big boys everyone jumping ship at man utd. lmao
what bout cattermole

{Ed034's Note - yes or they can recall him back

5.) Thank christ the moose has hit form.

would going back in for George Elokobi be crazy or not? didn't do too bad for us in 11/12 season.

Jording

{Ed034's Note - crazy. Not good enough for this league anymore after his injuries

1.) I think most of us have a soft spot for Elekobi. Ed's right, not quite good enough for this league but we all have fond memories of him.

2.) He'll Eat You Alive!! Uredz.

I though all home games was shown on Al Jazeera? tonight's match doesn't seem to be on there.

Well I have a subscription to Forest Player, so commentary it is.

Wish I could make the game, sometimes I wonder why I live in Cheltenham!

Jording

1.) Hi jording the match is on vipbox via a link up so its fingers crossed

2.) We are going tonight on the m5 and can give you a lift perhaps meet at Strensham services or Michael wood whichever is closest for you?Andy Webber Taunton Tricky!

How come the reading game is on Friday? I can't see anyway that says its on TV?

Jording

1.) London Irish are at home (at the Majewski statium) to London Wasps in the rugby union on saturday 30th Nov. Alas its not on TV either.

2.) Surely the London Irish home game shouldn't matter, it our home game.

3.) Notts are at home on Saturday - not sure why they took precedence though.

4.) What difference does that make if notts are at home. I think there are more people about on a Sunday morning when football played on the embankment.

{Ed034's Note - policing, having four sets of fans together and parking

5.) Ah cheers guys, didn't think about Notts county playing a home game, surely would be easier to move the County game than forest game.

6.) Notts already had to play on a Friday night when we played on a Saturday.
We take it in turns when we are both scheduled to play on the same day.

7.) Will this be on al Jazeera? Got work late :- (

8.) Can't the football league schedule a fixture list properly anymore?

I think he will stay, he is clearly in love with the club and wants to prove himself. I think he will want to stay until his contract is up at the very least.

As for forest willing to sell, I think only if it is a BIG money offer, we might be tempted, be the club have repeatedly said he is the future.

Will he be put into Left Back position or are we getting him for Midfield?

Wasn't it SOD that brought him in to Forest? if so, I can defiantly see this happening.

I just read this on tv, I knew i'd see it up on here sooner rather than later.

Not seen the lad play or even herd of him so I can't really comment on whether i'd like him as a red or not. Is he any good Ed? {Ed034's Note - don't know much about him
